obsessed with stories that start out silly and stupid and then turn out to be deep and heartbreaking in their beauty. like okay, make me cry at midnight while i reflect on the true meaning of friendship i guess

been staring at the original costume test for worf (from this post by @holodecks-and-hennins) and i'm fascinated by the changes they made for the actual show. in the tests he looks so much more like the other klingons of early next gen, especially in the long hair, and his beard is also cut different, more natural looking with less sharp lines. I can't tell if it's just a difference in the lighting or if his hair is darker in the final look but either way he's definitely got a little braid with some beads in it there on the left and it feels lighter and looser as well as longer. It seems like they changed part of the ridge makeup around the eyebrows to make him look a bit scowlier for the show which I love - as much as he looks So good in the costume test, the final look tells us a lot more about him through the sharper, darker, more structured shapes. that man is uptight + severe and he looks it!

also seeing him looking like any other next gen Klingon in the test really shows up how different he looks in the show, and I feel like from a character perspective that's got to be on purpose. which is fascinating bc if you accused him of cutting his hair to blend in with humans I can't imagine him ever admitting to it. I can however imagine him having a classic emotional breakdown DIY haircut, maybe when he's still a teenager, that he then has to play off while it grows out and finds that people treat him with just a little less hostility when it looks like he's making an effort to look like them. the way that this clashes with his behaviour in early next gen too is fascinating bc it really is just like Worf to be ashamed and self-conscious of sticking out but then ashamed and self-conscious of taking measures to blend in

leitmotifs never get old to me like holy shit dude there’s this melody that corresponds to this one guy and if you hear the melody it means the guy is there. holy shit. and sometimes it refers to ideas too not just guys. has anyone heard about this

Sometimes something fucked up happens to the guy and their melody gets fucked up too. Sometimes the thing that fucked them up also has its own melody and when the first melody gets fucked up the second melody gets mixed in

no fucking way dude. are you serious

The exception is cheesy local commercials. Those should be the only ads. I will listen to someone who runs a store in my city doing an awkward rap. We once had a furniture store with these awful CGI ads and the slogan "where the deals are so low, it's almost criminal!" and then they got shut down, by the cops, because it turned out. It turned out the deals were so low because. You're not going to believe this but the prices were so low it was in fact
