Y’all laughing at how dumb this dialogue is but remember he got kidnapped. A child saying what they want for dinner is a pretty normal exchange and to know the last words to your parents were so mundane and insignificant in the long run is really tragic.

It’s like how in Bleach and Fruits Basket where Orihime and Tohru regret the fact they didn’t wish their significant loved one to “have a nice day” or “be safe” and now regret it because they passed away.
