before we begin i would just like to say this post will contain my personal gnosis as well as SPG and such will be stated or will be marked with an "*" along with this, a lot of information was also pulled from different beliefs, grimoires, and other sources. Lucifer has many, 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮, different masks and beliefs tied to him. i will try my best to touch on all of them, but there could be minor ones that i don't mention. i made this post to honor my patron and to hopefully enlighten people of him.

first and foremost we must start with who Lucifer even is, which is a very complicated place to start. so let's first touch base on what his core values / core common traits are among every "mask / aspect" of him are, the criteria being; embodiment / personification of the morning star [ which is also known the planet venus, however is not to be confused with deities like lady aphrodite, lady venus, etc. ], a divinity of enlightenment and of knowledge. of course as time went on and more gnosis and documentations of him appeared, so did an added list of things Lucifer domains and who he exactly is, but the things i listed above are simply the bare bones and basis of who Lucifer is and what he stands for, every "mask" having its own branching differences. Lucifer has many, 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮, "masks" or aspects tied to him [ be that seen as separate entities or one entity and we will get to that in a moment ], be that his infernal / demonic aspect, fallen angel, draconian, atlantean god, angelic, greek god, roman god, or even egyptian god [ and there are more ] - almost every belief has a personification of the morning star and a deity whom brings enlightenment to humanity [ in some shape or form ] and that is who Lucifer is and what he represents.

𝐦𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬

Lucifer has many, many mythologies - so to keep this post as brief as i possibly can, i will be speaking on the most common mythologies vs all of them. [ we will however touch on as many of his aspects / masks that i can within the next segment ]. this section is dedicated to discussing origins and beliefs of Lucifer.

꒰ 𝙘𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮

depending on the branch of christianity, church, person etc. you ask - his story will vary, but this seems to be the general and basic story of Lucifer and his fall :

Lucifer was the most beautiful angel and was cast out of heaven due to his pride and loathing of humanity; as he wanted to be God and worshipped by humans thus becoming God's equal. he then goes by many names within the Bible : Satan, Beelzebub, Mephistopheles, Lord of Lies, Prince of Darkness, the Serpent, and the Red Dragon, just to name a few. after the great war among the angels loyal to God and Lucifer and his angels, he is then cast out and while on earth turns into a serpent and tempts Eve and her husband to eat the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, which then causes humanity to fall away from God and create sin, destruction, discord, and turmoil.

then getting his "revenge" on both humanity and on God by destroying the very thing God loved so much [ humans ]. in Revelation 12:9 we see Satan [ or Lucifer as their names were interchangeable in Christian belief ] take form of a dragon / serpent to devour and destroy the earth and to deceive people with lies with his angels by his side :

what is interesting about Lucifers overall story in Christianity is that he takes many forms, and not only that, he and other demons [ in NIV ] are described as angels still despite them being fallen. this could be argued in a multitude of ways but i believe it does show that despite being separate from God, that he and the other demons are still Divine. now notice how the verse says "...called the devil, or Satan" and not the name Lucifer; it can be argued whether Lucifer is or isn't a demon all day and all night, as the only real valuable mention of the name Lucifer and bases of the belief of "he was a beautiful angel who fell and is now Satan" is from the verse in Isaiah 14:12 :

could it be discussing Lucifer as a fallen angel and then turned to Satan or as the bible knows him, the devil? possibly, but it could also be referring to [ which is my personal belief ] the morning star and only the morning star as it was more so a poem or song talking about the fall of the current King of Babylon [ King Nebuchadnezzar ].

within demonolatry Lucifer takes many different ranks, beliefs, etc. tied to him. in different grimoires and hierarchies from the medieval period [ which was strongly Christian thus had abrahamic ties to it and from that verse i listed above is why i believe his name is even mentioned as a demon ] he has mostly the title / rank of King or Prince. within the Ars Goetia Lucifer is the overarching and true leader / King but is never listed only mentioned when speaking of other demons. within the Dukanté hierarchy Lucifer has the title Emperor and is the elemental demon of air.

