In the wake of the dual strike I would like to remind everyone that "hollywood elites" is an antisemitic dogwhistle and if you are referring to company executives call them executives
I would further like to add that “cabal” is an antisemitic dogwhistle a pretty decent chunk of the time. You’ll really only see it used in three contexts: people using it as a dogwhistle, people using it not knowing it’s a dogwhistle and thus making it easier to fly under the radar, and, rarely, in a joking way where they not only don’t know it’s a dogwhistle, they’re not even entirely sure how the word is supposed to be used.
It has its origins in the word “Kabbalah,” which is a Jewish learning pathway so closed that even most Jews can’t partake in it. (It’s Jewish mysticism, and at an absolute bare minimum to begin study you should be a Jewish adult extremely well-versed in Torah and Talmud; the stricter Orthodox practice states you must be a learned, male, married Torah scholar over the age of 40.) Because people enjoy shitting on closed practices, goyim were quick to go IT IS SECRET SINISTER WORLD-DOMINATION PLANS, and that is where the word cabal came from.
So: if you mean “monopoly,” as in “The Walt Disney Company has brought almost all modern major audiovisual properties under its control in a monopoly that controls well over 75% of wide-release and streaming media,” please say monopoly.
Scoreboard at Yankee Stadium - July 20, 1969
An estimated 650 million people would watch Neil Armstrong take man’s first step on the moon more than six hours later, but during the actual lunar landing, 32,933 were in the stands at Yankee Stadium on that Sunday afternoon. Ken McMullen was batting against Jack Aker with Epstein on third, a man on first and no outs.
As the umpires, according to prior arrangements, waved their arms and stopped play, an urgent voice came over the loudspeakers: “Here is a bulletin from WWDC News, Apollo 11 is 100 feet from the surface of the moon. We now switch live to the manned spacecraft center.” It was public address announcer Bob Sheppard, sharing the historic news with the crowd.
“Ladies and gentleman, your attention please,” Sheppard said. “You will be happy to know that the Apollo 11 has landed safely on the moon.“
The cheers from the crowd drowned out the final two words of his announcement, but the message displayed on the scoreboard in right-center field was loud and clear: “THEYRE ON THE MOON.”
The cheering at Yankee Stadium continued for about 45 seconds, according to the New York Times, as thousands of children waved the Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Louisville Sluggers they received on bat day.
Finally, the noise died down enough so the announcer could be understood, and he asked the crowd for a moment of silent prayer for the safe return of the astronauts. After a few seconds of silence, a recording of “America the Beautiful” played over the Yankee Stadium loudspeaker. The crowd sang and then cheered some more.
After the roughly four-minute stoppage, McMullen hit a grounder to third baseman Bobby Cox, who threw home to nail Epstein for the first out.
less than 100 notes and someone has tagged this as a character from war and peace. tumblr is the best website on earth
New shipping dynamic:
Your ship is on a road trip to every Rainforest Cafe in the United States. Who is dying inside every time they go to yet another RFC, and who is having the time of their life?
Some people are baffled by the concept that there really are people who actually like children but don't want any of their own. "Childfree" doesn't automatically mean someone who simply hates children. The thing is, I do like kids, and I will absolutely not compromise on my stance that each and every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable and supportive environment. I also know that I get aggressive if I'm constantly sleep-deprived or overstimulated. People generally don't regard me as someone capable of violence, but if I can't get 15 minutes of silence each day and at least 5 hours of sleep every night, I will start throwing things. And I know kids won't let you have that. Ever.
Kids deserve to grow up feeling safe and cherished, unafraid to express themselves and without worry that they're unwelcome or unwanted. And that's why they should be doing that somewhere else than in my fucking house.
dont care + space exploration is cool and good actually + you have no whimsy and dont care about learning more about our limitless beautiful galaxy and what may lie beyond + humans are not inherently negative + shut up

the little side missions in pikmin 3 start with video logs of the tiny cartoon character complaining about living under tiny cartoon capitalism and how his boss sucks and buys unsafe junk equipment and his coworker is an oaf and yknow I'm definitely feeling seen but at what cost
very small deep voice: "eat the rich"
Dragons were probably real
they definitely were my great uncle saw them all the time
When my great grandpa's coworker's wife announced that she was pregnant her husband literally turned into a dragon and flew away forever
This happens a lot. They keep flying into power lines and dying.
They are just so stupid.

is that what your parents told you when you woke up and your pet elf was gone
Only 13 percent of video games are readily playable and accessible. No other form of media is as endangered as video games. There is no legal path to preserve or archive video games. You can go to libraries and archives for books years out of print. You can rent a movie or download a pdf. There is no legal equivalent for video games. Games companies do not double as archival organisations and they never will. They have never been about preserving. They are about selling. Which is not inherently evil compared to anyone else but they along with the law are directly preventing archivers and preservationists from doing their job and allowing this entire medium to be experienced in the future.
Think of some of the most influential video games of all time. How many of them can you play right now. Without piracy. How many of these could your not very technology literate friend play. How do you think this is affecting not only the wider industry now but also people in the future. And for completely arbitrary meaningless reasons.
Phenomenon I feel happens a lot
most of the notes were just like "this is why we should communicate better and just say it" but i feel like this person elaborates a bit on the deeper root of this problem
