I'm generally of the opinion that trying to resurrect prematurely cancelled shows is like necromancy—odds are they'll come back wrong.

Except for Galavant. Any Galavant revivial will be funnier the longer it stayed cancelled.

Tags pass peer review, etc, because they SO perfectly capture the spirit of the show.

I’m Brazilian and my strongest memory relating to a roundabout was when me and my family were walking near my grandparent’s house. My little brother asked what the circle in the ground was and my dad explained the concept of a roundabout, “you’re supposed to go around it, so the road is more organized, look, there’s a car coming, you’ll see how it works” and that car just. Fucking ran over it. Dude just went forward like the road was straight. We never saw anyone do that again and I’m still not over it

self-flagellation and self-bullying are all bad motivators for change BTW. it can be hard to escape from a spiral but genuinely u have to be nice to urself or nothing will change

you have to take care of yourself and not punch yourself down because you feel like you 'deserve it'. if you feel like the world is against you, you should at least be on your own side while you work through things.

I may have already rambled about this, but at some point in my career, I took "yes and" from the improv world and applied to to all professional settings and it's honestly one of the greatest tools for me, of all time.

Someone making an unreasonable request for my time/attention but I gotta play nice? ie, "Hey can you pull thing XYZ together for me today?"

"Yes and I'm going to need until next Friday to complete it w/ everything else on my plate. Thanks for your patience!"

Someone super enthusiastic about an idea w/ a kernel of goodness among a sea of shit?

"Yes, that's a great idea, and I think to make it really work, we need to change..."

In fact, if I'm being real REAL, I use "yes and" here all the time, too, to add stuff that I think is VERY important on a give topic but is missing from a post that otherwise has a good take. Like there's no need to be like, "UGH YOU FORGOT" when instead I can say something like, "Yes, this is awesome, AND I want to add..."

People all have very different communication styles in professional settings and I'm someone who is fairly conflict adverse. I will typically err on the side of harmony, trying to cultivate positive rapport and good team rhythm, w/ anyone else who is also acting in good faith. I haaaate overtly negative conflict, arguing, etc. and frankly it triggers me. Of course sometimes I have to steel my spine for hard convos and I would never avoid productive/healthy conflict.

When there's no need for overt conflict but a gentle redirect will help, "yes and" is a hell of a tool.

This is actually also great for working with kids: allowing them to be heard and to provide input while still directing the structure of a day in a classroom. I work in special education and use "yes, and" both with our own kids and with the gen. ed kids we integrate with during electives. It's a great tool, especially with kids who struggle with staying on task or setting realistic goals.

Yooooo my nonprofit professional career started in direct youth services 20 years ago and YUP this is extremely true. I’ve been more of a fundraiser/office kind of employee for long enough I forgot this was my original application of “yes, and” in a professional setting. Great add.

never will forget the gay porn I watched where the director quietly told the bottom to “lose the anime voice” and you could see overwhelming disillusionment form in his eyes

sad news today. Beeftongue, slug beloved, is no more. it lived just over a year, a good long time for a Florida leatherleaf, and tasted dozens of lettuces and other delicious vegetation beyond any slug’s dreams. found under a fallen stop sign in Miami, I was honored to share some time with this awesome beast.

farewell, Beef.

Beeftongue is survived by Bupkis, who continues to stubbornly exist despite being over 2, and all of its brood