you get my point, he has many many titles - all of them pointing to esteem power, authority and of royalty. Lucifer, in his infernal light, is a demon of immense power and authority and is seen as the Emperor [ or Lord / Prince ] of Air, Enlightenment, Pride, Transformation, the Forgotten and the Lost. Lucifer is mostly shown via royalty, almost all of his titles showing that he is royal. he ranks high in Hell and high in the Council of the Infernal, he is very well versed, logical, skeptical, and full of knowledge and enlightenment.

where he resides in Hell can also be argued and vary within each hierarchy and such so it's up to you to determine your beliefs; within the Goetia Lucifer reigns over all of Hell. within the Dukanté we see he rules over the Element Air. and looking Satan and Sons believe that he resides in multiple planes of the Outer Spiritual World. to me, and in my personal hierarchy i have created, he rules over the Ether [ Air ] plane of Hell. but, where he truly rules over could be argued depending on belief.

i’ve had it asked often on which title Lucifer's “true” title is, and quite frankly, there’s no “one” answer. all of these titles show certain sides of him - not particularly masks [ we’ll get to those later ] - but they show his attributes and can tell about his character and personality if you understand what each means.

so let’s start with Emperor; being Emperor is the highest rank one could earn, demons who hold this title have characteristics of: honor, dignity, leadership, foresight, wisdom, and knowledge in the arts of war, sciences, and the fine arts. he is royalty and this is also shown via his title “King” which - in the Goetic Hierarchy is the highest rank a demon can receive, despite Lucifer not being written about in the Lesser Keys of Solomon, he is still mentioned. Lord is a title that all demons have and is the appropriate title to use if you do not know the demons correct ranking, Lord / Lady is to be used in place of that. Dark Lord is more descriptive of Lucifer, it touches more on his acceptance, transformation and development through the darkness that he fell to. Prince refers more so to the belief of the Seven Princes of Hell; Lucifer’s deadly sin being the Prince of Pride, and Pride being Lucifer's Achilles heel and pitfall out of Heaven.

Lucifer as a greek god takes on the name of Phosphorus, a minor greek deity whom is the son of Eos [ titaness of the dawn ] and Astraios [ god of the stars, astrology, & planets ]. Phosphorus and his brother Hesperus [ god of the evening star, who can also be compared to Lucifuge Rofocale within a demonic view ] are personifications of the come and go of the light.

because of this it can be argued that either of the brothers could be aspects of Lucifer due to Lucifer being a bringer of light and because Lucifer accepts and transforms via darkness. Phosphorus is seen as the dawn and torch bearer who brings light, which is very similar to what Lucifer believes and upholds as he brings light and knowledge to his followers and they become skeptical and amazing at critical thinking.

another god who could also be tied to Lucifer is Prometheus, the supreme trickster and god of fire, crafts, and medicine. Prometheus is the greek deity who gave humanity light, which could be seen as literal fire [ like in the story and also parallels the story of the serpent in the Garden of Eden ] but also knowledge to then create that fire. Prometheus also got in trouble with Zeus for giving humanity fire [ his punishment was to be bound with chains and Zeus sent an eagle to eat Prometheus' immortal liver every day, which then grew back every night ].

in the cult of Stregheria, Lucifer was known as a star god and was known as Dianus or Lucifer, he was the Lord of Light and of the Morning. Dianus Lucifer was the brother, son and consort of the goddess Diana [ roman goddess of the hunt ]; however in some mythos he is the son of Aurora and Cephalus. another note is that the latin name Lucifer was also used as a title among Roman / Gaul texts [ i.e. Lucifera Diana ]. Lucifer was also known as Dis [ Kern ] and had aspects of death and the afterlife tied to him. as Lupercus too in that he was tied with the "Son of Promises" and a bearer of hope and light. all of these aspects tying into Dianus Lucifer being a god of light, the morning star, death, and a bearer of hope and wisdom.it has three aspects that are important to note [ in reference to Dianus Lucifer ] :

the cuckhold; lord of the wild, the forest, god of fertility, sensuality and of death. the hooded; lord of cattle, plants and king of harvest and flora. and lastly the elder; lord of wisdom and guardian of shrines. because Dianus Lucifer is tied to these he also [ via the cult of Stregheria's belief ] had connections and ties to the greek god Pan.

