I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

"I despise your wretched little games" perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy

dandelions are so cute and bright and whimsical I can’t believe there’s whole sections of hardware/home stores dedicated to killing them why are they americas #1 most hated flower

she’s so sweet just let her grow :(

A lot of people love that fake Voltaire quote, "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize," because it's just vague enough to cover everyone's differing definition of who they are. Obviously the neo-Nazi who made this quote up meant it to imply Jewish people, but there's actually lots of different groups that aren't considered socially acceptable targets of specified critique.

You know who no one ever lets me criticize? Orphans. Anytime I try to point out that orphans are living lavishly at the expense of hardworking taxpayers, people around me always seem to get disgusted. Naturally, this suggests that we live in a world ruled by orphans

"whocares ita just a bug its just a bird its just a fish" ohhhh its just the miracle of life on earth . its just the beauty of biodiversity in my local area. its just millions and millions of years of tiny changes to a bucnh of little strands of amino acids and eventually all these circumstances brought us to this moment.but i only like this one kind of bugs so i want all the other ones to DIE I think their amino acids that took millenia to develop are DUMB AND WORTHLESS and who cares about them who cares I just want to have some stupid plants in my yard that wish they lived somewhere completely different so bad and I have to constantly battle to keep their sickly bodies functioning in this place they were never meant to live. because I saw it in a magazine

This post is about how total extermination on a species-wide scale for the sake of capitalist concepts of value and convenience is wanton destruction of unique and irreplaceable pieces of the one and only ecosystem we know exists for certain, which has taken millions of years to manifest as we know it.

Consumption of other individual animals, in sustainable amounts, is a feature of this ecosystem that cannot be written out. An animal being eaten to sustain another animal does not in any way diminish the value of the consumed.

This is a necessary exchange within the biosphere's self-perpetuating system. Death and consumption for the sake of survival are themselves a beautiful and irreplaceable expression of millions of years of evolution and circumstance coming together to allow us to exist in this moment and be consciously aware and able to appreciate it.

So like. Do consider sustainability! And be grateful for what you consume. But the responsible consumption of the meat of other animals as a necessary part of our diet as omnivores is a neutral act on an individual basis.

Hearth vs Grammar

Hearth thinks of himself as a singular (and male) unit with each sub-division being merely a body-part, even though they appear as separate bodies, which makes grammar an interesting adventure.

Imagine he’s talking about scraping his knee rather than the little man and the grammar should click

Also yes this means when the little woman is speaking as his voice, you’d still say “he said”

Help For Canada

Here are some ways to help out some of the Canadians who's lives have been forever changed by the wildfires. (From @mugsy, someone who's there, in the country, and feeling pretty damn scared.) United Way Halifax (https://www.unitedwayhalifax.ca/give/united-way-halifax-wildfire-recovery-appeal/)

Alberta.ca Disaster Assistance (https://www.alberta.ca/disaster-assistance-and-recovery-support.aspx)

RedCross.ca Disaster Assistance (https://www.redcross.ca/how-we-help/current-emergency-responses/atlantic-canada-wildfire-responses)

And a GoFundMe for their coworker (https://gofund.me/f30934aa)

I would also highly recommend donating to victims from East Prairie Métis Settlement and Little Red River Cree Nation in Alberta, which were hit extremely hard by the fires.

You can find a collection of links for EPMS here (https://linktr.ee/epmsfire)

Little Red River has an official GoFundMe here as well (https://www.gofundme.com/f/fox-lake-fire-evacuees)

Indigenous communities have been some of the hardest hit and least assisted. If you have the means to donate, please please give directly to impacted communities. It goes a long way
