Hello, here's my list of most-often used tags

I've been getting a steady stream of new followers (hello, not sure why, glad you're here though) so I figured I should make a new pinned post about tags I use, so people can follow or filter accordingly.

#a friend - little guys who are friend-shaped. monsters, animals, and other things Resembling A Friend go here.

#current events - pretty straightforward. I repost things relevant to news and pertinent information: it's important to be educated on serious subjects.

#the band ghost - I like the goofy haha Satan band and keep a collection of these dweebs under this tag.

#sleep token - I also like the much more serious eldritch masked creature band.

#art, #video, #music, #story, #poetry - catch-all tags for stuff I enjoy but doesn't have a specific tag to go under.

#pacific rim - yes, it's a movie from a decade ago. Time means nothing, and my love for robots punching monsters is eternal.

#zeta writes stuff - also pretty straightforward. One day an original story will be tagged with this, but until then, it's usually AO3 links.

It's annoying that these are the most commonly used images of Venus because neither one is remotely what the planet actually looks like to the human eye. The one on the left is a radar image of the terrain below the cloud cover and the one on the right is an infrared view with greatly exaggerated colours. In actual reality the planet looks like an almost featureless white disk. The photo below was made by the MESSENGER probe on its way to Mercury and it's the most accurate to visible light close-up view of Venus we have.

There's something very powerful about knowing that underneath this solid, featureless mass of clouds is a burning, crushing wasteland.

I haven't personally verified this as I'm not at a computer, but multiple people in multiple places are saying the same thing. This is fucking insane. First the endless war on UBlock, then the Chromium changes to shut out some blocker functionalities entirely next year, now this?

Something is deeply rotten in recent Google/YouTube policy. I can't imagine that this is legal - how is this not anticompetitive? Google needs to get mega fucked in the press and the courts sooner rather than later.

And I need to switch to Firefox as soon as I get home.

here's a workaround for that for firefox users

I open my tumblr app and read this post, and I let it wash over me like the gentle tide. I know that when I die, this post, like the sweetest of sea foams, will be there to take me lovingly into the depths.

Tags collection (including my own), because this shit is infuriating.

tl;dr from the video:

this is a product being marketed as eco-friendly/sustainable/recycled and sold for a high price tag.

when taken apart the faux leather is basically a plastic coating (to give the outer leather texture) on a cloth core, with a thin layer of fuzzy leather dust glued on the inside (to give the inner leather texture)

it is very similar to existing faux-leather products, but with a marked up price

This short story by Junji Ito is about a fault that appears in Amigara mountain after an earthquake. The earthquake exposes countless human-shaped holes in the mountain which seem to have been made about a thousand years ago. People, intrigued by these  silhouettes, gather at the site and that’s when things get creepy.

It’s about a 15-20 min read, but if you haven’t read this before, you’re in for a treat. Link above.

i mean it’s not like i can just NOT reblog amigara fault. what if one of my followers is one of the lucky ten thousand who HASN’T been unutturably altered for life by it yet? go read it! it’s creepy, but trust me, it was made for you.

In the ocean's deepest trenches, a wandering and ancient Pokemon is said to be a beacon of light to those who are lost...

Finally painted an idea I've had for years. What if Lanturn, but giganormous? bighuge? an elder lad

Some internet language things I really like:

  • Phrases like “that’s certainly a thing”, “it’s so shaped”, or “one of the most animals” (is there a name for this?)
  • when people write with little to no punctuation like they are just so done
  • More specifically, asking questions without punctuation i.e. ‘what’ or ‘why’. It’s like, you want to know but also you are resigned to the answer?
  • When people capitalise The Thing for emphasis - particularly if they add a trademark symbol to really drive The Point™ home
  • How we use both bold and italic text for emphasis, but they convey it in different ways and I can’t quite explain how
  • Responding to things exclusively with punctuation, because sometimes words fail you and all you can say is !!!

[Image description: A poem titled "רַבִּי / رَبِّي" written Friday, November 17, 2023: Rabbī, I cannot praise your deeds. / Rabbī, no weeping moves you. / Rabbī, your justice is wedded to perversion. / Rabbī, your love looks much like your hatred. / Rabbī, the patriarchs have been gilt as idols. / Rabbī, the Temple has been built into a prison. / Rabbī, mixed multitudes have been spat on. / Rabbī, all oneness has been sported with. / Rabbī, ministering angels are consigned to wailing. / Rabbī, nameless infants are fed the world’s silence. / Rabbī, your nations have smeared the sea red. / Rabbī, your holy city has been split in two. / But by whom? / Rabbī, shall I say “them” or “us”? / Rabbī, which people is solely yours? / Rabbī, what image is divine alone? / Rabbī, when comes the Hour of Closing? / Rabbī, where hides the Place of Its Glory? / Rabbī, why? Answer now. Answer. End image description.]

note 1: as the title implies, "rabbī" may be read as the hebrew word for "a jewish cleric" or the arabic word for "my l_rd" (i.e., g_d).

note 2: this poem is written from an anti-zionist jewish perspective. therefore the question "by whom? / shall i say 'them' or 'us'?" is not meant to dispute palestine as the oppressed party. rather, it is meant to be taken extremely literally, because it is situated in my individual experience: should i—a muslim in the process of converting to judaism, who has been estranged from jewish community and had my conversion delayed because of zionism; who has no personal ties to israel but is nevertheless complicit in its genocidal actions by nature of living in the warmongering USA which uses my household's tax dollars to fund it; who believes that "all israel are responsible for one another" (shevuot 39a)—refer to the oppressors as "them" or "us"?

ways to help armenia:

ways to help other indigenous peoples around you:

i'm not the praying sort, but i'll probably always have a soft spot for the astronaut's prayer

for those who aren't familiar with it, it's a possibly-spurious quote by alan shepard (and is thus sometimes referred to as the shepard's prayer) on the launchpad of Freedom 7, immediately before he became the first american in space. it goes like this:

"Dear Lord, please don't let me fuck up."
