  • It’s fucking hilarious
  • It’s a musical and all the songs are original and catchy as fuck
  • The majority of the cast of people of color
  • Amazing LGBT representation (here’s a song about being bi that shuts down but stereotypes https://youtu.be/YUDab9piv_U)
  • The main character is Jewish and her culture is recognized
  • Despite its name it actually has incredible mental illness representation including the best portrayal of bpd I’ve ever seen in media
  • Had a married mother get an abortion because it wasn’t the right time for her to be pregnant completely normalizing any woman getting an abortion for any reason because it’s her choice
  • Did I mention how hilarious it is??
  • Took the “women fighting women” trope kicked it in the ass, turned it around, and made it gay
  • It has explained women’s anatomy in funny but informative ways
  • It’s literally so funny, the music is great, the characters are relatable, and it touches on important issues in a light-hearted way that doesn’t down play their importance
  • It’s on Netflix!!

someone's therapist said once that "if you don't have energy to make a sandwich, just eat it's ingredients," and I've been living by that advice ever since

Anonymous asked:

You have hpd, yes? How do you cope with feeling ignored or undermined? I have npd myself so I think we're similar with needing positive attention? So like... what do you do. How do you cope.

Something that can help me is looking back at old messages where I was paid attention or appreciated. For example with an old FP I would save the nice messages from them, as well as complimentary messages from others. And, personally, giving myself some self love can help! Reminding myself of my achievements and treating myself

What do you do, or how do you cope, when you feel too intense for others? Or when people say that I tend to be overly enthusiastic about everything and that I see every fictional character in me? .-. It honestly hurts me and I never know if I’m then changing for them or for the sake of my own personal development.

Not having a foundational sense of self sucks. It’s all so confusing and fucks with our ability to meaningfully interact with people. I cope with trauma based therapy (and the exercises I learn in there). Here’s a technique I learned to separate yourself from loud emotions: 1. Close your eyes and visualize a window, behind it is the mood/emotion/inner critic that prevents you from being your true self. What do you see? 2. Picture getting up and looking closely at the window. What is ‘it’ doing now? Imagine the people in your support system with you on your side of the window if this gets too scary.  My therapist had me do this whenever I started to feel my emotions overpowering me. If you can give them a name and a face, you start to recognize them as separate from you.  My initial emotion is imagined as a BPD gremlin pissed that it doesn’t have more control, but when I get up to examine it through the window, it turns into a feral kitten. Scared, hissing and confused.

Timeless (2016) S1E012 - The Murder of Jesse James

Bass Reeves, protrayed by Colman Domingo. Rufus Carlin, protrayed by Malcolm Barrett.

It’s true!

Bass Reeves was so dedicated to the law, he even arrested his own son Bennie for the murder of his wife. Bennie was sentenced to life in prison. With over 3000 arrests, 14 kills, went his entire 32 year career in law enforcement without being shot once.

He was assigned to bring in the notorious female outlaw Belle Starr. Once she got wind who was after her she turned herself into the federal court.

Reeves was one of a few Marshalls who would venture into Indian territory *oklahoma*. After the age of 67 he retired in 1907. He enjoyed his short lived retirement as a police officer in Muskogee Oklahoma, his assigned beat had 0 crime reported until he died at the age of 71 of Bright’s disease.

He was one of the true gun slingers of the west.

I would expect nothing less from a man with such a magnificent mustache

I love the story of Bass Reeves!

One of his famous tactics was, if he was captured or in danger by a criminal he was hunting down, he would ask them to read a letter from his wife before they killed him. He used their distraction to free himself and get the upper hand.

He was also a freed slave. George Reeves, his owner and reason for his surname, took Bass with him to fight in the Civil War. However, George became violently angry after Bass beat him at a card game, and Bass was forced to fight him (or kill, on some accounts) in self defense.

After running away and entering Native American territory, Bass learned how to speak the languages of the ‘Five Civilized Tribes’ (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muskogee, Seminole). This part of his life is where he mastered marksmanship. He got married and had a family after the Emancipation Proclamation was declared, and then later became a Marshal, going on the adventures listed above (and many more… Another famous criminal that Bass captured was Bob Dozier.)

He was the very first black US Marshal. May we never forget him, as history would suffer to lose such an outstanding figure.

Always, always, always reblog Bass Reeves.

^ SO MUCH TRUTH

No, but you can misinform. You can with-hold information like the lag time it takes for ballots to get in. You can avoid posting any information at all about how to do mail-in voting. You can discourage it. You can smear campaign it. And you can make it very inconvenient.

Guys listen - REGISTER and CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION FREQUENTLY

Please note that Absentee and Mail-in Voting are being impacted by COVID 19. Go HERE to do some reading about Early and Absentee Voting.

Every state’s rulings/ regulations on Mail-in Voting are different. Check HERE for what’s happening in  YOUR state.

Some states are sending out absentee / mail in ballots automatically. MOST aren’t.  You need to be registered and you have to REQUEST one and the stipulations for requesting one are different for each state. So check yours for the requirements.

If you are voting by mail-in ballot please be aware that the deadlines for getting those votes in are BEFORE NOVEMBER!!

Don’t sleep on this. It’s coming up faster than you think and I can GUARANTEE YOU that the conservative right-wing pro-dumpster-fire people are going to do whatever it takes to get as many votes in as possible.

The opposition VASTLY outnumbers them, but that only matters if we DO SOMETHING.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALLOW TWO WEEKS TO MAIL IN YOUR BALLOT

THINK OF OCTOBER 20TH AS ELECTION DAY THIS YEAR!
