Huh, I sort of agree. I think that he realized that he liked her at the end of 2x05, when she gave him the guide to National City, because it was such a small gesture to her, but it was a caring one too. And the smile that he gave her was so genuine because people didn’t usually do nice things like that to him unless they wanted something (cuz he was a prince so I’m sure a lot of people tried to use him for favors and stuff).

As for when he realized he LOVED her, I would say it was when Mxy showed up. Seeing Mxy hit on Kara made him realize just how intense and deep and true his feelings for her really were, and that’s why he acted the way he did and said that she was his Kryptonite and that he didn’t even know that there were that many feelings. He was feeling them for the first time. She was his first real love. 

I think the mxy thing was for sure when he knew he loved her (or I can picture him realizing it lying in bed with her that night, aww…) I mean he was ready to fight that guy to the DEATH. But man, those heart eyes he gave her at her apartment after the Cadmus thing when he asked Winn and James if she was single? I think that’s when I really started hard core shipping them. That boy was crushing so hard he didn’t know what to do with himself.

And I don’t think he’d ever expected to fall in love with anyone ever, you know? That’s not what his people did. His parents certainly weren’t loving towards him. He’s never talked about anyone else from back home. Kara was more than his first love, she was the first family he ever had. And in loving her he became part of her family. I’m actually really frustrated that early in the season not ONE other character, even Winn, says anything to the effect of “we miss him too”. I mean jonn told Lar Gand that Mon was part of their family but then in the first or second episode he’s all “we’re not the one who lost someone” uh yeah you did. You lost your son in law. Because even though they weren’t together that long were all know these two space puppies were basically married. Certainly they each must have thought the other was the one. Planned some kind of future together. I’m not sure Kara ever thought she would find someone, hence the whole speech about choosing being sg over having a relationship. Neither of them ever really expected to fall in love. Until (against tremendous odds, I mean they both floated in space for years and landed in the same city the same age, I mean?) they found each other. Damn I love their story.
