people really watched a movie about the complexities of intergenerational trauma and met the matriarch, a woman who's had her life destroyed, who had to watch her husband die in front of her, fearing for her and her children's lives, and then became so fearful that she spent the rest of her life holding them so tight and being so strict, but eventually learned that they are safe now and she can move on for the sake of herself and her family, actively choosing to break the unhealthy cycle she'd previously estabilished, and decided to paint her as a selfish, wicked monster who brainwashed her entire family and it's insane

Anway, @moongoddesskiana asked for fics with Jaskier and the Kaer Morons! The brilliant @penandinkprincess recced the first three, all of which are amazing. Then I attempted to filter through my bookmarks and found the rest! Some have more Jaskier and some have more Kaer Morons, but all have at least some of both. There’s a lot of variety, so hopefully everyone can find something they like!

I made these as a way to compile all the geographical vocabulary that I thought was useful and interesting for writers. Some descriptors share categories, and some are simplified, but for the most part everything is in its proper place. What i hate the most about this hc of “Everyone is gay in the madrigal family” are not the headcanons itself but the ways people try to justify things by modifying MY CULTURE. Americans are really getting into fights with Colombians to prove their point by saying: “I investigated and those colors have nothing cultural on it” 🤡🤡🤡 so, you are really explaining a Colombian what their culture is or isn’t because you searched on google? Wtf dude. We live here and you just recently learned that Colombia exists thanks to a movie!
To worse things those people are saying that Isabella is gay because she ends up washed in the lgbti flag after her song, when she’s literally washed in the Colombian flag 🇨🇴 and not recognizing that makes me feel really sad. But those people don’t know anything about my country so they prefer to see other stuff…

Meet Whirligig!! He’s a aerial cadet who recently finished his academy training under Jetfire and Jetstorm.
Whirligig is a bit clumsy in the air, but what he lacks in grace he more than makes up for with his strength and speed. He’s not one for violence, and hopes that his training will land him on a rescue team or maybe a research expedition. While he waits to hear back from his applications, he’s currently working as a,,,mailman. Tailgate says it’s a SAFE and honorable job while Cyclonus just laughs quietly to himself as he watches his behemoth of a son spinning circles in the air trying to catch loose packages he accidentally sneezed out of his compartments.
He’s got his Carrier’s softhearted spark and the same natural born talent with blades as his Sire (though he prefers to stay away from those, someone could get hurt!)
Despite Whirlie having a slightly rocky relationship with his Sire being on and off probation after his amnesty trial, he will always support Cyclonus even if he does have a few big blow ups in therapy. He’s always been more of a momma’s boy anyways. The day he was told he was too big to sit in Tailgate’s lap, he sobbed for only 10 hours.
He’s named after his ‘big lanky weirdo’ of Godsire, Whirl, who always brings him fun trinkets he makes as part of his own therapy process. Whirl Jr. can only keep so many of those same trinkets in her own room so she’s MORE than happy to share the love w Whirlie!
Whirligig’s altmode is smth similar to a Supermarine Spitfire and he’d be voice by Donnie from ROTTMNT!

Am I whitewashed? 🥺🥺 I’m not Colombian enough because my skin color doesn’t fit your Latino stereotype? I’m adopted because if my family is black then I should be it too? It’s called genetics, and diversity. And for those who don’t know, we are a very diverse country since during the colonial period we had a lot of races and nationalities sharing in our territory: Africans, Spaniards, Natives. Creating new races like “criollos”, “mestizos” and “mulatos” and that’s what they tried to represent in the movie, by making aunt Pepa with pale skin.
So stop trying to teach us how people in our country should look. Educate yourself. You are more racist assuming we all should be brown than accepting that Latinos can look in various ways.
And as a Latina I’m really proud of seeing some white Latino representation in international media (if you are going to talk about our own Latino telenovelas please don’t. Latino telenovelas are just for Latinos, don’t have any international relevance most of the time) since everyone around the world thinks we are only brown because of stereotypes! When our territory has afrocolombians, mixed, black, white and everything in between.
Also the movie is focused on a territory similar to the states of “Caldas” or the “Quindio” where most of the people around there are white because of the weather, so changing it was a good creative decision and we got an equal representation for all skin tones! (In fact there is only 3 white characters in the madrigal family and I think that’s enough and perfect)
i just wanna say, after watching Encanto: I don't think the family vilified Bruno while he was still with them; they might have tip-toed around him and maybe the town worried but they still clearly went to him for help. like on the beginning with Mirabel, they didn't treat her particularly badly, they didn't hate her, they just didn't know how to really approach her.
the song We Don't Talk About Bruno isn't what they used to say to Bruno. It's how they talk NOW that they think Bruno left them for good. I don't think they ever hated him but they probably felt hurt and betrayed when he disappeared on them, since they didn't know WHY he did it. and we know they don't hate him because they're all glad to see him at the end of the movie