꒰ 𝙙𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙣

Lucifers draconic mask is one that both he and Sameal share, Nightside, is the dragon whom empowers the individual who is seeking the draconian path. he [ Nightside ] is the keeper of the dragon flame which is what helps transform one into a better self. he helps those along the path alongside Lilith. this version of Lucifer is found in the Qliphoth [ tree of death, as opposed to the tree of life ] but is not the only dragon mask we see. as stated as before, in Revelation we see him in his dragon / serpent form. which causes me to believe that he, alongside Emperor Satan, are an ancient primordial being. he is the one who gave knowledge and enlightenment to humanity and iniates the path of true transformation via either the Qliphoth path or the Draconian Tradition.

꒰ 𝙖𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙣

Lucifer is referred as the horned god and the patron of witchcraft in Atlantean practice and the path. he is one who guards the gates to the void, the one whom taught the people of Atlantis magick, which gave them no limits and caused them to destroy themselves. he guided them to their unlocked potential, what they did after was up to them [ thus their own destruction fell ]. he, Hekate, Belial and Sepheranz are the "four pillars" and core to the Atlantean path and belief.

𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 / 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬

the term "mask" is commonly used when it comes to working, worshipping, or other of Lucifer. but what does it mean? in reference to Lucifer a "mask" is another divinity, aspect or "personality" that is tied to his divine energy that is / makes Lucifer. he has many of these masks and as stated in the who he is section, at his core he is the god of the morning star, knowledge and enlightenment.

so who are all of Lucifer's masks? well to compile a short list; Attar [ canaanite ], Helel [ babylonian ], Prometheus [ greek ], Phosphorus [ greek ], Dianus Lucifer [ roman ], Set [ egyptian ], Enki [ sumerian ]. these are only some who tie into being potential / are masks of Lucifer, however it's argued of their similarities and differences. there's many i didn't even touch on in this list such as the witches gospel version of Lucifer, the dark initiator, demonic, angelic, fallen angel, the trickster, etc.

my personal views on masks or aspects when it comes to Lucifer [ especially regarding other deities ] is that they are separate entities entirely, however that will vary if you are hard or soft polytheist. Lucifer to me ≠ Prometheus, Set, etc. he is his own entity and divinity [ to my belief, a left hand path deity of self godhood and enlightenment, which is why i also somewhat associate him with the demonic ]. but i also know people view divine energy as simply different interpretations which i also understand their view point and is completely valid, to quote dev, an occult friend of mine, on his thoughts regarding masks;

so it simply depends, i believe that they are separate [ as i believe the same regarding conpantheon, "recycling energy" yet separate - because i would argue that say, Dallyio, god of the dawn and morning star ≠ Lucifer ].

the mother of Phosphorus via greek mythology [ Eos being the titaness of the dawn ].

the father of Phosphorus via greek mythology [ Astraios being the god of the stars, astrology, & planets ].

Daedalion . . .

is said to be Hesperos' [ Phosphorus or Lucifer in greek mythology ] son and is the brother of Ceyx. Daedalion is seen as a great and mighty warrior in greek mythos.

Ceyx . . .

the brother of Daedalion and son of Phosphorus [ or Lucifer ], Ceyx and his wife Alcyone are most well known for their mythos and love life and controversy with Zeus [ king of the gods and god of the sky ]. Ceyx was the King of Trachis in Central Greece, and his and his wife's story is linked down in resources of you'd like to read more on both of them.

Diana . . .

Diana is the Roman goddess of the hunt and is often identified with Lady Artemis and Lady Hekate. Diana is seen as the Queen of Witches [ using the Gospel of Witches, not roman mythology ] she spilt herself and her counter part thus being Lucifer [ who in many accounts has been said to be the patron of witches ]. she is the darkness and Lucifer is the light, together they make perfect balance and harmony. Lucifer is seen as the solar masculine while Diana is seen as the primordial dark feminine.

Aradia . . .

the daughter of Diana and Lucifer, the mistress who went out into earth to teach the lower and suffering class witchcraft to fight against the Roman Catholic Church and other upper class. Aradia is mentioned in the Gospel of Witches and is seen as a balance between her mother and father [ light and darkness ].

Lucifuge Rofocale . . .

