god i want to write an essay about how one piece treats monster as a positive trait to embrace which cycles back into how everyone is a reject. some more obvious, franky and chopper being the most obvious. but sanji saying luffys basically a monster always stuck out to me. everyone is freakish. even nami has had her innate precise knowledge and manipulation of weather called out as weird. everyones a bit monstrous, and by embracing that they grow

One Piece at its core is about a group of weirdos and outcasts finding their freedom in the sea and with each other. They're monsters and demons and criminals and freaks, but that's the world's problem, not theirs.

I don’t think you can fully understand transmisogyny without understanding how it’s weaponized against cis Black women.

When you find a transmisogynist you’ve found a racist who will use their ideals of the “normative female body” to demean and denigrate Black women. For years it was a popular right wing rumor/conspiracy/dick move to refer to Michelle Obama as a “tranny” and more recently sports organizations have repeatedly excluded cis Black women for not having “normative” hormone levels. Transmisogyny and antiblackness go hand in hand.

gentle reminder that south korea is occupied korea

US military bases are vectors of violence against the indigenous population as both infrastructure of occupation and a warehouse for violent men.

This is especially true in the case of sexual violence against women and LGBT people.

The US military has never been and will never be “diverse” and “inclusive” in any way shape or form.

All its bases need to be closed.

This is absolutely true. One of the things that kept coming up when I talked to LGBT+ people in Korea that did sex work or were simply cruising and got abused by the US troops stationed there, was that there was no recourse from the Korean police or the US military disciplinary arms. Further, Republic of Korea has a long history of leftist actions being put down by violent dictators that either got outright support or blessings from US military stationed in Korea (Gwangju Resistance is the biggest one). We cannot have justice, be it economic, gender, or LGBT+, with the US military stationed in Korea.

As a quick aside, this is also true for Japan.

we need the USA out of Northeast Asia, and we need it out now.

It’s more sick to learn that inside those camps, it’s build to accommodate americans soldiers. This thread reports how it’s inside via illustrations since it’s illegal to take pictures

at the end of the day, as much as working conditions in retail suck, 'customer' is not a coherent social class. you are also A Customer, everyone is. it's just a reframing of the neoliberal rhetoric of 'consumers', of buying things as a vector for social movements. it's a meaningless distraction. what matters is whether you're fellow workers or not.

Absolutely ridiculous that CNN would even have him as a guest. Absolutely mind-blowing that Jake Tapper just.... moved on.

One of the most obnoxious problems with discussing presidential elections in America is that there are a lot of Democrats who believe that whatever weird swagless homonculus they put before us should win in a landslide because they're the good guys, and they get very angry when they lose and will not listen to ideas like "nominate a better candidate next time" or "run a better campaign next time" or "maybe stop ratfucking your most popular candidate next time."

This is also why I find the whole "you treat Republicans like bad weather without agency" business so frustrating. Journalists analyzed the 2016 election and the uncomfortable conclusion they found was that Trump's group just ran a better campaign. Told the right people in the right places what they wanted to hear. Clinton's camp simply didn't. Her campaign was quite badly run, frankly. Bill Clinton's advice was ignored because her staffers thought he was trying to relive the glory days. Turns out "go out and talk to the working class" is, actually, pretty good fucking advice. But what'd he know, he only won two presidential elections.

And the fallout from that was that criticizing Hillary for losing was unacceptable. It was all racists and Russian hackers and Toxic BernieBros and an endless parade of excuses for why it was everyone's fault but theirs.

“I feel like there’s a slightly vague avoidance to address Sisko and really what his legacy is in the world of ‘Trek,’” said Lofton. “In this latest iteration, there’s a lot of respect given to Picard and his adventures. … I just want that same kind of energy when you talk about Sisko.” Lofton suspects one reason the show hasn’t embraced Sisko’s legend so readily is that he was played by a Black man with a history of speaking on social justice issues in ways that make Hollywood bigwigs uncomfortable. “‘Star Trek’ has this duality,” he said. “It represents the ideals of what we want to strive for … where we work together for the common good and we explore the universe to spread knowledge and to help people. But the show is produced in Hollywood, which still has to deal with its own racism and bigotry and sexism.”

I think cis allies should start beating the shit out of anyone trotting out the trans = groomer line

No this is not a joke or hyperbole. They are trying to get people killed. Beat them up. Scare them. Make them fucking bleed. Teach them a lesson.

The facists have found this post and are upset lmao

Anyway hope you get your teeth smashed in 😘

I saw a video a while back where some nazi was clearly antagonizing outside of a drag show and one of the people responded "Do something then." And the nazi (already cowering back mind you) asked, "oh so you can get me with a hate crime?" And the guy with full rage said, "No so I can fucking kill you."

More of that please.

Life is kind of like Gundam. You got a kid (inner child) piloting a robot suit (adult body) facing challenges they're not prepared for but have to do (buy groceries). Char is there
