its funny how giving a video game character an idle animation makes them look more natural but if you do idle animations in real life you look unnatural

the thing that always gets me about the way sexual attraction supposedly works for other people is that like, people can just see like, naked boobs, or etc. things that they find attractive, or a person they find attractive, etc., and then like... that immediately makes them feel something/turns them on? that kind of thing is totally foreign to me, like, I think girls are cute and all, but like, just looking at them, or parts of them, I don't feel anything in particular? I don't really feel sexual desire in general, of course, but the idea of looking at someone or a piece of art or such and feeling strong desires and such is just totally alien to me, its interesting

I've been hard at work on Super Climb Up!!, and I've gotten enough done now that I'm ready to start showing off stuff for it on my patreon! $1 or more will get you posts showing off exclusive art/posts about the characters, behind the scenes looks at development, extended gameplay clips, and, later, access to trying out beta demos of the game! plus, there's already some behind the scenes posts about Grey Area, and for $5 you can get the Grey Area art + assets pack, and I'm gonna do one of those for Super Climb Up!! when it releases, too! so come on over if you're interested and help support my games!

the most difficult part of being a lego enthusiast is that one of their biggest licensed properties continues to be harry potter, and that I never see this discussed or acknowledged by like, any of the lego youtubers I watch, in fact many of them will just talk about/review lego harry potter sets like its nothing, really souring the whole experience

its just like. I love lego, can we please stop supporting them on this one thing? please?

character concept: guy who is cursed to be immortal but, like, in the same way the cast of the simpsons are. you are 30 years old. you were born 30 years ago. you have always been born 30 years ago. as time marches forwards your memories shift to match the generation you are now part of. you used to be old enough to remember world war ii but now you are not. you may have had friends in the 80s but now you dont. does this make sense.

theres also the different but related immortality seen in the 'Whales on Stilts' series where you have a character like Jasper Dash who is eternally a child and eternally stuck in the time period he comes from, becoming increasingly odd and conspicuous and anachronistic as time moves forward

It's so funny to me that the dark souls games are listed as "souls-like" on steam, I mean, yes! I suppose they are like the souls games! I wonder why!

should bring back calling fps games 'doom clones' so that the doom series can get in on this too

appreciation post for the beautifully done prerendered background in this one part of half-life

it's so cleverly used and creates such a good sense of depth in this section, its got that great late 90s CG aesthetic with the simple lighting and weird marbled texture choices, the way it fades into the background adding to that sense of depth, its just, mm, absolutely lovely, always gotta spend some time and stop and admire it for a bit

they also did a great job rendering it in a way where the 3D illusion is captured extremely well, the only way you can really tell its a prerendered image is the low resolution

there's a particular magic moment that video games can pull off when it suddenly clicks and feels real to you, like you're really there, and it doesn't need to be photorealistic or anything to do that either

like, when you are playing a particularly low resolution VR system, and the individual pixels are very apparent.. there's still a moment when you can see past the pixels and feel immersed in the location, despite being aware it's not real

I think this scene in half-life does something very similar to that, it so effectively creates a sense of space and of place that despite the low resolution and perspective trickery, there is a moment where it clicks in and feels real

it catches me off guard sometimes when I remember people sexualize cutesy anime girls because those are just creatures to me, I feel the same way about them as I do towards like. a hamster

they're just so stylized to the point I just register them as like a cute little animal

If you have a real life person as your pfp, I don't care if it's Taylor Swift or something, my subconscious will assume you look like that irl. Sometimes my subconscious even assumes that I look like my pfp irl. And if your pfp is not a real life person... Tbh my subconscious still assumes you look like that irl.

You know what, tag yourself... How close in appearance do you think you are to your pfp? Interpret how you will