Lucifuge Rofocale is said to be Lucifer's brother, the quote opposite of Lucifer. as Lucifuge Rofocale embraces the darkness and runs from the light leaving an unbalance that still seems to work. he is a high demon in the Infernal Council who is strict, formal, and pushes his followers and those he works with to their absolute furthest. it's also said that Lucifuge Rofocale later transforms into Lucifer in the Ars Goetia; this, of course, is debatable and varies from belief.

God [ Christian ] . . .

of course, God, will be on this list as that is Lucifers father in the Christian view, God created Lucifer. it is said in some beliefs that God favored Lucifer for his beauty and talents of the arts [ as in some beliefs Lucifer was head of the worship to God via the arts, which is why he is a patron of the arts ].

Empress Eisheth Zenunim . . .

from my gnosis and workings with both Lucifer and Eisheth Zenunim, both are spoused to one another and balance each other beautifully [ both being associated with solar and star energies ].

Queen Lilith . . .

Queen Lilith has been said to be the wife of many demons, Lucifer being one of them. it would be foolish to say that she is only Lucifers wife, as she is listed as also Asmodeus, Satan and Sameals wife.

Queen Naamah . . .

it is theorized that Queen Lilith and Emperor Lucifer had Queen Naamah as their daughter. as some gnosis and theory speculates this because of the idea of Lucifer and Lilith reigning Hell alone. other theories say that Lilith and Naamah are sisters. so it is solely up to personal gnosis and theory.

so how does one go about worshipping or working with Lucifer? well that answer depends on what aspect you end up resonating with. so i'll touch on how to go about each [ the core ones; demonic, greek, and angelic. it's extremely important to research for yourself as certain religions and pantheons have certain traditions ].

working ;

to connect with Lucifer to work with him you can use his enn, guided meditations, divination, invoking or evoking. working with him [ as far as what he can aid in ] can entail of helping you with pride or ego, confidence, shadow work, any of the arts, baneful magick, warding, air elemental magick, transformation, developing clairs, and understanding yourself and your morals. [ his enn is further down with correspondences ].

worshipping ;

as a demonolator, the term worship has a different meaning. worship consists of revering demons and treating them with respect and honor, but also treating yourself that way. as the point is self godhood and transformation to its fullest, demonolators walk alongside demons, not behind them or lower themself under the demon.

working ;

approaching Prometheus or Phosphorus with upmost respect; divination, dreams, meditating and giving an offering is the best approach. Prometheus can help with the arts, intelligence, cunningness, science, architecture, and fire magick. while Phosphorus can help with enlightenment, knowledge, star magick, the arts, and retaining information.

worshipping ;

traditionally Phosphorus wasnt worshipped anywhere that i could find, Prometheus was though. Prometheus was worshipped in Kerameikos [ in Athens ] by mainly artists and masons / potters due to fire being needed for pottery. worshipping him can consist of giving ox meat [ if available to you ], olive oil, setting up a shrine space, pottery, mason working, prayers, songs, etc.

working ;

working with Lucifer the angel [ fallen ], you can use his sigil, meditation, divination, dreams, etc. Lucifer in his angelic light can help with accepting and overcoming your trials, overcoming ego, healing your inner child, warding, and the arts.

Lucifer can reach out to you via dreams, meditation, or he can give signs via animals such as spiders, ravens, and snakes. however, when it comes to determining signs it can be very difficult. signs are personally and that is why intuition and divination to confirm things, is extremely important. it is also important to note that Lucifer does not have to reach out for you to work with him, as you can reach out yourself. a good rule of thumb to follow when it comes to signs is ;

did it happen more than three times consecutively? what is my intuition telling me? is the animal common in my area? etc. etc. When all else fails too, use your divination tools, divination does not have to be fancy and can be rather simple such as charm or item tossing, dice, pendulum, etc.

A Witches Cord

A Witches Ritual Cord has a long history in the craft but I’d like to share with you a personal take. I have always been fascinated with knot magic, braiding charms, and weaving since I was young. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was in kindergarten and I was obsessed with embroidery knot bracelets and lanyard weaving as a child. The creation and the rhythm of winding the string was so soothing to me and put me in a very liminal mindset.

There’s an old charm called the witches knot spell that has made its way through time from secret circles to well known works still being published today. The chant generally goes as such:

“By knot of one, the spell's begun.

