this is a blog i made on a whim because i thought it'd be funny. posts once or twice a day on a queue for as long as posts last.

Could ya explain what the harkness test is cause the link talking about what it is doesn't work on mobile?

here, from the page:

The Harkness Test refers to a hypothetical set of guidelines in which it would be permissible to have sexual intercourse with a fictional, non-human creature. The criteria are: “Does this character have human intelligence (or greater)?”, “Can it talk or otherwise communicate with language?”, and “Is it of sexual maturity for its species?” The list is named after Jack Harkness, a character in Doctor Who and Torchwood who displays sexual attraction to species human and non-human alike in the show.

A question if I may. Doesn't Toothless say "Blah, blah, blah" in the second movie?

Also, does body language factor into the Harkness test or does it have to ve specifically vocal language of human nature?

it's arguable whether he actually "says" anything or he's just mimicking human noises he's heard while with the vikings.

body language does factor into the harkness test, but as said in the original description, it is a very dangerous road. sometimes you can tell a creature is intelligent by the way it acts while being unable to use language, but for the sake of the test he fails it due to not being able to use comprehensive language.

however, what i did remember upon being asked this is that- if you consider the rescue riders series canon- all httyd dragons pass the harkness test due to dak and leyla being able to speak coherently to them- dragon language is learnable.

which makes grumblegard officially a gilf.

Renamon (digimon) fails the harkness test as the Japanese name for its evo stage is child

after consulting with some digimon friends of mine, i'm going to put a solid maybe on this one. renamon as a species is a child stage digimon but certain individuals have been framed as adults, and other digimon species of the "child" evolutionary stage are very obviously not children.

in the words of one of my friends,

Digivolving is based on how much energy/strength the individual has at a given moment, and doesn’t reflect age bc the ones who do act like children can still juice up into a fuckin 30 foot tall gundam when they wanna

in english, the "child" stage is referred to as the "rookie" stage, which better represents their low power level than the japanese name does. just like in pokemon, while earlier stages of digimon are commonly younger, that does not mean they always are, and the name of the evolutionary stage is (unfortunately) a misnomer.

renamon can pass the harkness test, but this is dependent on the maturity of the individual.

tread lightly friends.

AGENT P/PERRY THE PLATYPUS from PHINEAS AND FERB passes the harkness test!

submitted by @tha-za

for those who may argue with this, agent p has been showcased speaking exactly three words ("lots of me") in the season 4 episode "night of the living pharmacists" of phineas and ferb. he is also very clearly an adult and extremely intelligent, capable of reading and understanding human speech.
