The Yume Nikki Fangame Inspiration Folder 2 is here! 

(+ the 2015 original version!)

Apparently the original Yume Nikki Screenshot folder was more useful than I thought.  So, I ended up making another one & reuploading the first one for some help to all those out there looking to make a fangame (or just like looking at other people’s pixel art).

What this is is just a giant folder with a bunch of little folders filled with screenshots of various fangames, sorted by world type.  Most of these aren’t the entire fangame as that’s a bit hard to capture, but instead a taste of a few different worlds.  There’s also some gifs from @yumegifi in addition to stillshots of games!  The quality varies from fangame to fangame, but even the fangames that aren’t the best are good to know about so you don’t make the same mapping mistakes as they did.   Fangames in this pack include:

While as of now I plan to make a Yume Nikki fangame I want to keep things vague about them, but I can say there will be an interesting dynamic between them.

Returning Nightmares is an exploration adventure-horror game being developed in RPG Maker 2003, inspired by Yume Nikki and it’s multiple fan-made homages (but with dialogue & easier to navigate maps).  You play as Akira, a young man locked up in his own bedroom, exploring his dreams to remember the events that lead him to where he is now.  But some things are better left alone… 

Demo features include:

It’s a partially silly, partially serious game, so there is blood, gore, death, & suicide mentions for those sensitive to it.  Depending on how fast you are at finding things, the demo can take anywhere from 1-2 hours to finish.  You should not need to download the RTP to play this game, but if you do, you can get it here from the official site.

To any of you who downloaded it within the past 20 minutes, there was a file error that was corrected (the vehicle file was in the wrong type of png, should be converted to png-8 if you want to do it yourself). You can either redownload it (links are still the same) or use an image editor or online converter to edit the vehicles file in the charaset folder!