By knot of two, the magic’s true.

By knot of three, so shall it be.

By knot of four, this power is stored.

By knot of five, my will shall drive.

By knot of six, the spell I fix.

By knot of seven, the future I leaven.

By knot of eight, my will be fate.

By knot of nine, what is done is mine.”

This chant has been used in movies and television shows trying to give it certain purpose (and almost never in a way it was originally meant to be used), but it’s use in modernity does feel a bit ambiguous. There never seems to be a very specific target for the magic built in the knots using this well known chant.

I’ve read evidence this was used for the Witches Ladder which has a multitude of claims attached to it such as it was made to cause illness or death to a target, for protection, to steal milk from a neighbor, ect. I’ve also read that it was used to tie up the wind in knots to sell to sailors. But in general, the chant doesn’t really specify it’s intended purpose. It gave me an idea to take inspiration from this famous knot spell and give it some personalized direction.

I started by creating a foundation that could become a regular tool that could be reused over and over again and decided on a ritual cord braided at midnight under the light of the full moon. I wrote this chant to be repeated while braiding:

“By threads of red

I twist and bind

I weave my will

Into fates design”

I then tied up a permanent knot on each end capturing the moon. “Capturing the moon” is the act of looping the knot and pulling it tight while looking at the full moon through the loop. It’s a sympathetic way of capturing its power on each end of the cord.

This cord can now be used for knot spells, trance work (by pulling it between your palms to create tactile rhythm from the ripple in the braid), and protection by tying around your waist during spirit work. The knot spell I created, while not rhyming, uses language that I felt worked the magic more directly with my intent. The set up is still nine knots and each one builds upon the one before it. I start by anointing my hands in what I call “Witches Grease” or a type of flying ointment made from nightshades and waking up the cord up. The following is the spell as it is written in my personal grimoire.

Grease palms with Witches Grease and rub the cord each direction three times saying:

“I awaken the threads of fate” x3

When ready to start your rite, call

forth the Old Ones, the mighty dead,

the familiars, and any other spirits.

Begin your first knot and say:

1-By knot of one, I step into

the crossroads and open the gates

to the other world. (Tighten knot)

2-By knot of two, hear me spirits of above

and below, spirits of red, spirits of white,

spirits of grey and black. (Tighten knot)

3-By knot of three, I reach through the

light between the horns to grasp the space

between the stars. (Tighten knot)

4-By knot of four, I twist and pull on

the threads of fate. (Tighten knot)

5- By knot of five, I speak my will,

there for it is (say desire through the

loop and tighten when finished)

6-By knot of six, I reweave reality

in accordance with my will and

desire. (Tighten knot)

7-By knot of seven, may this spell

only be broken by this spoken phrase

(say phrase into the loop and tighten

when finished)

8-By knot of eight, may the spirits of

my land and familiars of the cross

courter ways be one with my desire

and aid its fruition (Tighten knot)

9-By knot of nine, I invoke the

power of the Old Ones. I cast

out the threads of this tapestry of

rewoven fate. And command this

destiny be sealed. (Tighten knot)

And so it is!

Once done, leave the cord at

your hearth or altar for the next 9 days.

On the 10th day, you may untie the

knots as it is no longer the cord

which binds the spell together. It is your new reality.

You’ll notice the verbiage follows my personal cosmology within the craft, but more importantly, you’ll notice two distinct knots that involve some specifics. Knot five involves speaking your direct desire into the loop before tightening and knot seven involves saying a specific set of words that when spoken aloud would break your spell. This phrase or set of words can be uttered at any time to end the magic holding your spell together.

The verbiage takes the idea of the original knot spell and and expands upon it by taking this braided cord and sympathetically connecting it to the fabric of reality. The idea that after 9 days the knots themselves are not holding the spell in place anymore as the fabric of reality itself is now rewoven according to your desire. The spell breaker phrase would be like pulling the thread that holds it all together.

Now, I love a classic spell and I know new magic can sometimes feel less appealing, but I encourage you to be promiscuous with your craft. Try new things. Tweek them and try them again. Classics are great but the potential in witchcraft for creating something new and personal to you is a kind of magic you can only make on your own.

