I’ve found that most of the time when people say they “don’t like rap or country”, it’s because they just haven’t heard enough of that type of music. Same when people say they don’t like classical music. Although the dislike of both rap and country is also tied into a feeling of superiority over the types of people who typically listen to those genres, IMO
it ABSOLUTELY is a superiority thing, considering the former is associated with black culture & the latter is associated with rednecks (that is, folks thought of as poor/uneducated). the classical music sort of goes the other way in my experience, where it’s sort of like… a reflexive backlash against something seen as elitist. kinda like art museums. if you go with friends and laugh about art you find silly, it’s a good experience. if you’re forced to find someone else’s meaning in some super deep allegorical whatever then it’s just tedious. gotta stop seeing opera as dramatic and start seeing it as melodramatic. check that Hot Gossip

This speaks to me so deeply. I don’t think there are any genres of music I categorically dislike, which might be because the entire idea of trying to determine what genre something is confuses and upsets me. “What kind of music do you like?” is high on my list of Least Favorite Questions.
genres have always been weird arbitrary lines that are thin as a gnat’s wing & tends to wiggle all over the place, esp considering there’s a lot of artists who go out of their way to mess with genres and a lot of artists that don’t really confine themselves to specific styles. I’m still, like, confused about. pop. I don’t understand it.

I am honestly, legitimately, 100% no foolin, really confused about what’s classified as pop. I think folks are skewed towards putting female artists into the pop box, but imo contemporary country kind of uses the same kinda sounds sometimes? Either that, or something that’s pop is definitely pulling from a specific genre, so like, might as well classify it as… funk..?? At least with rock you can say… guitar…. but pop just covers way too much, the sound’s too varried
I mean originally “pop music” just mean “popular music”, so what happens is that pop music 20 years ago is completely different from now. I mean that is kind of a thing with all genres, but pop definitely evolves the most in a short span of time.
so “I don’t like pop” just seems to be a non-hipster way of saying “I don’t like mainstream music”

Sure, I'm good with all music genres, except pop, rap and country. ... It's a joke, srsly though, I find it hard to like most pop I hear and the same with country. Pedophiles (and I mean MAPs and all the sugary names they give themselves) are all cordially invited to die in a ditch and I don’t care about the ~~moral purity~~ of that statement. If you disagree, block me and never look at me again. Call me out. Put me on an anti list. I don’t give a fucking shit.
Also, on a note, “non offending” pedophiles who interact with children and talk to children about sex, purposefully expose children to sexual conversations and rps and porn, that talk to children and form friendships with children and talk to them about being a pedophile, who fucking groom children into having sympathy for them, are NOT “non offending”.
You are putting children at risk, you are getting off on these interactions, you are abusing these children, you are giving them scars they will struggle to heal from and struggle to accept.

This whole “pedophilia as mental illness” discourse is literally pedophiles and apologists using SJ-esque language to pressure children into accepting pedophiles into their lives. Christ.
Normally I don’t reblog posts like these because thinking too much about it makes me feel bad, but this post brought up some good point. In my opinion, even if it is a mental illness(and even if you don’t think it is a mental illness, please see a psychiatrist anyways) the only course of action any “MAP” should take is to see a psychiatrist(like I just said, repetetive, yes I know), there is no need to be forming any tumblr communities or anything, it only invites other pedophiles to be more open about it or at the very least communicate with each other, there’s no need for pedophile-solidarity, if you’re really not in a risk of being a sex offender, then why bother with all of this? And if you are at risk, go see a psychiatrist. I don’t see why there needs to be a community or anything. Just makes me very uncomfortable.

What is pooh baseball?
a few years ago, 4chan’s /v/ board discovered a game about playing baseball with Winnie the Pooh characters on Disney’s Japanese website
the thing about this game was that it was insanely difficult. the “normal” characters in the game’s earlier levels required pretty precise timing to hit their pitches, and as you progressed through the games levels and made it to characters like tigger and owl the game flat-out started cheating. tigger’s pitches would zig-zag in mid-air, owl’s pitches would turn invisible halfway through and you had to hit them on pure timing alone, and so on. it was insanely hard and everyone was enamored by it. why is this winnie the pooh game for babies insanely hard, requiring reaction times that almost seemed inhuman?
then people beat all of those characters and made it to christopher robin. christopher robin was next to impossible to beat. he incorporated every previous character’s throwing quirks and would switch them up with every pitch. he would sometimes even combine them, like pitching invisible screwballs. you couldn’t defeat him.
everyone on /v/ loved this game. it gelled perfectly with the internet’s sense of humor at the time. people would photoshop christopher robin’s face on meteors with winnie the pooh preparing to bat the meteor out of the sky. fancomics were drawn. christopher robin became an angry god hell-bent on destroying everything in his path, winnie the pooh became earth’s last hero standing in defiance of the gods. it was insane. all because of this weird, insanely difficult japanese winnie the pooh baseball game.

I legit panicked a minute ago. I was thinking about when school applications ended when I suddenly remembered the date march 15, I had not looked up any information about applications this year so thinking march 15 and feeling a great sense of familiarity with the date felt very scary. So I rushed to the website where you can read up on this stuff and found out that march 15 was the day you can START applying, great relief in the end, but I feel like I’m too unorganized to being doing anything when I forget to check important stuff like that.

I think they’re feminists, just not feminists I care to associate with.
I think turning a blind side to parts of the community that hold positions you don’t agree with is destructive, to outsiders it doesn’t seem that we’re not acknowledging transphobia among feminists. I wrote a post a long time ago that said something along the lines of “calling transphobes not feminists doesnt make the problem go away” by which I meant that it is better to recognize the problem and deal with it in a constructive manner than by chanting mantras over and over. Which isn’t perhaps common, but it certainly isn’t something unheard of. I knew a person once who had feminism taught to them as an imperfect unfallible ideology, not that anyone told them it was any of those things necessarily, but because that’s the light they’d seen it in. I don’t know exactly what caused it, but as soon as they noticed flaws within feminism this person started believing all these ideas religiously, going from a feminist leftist anti fascist to a racist antifeminist rightwinger.
