the other day on reddit people were going OH MY GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE about someone's post history so naturally I looked despite all the dire warnings

even if you care deeply about some specific kind of suffering you do not have to fill your life with as many upsetting stories of that type of suffering as possible. that is just signing up to have a bad time.

- also said "And I’m telling you, kids here just don’t understand this hanky panky of people going around chopping off their breasts" (fearmongering about top surgery from 1975!)
- Steve won his wrongful termination suit, but the school board then accused him of misusing sick leave because he took time off to medically transition. He tried to fight this but after four years he could not afford the legal costs.
- He was never able to return to teaching even after winning his lawsuit because no one would hire him, so he had to completely switch careers.
erasure is not a lack of hatred or violence towards transmascs. its a culture of silence around that violence. you cannot know how people see transmascs by only looking at how they treat us when they think we're cis men.

a great thing about people transitioning is it presents us with scenarios where we have the perfect control variable to undeniably reveal sexism in the workplace. I read about a trans man neuroscientist who was told he was “so much smarter than his sister” (his sister being his pre-transition self)
and damn i knew the gaming industry was notoriously sexist (even more sexist than other stem fields, and that’s saying a lot) but seeing it laid out so clearly like this is so demoralizing.

As recently as 2016 I had some dude at a company meeting stand up and DEMAND to see these “feeeemale gamers” because HIS wife sure didn’t play games! Meanwhile there’s about ten of us sitting behind him. That he works with. Everyday.
I’m afab and I have black hair- I’m part Asian. My linked in profile showed me with short, black hair. I wanted to move on from a job that wasn’t willing to give me a title bump or a raise, so I was applying elsewhere and not getting traction. Changed my profile pic to one of me wearing a blonde wig and suddenly I started getting recruiters contacting me. The offers weren’t any better or worse, but at least they were giving me a chance.
I’ve even had an interview with a character team at a very well known company where one guy asked if I was “afraid of the male form” because I had done most of the female characters for the game- beautifully i may add. I was so flabbergasted(there are male characters in my portfolio) I didn’t even know what to say other than “Nevermind, I don’t want this job.”
I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

They also refuse to actually show the parameters you searched for. If you sort by “upload date,” the first few videos might be more recent ones by upload date, but anything past that you’ll find a video that was uploaded five years ago, then five months ago, then three years ago, etc, which—NO! That’s NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!! PUT THEM IN ORDER!!!
Also sometimes the “people also watched” bullcrap will not only be entirely unrelated, it will also be videos with violent, sometimes outright triggering thumbnails. I’ve gotten some AWFUL unrelated video thumbnails just when searching for video game music videos.