Bats Head Root For Wishes & Good Luck

Bats Head Root (bat nut/ devil pod) is a magical seed pod that repels evil, turns away hexes, brings good luck and helps grant wishes. This plant curio received its name from the fact that it has a strong resemblance to the head of a bat. These pods work very well as a kind of all-purpose luck and positive effect charm. Keeping one of these pods in a small cloth or muslin bag above your doorstep is said to keep away enemies. Adding a Bats Head Root to a spell increases the power of the magick.

There are a couple different ways to use Bats Head Root to grant wishes. If you bury a pod in a pot of soil during a full moon you can ask it to manifest your wish. If you would rather call on Hecate, the goddess of the crossroads to grant your wish place 3 of the seed pods at a crossroads at midnight on the night of the new moon. Another method involves placing a written version of your wish under a Bats Head Root on your altar and giving it offerings of incense, candy or candles. It is said that Bats Head Root helps with divination and being aware of opportunities before they arrive.

Bats Head Root is native to Mexico. The plant grows best in very moist areas. Some women use the plant to help with menstrual issues although I would strongly suggest talking to a doctor or naturopath before using it in this manner.- Zwahk Muchoney (Image from m.indiamart.com)

Discernment: Let's Chat About It

Discernment, to discern = perceiving or recognizing something

Discernment is often presented or implied to be a magical or spiritual skill which allows a magical practitioner to accurately sense and interpret spirits/energies/gods/etc.

But is it?

Discernment is a mundane skill.

For me, the most important concept of discernment is that it's not inherently magical.

Discernment itself is literally just, "ah, I have perceived something." Have you ever played that little game where you look at two similar pictures and find the differences between them? That's an exercise in discernment - developing the ability to recognize what is present or not present.

In the witchblr, discernment usually automatically means discerning something spiritual. This is done through the faculty of psychic senses. Psychism provides sensory input. But just like my eyes can look at the picture game and fail to discern differences, I can be receiving psychic input and fail to discern it.

I don't think just having psychic senses is automatically "discernment."

The other day I was doing a reading for a friend. I tapped in to an intensely emotional thread of energy. I felt totally consumed by this emotion - and I also had no idea why it was happening, where it came from, or what was going on.

I would not have been able to detect this emotional energy unless I had psychic senses.

But at the same time, I totally failed to discern what was going on and what was happening to me. I wasn't able to recognize what was going on; I had no insight into the situation.

I think when people talk about discernment, they are talking about an intersection of both having psychic skills, AND being able to to interpret psychic input accurately.

As another example, over the years I have met amazing psychics and mediums with incredible natural talent. In one situation, a person I knew with spectacular raw skill was conversing with a malicious spirit. This spirit had shown, in my opinion, many obvious signs that they were malevolent. However, the psychic believed that the spirit was their true guide; they were unable to discern any malicious intent.

When I sought out the counsel of a friend with limited psychic skills, but a lot of discernment, that friend was able to immediately point out all the ways this spirit was presenting as malicious.

(If I have known you in the past and you think this might be about you: this exact scenario has happened to me like 10 times so there is a good chance it is not).

The psychic skills part of discernment is something you have to practice & build up to get better at it.

The good news is that you can practice to get better at it. It's under your direct control: if you have the time and energy, significant progress can be made in a relatively short amount of time (I'm talking months, not hours my friends).

There are a great deal of exercises and undertakings you can do to develop psychic senses. There are a heck of a lot of books out there that teach people to tap in to their natural psychism.

Almost all exercises which seek to engage with, feel, and understand energy and spirits will develop this center. I wrote this post about how to start communication if you don't feel like leaving Tumblr.

IMO, a large part of the 'wisdom & application' part of discernment is only going to come through personal development & experience.

This personal development can come through stuff like reading and talking to people doing the kind of work you want to do. IME a very great help is to develop a relationship with a helper spirit who will be able to act as a mentor and guide. But I also think its something that just gets better as you try to become a discerning person.

I don't know if it's as easy to just practice being wise (as one can practice a psychic game). Detecting energies in the moment doesn't necessarily tell you if, in a complex situation, they will end up being good or bad six months down the line. I don't know if I'm over-complicating this aspect, but I do feel as if its something that takes longer to develop.

