ah yes. Mars in the signs. Mars =motivation, energy, aggression, passion. Mars is what drives you, what fuels you. If you go against it, it’s like shutting off your fuel, you’ll feel sluggish, heavy, dispassionate, weak. Used negatively and you’ll feel rage, aggression, in a fighting spirit. Used positively, you’ll fuel others, you will glow, you feel free and can fight off negative energies being thrown at you.

So, Vertex is where you find your karmic patterns and a meeting with destiny. It is the chart's fifth angle, so to speak, less important than the other angles. It’s the energy that repeats themselves over and over again without much control. It also represents innate qualities that are not being used. It’s a karmic point that needs activation to bring out and harness its power. Three things can activate the vertex: transits, other people (synastry), and places. Vertex is represented with Vx is some charts or something similar to a plus sign.

VERTEX 1ST HOUSE

House of self: Must work on first impressions and self appearances. There’s a perpetuation of fresh starts and can lead a person to never really work on personal long-term goals. Gathering leadership skills and allowing constructive criticisms from loved ones to help you grow into your full potential is key.

VERTEX 2ND HOUSE

House of possessions: Working on general life skills and developing a strong sense of personal needs. Have confidence with your senses like taste, sound, touch, and smell. Anything that develop your senses to the physical world and being consciously aware of your environment helps take control of your karmic patterns.

House of communication: Working on controlling your thoughts through meditation and being consciously aware of what you speak. This is not to say you shouldn’t speak in fear, but to speak from both the mind and the heart. Remembering that even negative words can still come from both the mind and the heart, not just positive words. You learn valuable information through others and being open to any form of education will help take control of your karmic patterns.

VERTEX 4TH HOUSE

House of inner self: It’s the house of “home” so nurturing your personal space from your bedroom to your closet to your bathroom. If you have no control over these things, seek a place that feels like home. I know people who use a library as their safe space. People with this placement often use cafes as their “space”. Usually this placement carries a lot of baggage and nourishment beyond the physical aspect. Certain people will bring out your nurturing side.

VERTEX 5TH HOUSE

House of love and pleasure: Needs to be mindful and practice self-love, may lose themselves in chasing other people’s love. May even neglect themselves chasing love. Be aware and accepting of the love given by those you hold dear. You fall in and out of love trying to look for that special person when that special person is you.

VERTEX 6TH HOUSE

House of daily routines: Highly psychic but is rejected. must develop a strong sense of care for your body, mind, and soul. strong need to be of service to others but needs to learn that you can help if you can’t help yourself first. Going with your intuition and feelings and listening to your inner guidance is key to taking control of your karmic patterns.

Let’s talk about the 4th house and its relationship to the other houses.

I’m researching and writing about Vertex in astrology, and I realized that there’s such a generalization for the houses especially the 4th house. I also think there’s a bit of a confusion here too.

4th house is often called the house of home. but it’s really the house of personal space. especially because it’s the direct square of your 1st house, the house of personal self. the opposite of the 1st house is 7th house and that’s the house of relationships and partnerships beyond the self. the opposite of 4th house and the direct squares of 1st and 7th house is the 10th house, the house of public self. These are the angles of your birth chart. Do you see the connection there?

4th house is often associated with home and family and while that’s true on a high level perspective it really deals with the personal space around you and the one’s you’re willing(or unwilling) to invite into your inner being. There’s a reason why the 4th house is considered the lowest point of a birth chart. because it’s the deepest parts of the person.

A few synastry notes.

Mars conjunct Ascendant: Instant attraction between each other but in different ways. Ascendant person will be attracted to the energy of the Mars person while the Mars person will be attracted to physical looks of the Ascendant person. The energy is magnetic to both.

Moon conjunct/opposite/square Pluto: psychological attachments for both individuals. Easy to lose yourself in the relationship. Experiences a sense of crisis about parts of themselves they used to find natural and easy. a sense of repulsion can happen if one or both individuals have a strong sense of self. This aspect is akin to trees twisting into each other.

Venus conjunt/opposite/square Pluto: Deeply transformative for both. Experiences a lot of intensity in the relationship, especially in the beginning. There’s a strong attraction and a magnetic pull that is physical, charming, and aesthetically alluring.

Venus conjunct/opposite/square Neptune: Highly romantic, seemingly of a soul connection. Lots of dreaminess but can depending on the rest of the chart can be twisted into manipulation. Relationship might be used as a form of escapism. May not see each other for who they truly are.

Mars aspect Jupiter: Growth and expansion. Optimism and overindulgence. Sees each other’s potential and tries to motivate each other. Underlying jealousy and competitiveness if not kept in check. Creates a powerful relationship if channeled correctly.

Mercury aspect Midheaven: Mercury person’s thoughts and ideas benefit Midheaven. Mercury’s ideas will be put in the public spotlight by the Midheaven person.

Moon conjunct Ascendant: Both individuals feel emotionally safe with each other. There’s a sensitivity to each other’s changes. It’s hard to hide your emotional state with each other.

Sun opposite/conjunct/trine Mars: Strong physical connection. Very touchy-feely. Can’t stop holding/touching each other. You balance each other out and the personal energies are complementary. Conflicts happens in this aspect when too much ego is involved.

North Nodes in the signs.

Knowing your north node is also important for spiritual health because it’s the energy your soul is being guided to learn and become. So I’m going to write my short descriptions for each north nodes.

Someone with Aries north node will feel like they must always think about and do things for others before they can focus on their own self. They spend this life learning to overcome feeling guilty when they focus on personal growth and practicing self love.

A Taurus north node will need to be more in-tuned with their outer world. To experience the world in all it’s sensuality and beauty. Instead of focusing on control and power, they must relax and find solidarity and happiness in where they are now. Happiness here comes when they can relax and smell the flowers.

Gemini north node will need to find their inner truths rather than rely on other people’s truths. They must focus on who they are as a person and understand that it’s not up to other people to tell them who they are.

Cancer north node will need to protect and care for others in an emotional way rather than imposing rules and showering loved ones with material things.

Leo north node will learn to pursue self expression authentically for who they truly are instead of trying to impress other people with their energy.

Virgo north node is trying to learn to practice seeing details and being practical in their actions. Being self aware is important where as daydreaming hinders their  goals.

Libra north node will need to learn balance and being fair with other people’s needs. They need to think of others when making a group/partnership decision.

Scorpio north node will need to learn being attuned with their darker aspects in their personality rather than just drowning these out with sensual pleasures. They need to practice self mastery of the soul.

Sagittarius north node must learn to break out of their inner being and explore the world at large. Find the truths of the world. Learning from others becomes essential.

Capricorn north node needs to learn to practice self reliance in a practical way. They feel they must become disciplined in some way and take up a leadership a position in their life. They learn to grow themselves inside of other people.

Aquarius north node will need to learn to focus helping others as a collective. To break away from group mentality and become more open to different perspectives.

Pisces north node needs to open up to the spiritual realm and focus on the emotional connection rather than decisions based on details. Being accepting of the energies they read and tapping into the human consciousness is important here.