I do think interpreting information, and then knowing the best course of action once an interpretation is made, is different from being able to gather information. I think that "discernment," as we talk about it in the blr, rests at the intersection between knowledge and wisdom.

I think a majority of people who are confused about discernment and don't know 'where to start' should try studying & developing personal psychism. These "extra senses" are how we gain input from otherworlds.

But I also don't think it's right to promote discernment as purely being about psychic sensing. I think we have to accept that people with psychism can be confused, mislead, or manipulated just like everyone else.

It can be easy to get overwhelmed by options when it comes to witchcraft studies. This list, while not complete, might give some ideas on what one might like to pursue.

1. Life Line Life line is obviously the most important line that can be found on the hand. 6. Health Line Line of health is situated below the mount of mercury (under the little finger). It can determine the health of a person and generally, it is considered as a good sign, if this line is light or is not present at all; such a person is expected to live a healthy and ailment free life.

7. Marriage Line It is a small line situated just above the line of heart at the corner of the mount of mercury. One can have one of more line of marriage. The stronger lines represent marriage relationship while the lighter ones reflect affairs. An absence of line of marriage would mean that the person will not get married in this life.

8. Ring of Saturn It is in shape of a half moon and it surrounds the middle finger. The person, who has such a ring, is expected to be of a very serious nature and someone who likes to live alone. Generally, it is not considered a good sign to have such a ring on the hand.

I was thinking about the healing crystals thing again, and why aren't there rocks that make your life worse instead of better?

like, if there are crystals that spiritually heal me and improve my relationships, it seems like there should be some that make me sexually frustrated, attract toxic people into my life, increase my anxiety, and scare away my spirit guides. I think that would be both logical and funny.

This commentary was added by me on a tats top vid.  I decided to make it a post because I figured it would be a good resource post for people into grimoires and other occult books. Add tags, reblog, share this around to your peers. It is as follows: SPOILERS DON’T READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO KNOW  DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK.  DABBLE AT YOUR OWN RISK   SPOILERS        What is funny is that the necronomicon is a book, although it is probably a work of fiction by fans of H.P. Lovecraft. I have a well used and much loved copy in my possession and bought it at book store chain brand new. It’s a funny little book and I love it dearly. H.P. lovecraft has a fantastic tone to his work and I highly recommend anyone who is a fan of it or likes occult books to check it out and look it up on amazon or see if your local book store has it.       I did a small bit of looking and compiled these resources for anyone curious what these texts look like. Some of these texts are in Latin and are untranslated. I’ve heard of some of these and have had them in my personal digital library for study.There really were a lot of grimoires that came out in the 1600s and later, such as the Grimoirum Verum. There’s figures mentioned such as Agrippa and John Dee and Eliphas levi  and Abraxas.  There’s also a bunch of interesting things Aleister Crowley wrote…There’s just so much interesting occult knowledge out there.      A lot of it can be difficult to sift through for the everyday person, as these books and texts were NOT written for everyday people. They were written for other occult scholars or magicians. It takes a period of study to even be able to sift through any of them and gain something, often times MANY YEARS of study for just one text.         Now..as a person with some occult and supernatural experience I would ask people not to go do things willy nilly and then be surprised when bad or weird shit happens.  I’m not your Mom.  It is your life and you must deal with the consequences of your actions.                Hopefully that paragraph took up enough space so people don’t accidentally see the list if they’re enjoying listening to the video. The Ultimate Guide to Potion Bases

We all spend so much time thinking about the correspondences of the actual ingredients that go into our potions that we often forget to think about what the potion base represents! (At least I do.) It would be nice to have a list of all the various liquids that can be used in place of water. Naturally, I can’t think of everything but I think this is a pretty good starting point! What else can be used? Eventually, at some point down the road, I will compile all these thoughts into a book on potion making and want to include this! Keep in mind that these are my own correspondences. Let me know if you disagree or if you’d change anything up! Let’s see how big we can make this list. Also, I should probably note that not all of these liquids can be ingested. (Obviously.)

Vinegar: Used for cleansing and purification potions.  Lemon Juice: Used in hexing, cursing, or revenge potions.  Cranberry Juice: Used in love potions. Apple Juice: Used in healing, knowledge, and youth potions.  Ammonia: Used in banishing, cursing, purification, and protection  Red Wine: Love potions and potions dealing with death and the afterlife.  White Wine: Used in platonic love potions as well as success brews.  Rum: Used in potions involving spirit work.  Whisky: Another good base for potion work.  Vodka: A good base for work involving rapid banishing.  Laundry detergent: Good for cleansing potions.  Oils: Used to speed up a process.  Molasses: Used in potions intended to slow a situation down.  Rubbing Alcohol: Another good base for cleansing and purification. The term “weather magic” or “weather witching” has been used to mean anything from divination and forecasting of weather to actual control and manipulation of the weather itself. From calling up treacherous storms to destroy another’s crops or providing fair winds for those at sea, witches (and even those who do not consider themselves to be such) have always been involved with weather magic. When you consider that most forms of magic are based around an agricultural past, the ability to affect and predict the weather was considered an invaluable skill. After all, if your family’s livelihood depended on the success of your crops (or the ability to find water as it did in my family’s case), weather magic would be an extremely handy thing to know.

Why the url Storm Born Witch?

I am quite fortunate, as the gift for weather related magic comes easily to my family. For generations, the men in my family have been dowsers or water diviners. However, it wasn’t until after I displayed an aptitude to weather related magic that I was told about my family’s history with it. My grandfather was the last water diviner in the family and he died when I was very young so I was never taught how to divine for water. My grandmother was the one to teach me what little she knew about weather magic - the rest either occurred naturally or I picked up along the way.

This is the most common form of weather magic and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Depending on the pitch and tone of the whistle a witch can create a gentle breeze or a sharp gust of wind. Traditionally, if the skill of whistling up a wind does not come naturally to you the option of making a ‘wind whistle’ out of willow or alder wood is available.

Here in Australia, whistling up a wind is probably the most common form of magic I do. I honestly do not go a day without whistling up a cool breeze. It’s bloody hot here and sometimes a cool breeze is just what you need.

Storm Casting

Storm casting is the art of creating storms. There are many different methods to creating storms and bringing rain. The method used by my family is to fill a jug with water and while sitting outside (or facing a window) pour the water into a basin or bowl. Dip the tip of your pointer finger into the water and slowly make five clockwise circles in the water (if you have a pendant necklace this can be used instead - just above the water in the bowl). As you are making the circles call the wind to bring in a storm by blowing (or whistling a continuous low note - the sound of wind over the mouth of a glass bottle) over the water in the basin.

Ways to Stop a Storm (Dispersing, Binding & Preventing)

There are multiple ways to stop a storm. The most common are dispersing or binding storms. However there are also ways to prevent storms from coming by directing them away from where you are. This is great if you’re holding an event outside and you need good weather.

Dispersing

This method involves spreading the storm out over a large area thereby minimising its effects. You can disperse a storm by calling winds to blow it away (or in a certain direction) or if you favour using weather maps you can draw the low pressure system moving away and gradually dissipating.

Binding (Storm Catching)

This method is also called ‘storm catching’ and involves catching a storm and binding it within an object (usually a bottle or knots) so it can be released gradually at a later date by pulling out the cork or undoing the braid/knots.

Storm catching or “reeling in a storm” is even more difficult than storm casting so it’s always wise to think before you cast. Too much energy put into a storm and it will go on for weeks (and cause some flooding - basement incident) or it will be extremely violent and knock down power lines and tree branches. Too little energy and all you will get is a 5 minute shower of rain.

Preventing a Storm (Weather Maps)

However, if you wish to prevent a storm from forming, you’re going to have to pull out the weather maps. To make a weather map all you need to do is to print out a map of your local area or the area you’re trying to keep a storm away from.

Just use google maps and don’t make the area too big or you might seriously strain yourself magically. Then laminate the map - now you have your own ‘whiteboard’ to draw weather symbols on to generate certain types of localised weather.

To practice this kind of magic you really do need to know how weather systems work and how they’re likely to move; knowing a little bit about meteorology goes a long way.

Once you’re ready, find out what the weather is predicted to be and draw it on your map. Now draw the high/low pressure systems moving so that the area you’re trying to protect doesn’t get rain. This method can also be used to bring rain to a certain area.
