formerly allison221b. I multi ship, and regular ship. Star Wars, Reylo, Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano is amazing, Bellarke should've been canon and so should Skyeward

some books written by asian authors that you should support because they’re really really good and overshadowed by their white counterparts:

- jade fire and gold 🏳️‍🌈 (the pitch was “what if katara was the dark avatar and zuko was chasing her down?” main sapphics)

- the ones we’re meant to find (i literally don’t know what this is about but the cover is gorgeous)

one last thing, i realize that a lot of these are east asian, so if you have more to add on, please do!

in Empire Strikes Back, it just occurred to me that when Luke and Vader meet for the first time, Vader already knows he’s his son.

he’s thought about this moment, he’s planned it.

and I can imagine him thinking about Luke, and then finally meeting his son for the first time, and not only seeing himself reflected in Luke, but also Padme’s character

like I need to study this

I really liked the Little Mermaid

as someone who saw the original later in life, I didn’t have a deep seated nostalgia for it

so this new one was a breath of fresh air, and I think the added details really made the story better

I know I ain’t been around here much lately, but wanted to share: on Friday, I signed with a literary agent for my scifi horror book and I’m literally trembling with joy, anticipation, and fear as we prepare to take it to publishing houses to see if anyone is interested in it.

If you have any desire to follow along on my original fiction journey, this is a link to my substack (where I promise only important updates).

I finally got a job! I’ll be a cashier again, but I won’t have to sell any credit cards or whatever again

also, I will always get two days off, so that’s a serious plus

Angel’s rock bottom arc in season 2 of his show was so damn good

and his epiphany is really good too, but damn when this show was good, it was so, so good

and no shade to Buffy, but at least on this show, they actually work out a lot of their interpersonal issues

I’m proud of Nate, and how far he’s come

that scene with his dad at the end made me tear up

I’ll say this for Mandalorian season 3, I’m grateful they developed Bo Katan more, and showed more sides to her, and didn’t make her a villain like so many people believed she would be

Saw Guardians 3 today

I cried, tears literally streamed down my face because of everything with Rocket

by the end I was a little more okay with new!Gamora and her different path, but I’m glad she understands more about what originally happened

Peter actually going back to Earth, and seeing his grandfather for the first time in years.

(I wonder if his grandpa had any idea Peter was alive, or hoped he was out in the galaxy somewhere, especially after aliens started invading Earth and showed us we were not alone in the universe)

seeing Drax be celebrated for being playful and kind, like the dad he is, was so sweet

Mantis is always looking out for everyone; it’s time for her to figure out what she wants. I relate to her, because I believed i was stupid for being “too emotional” or “too silly” for a long time. so her speech to Nebula was definitely relatable to me

speaking of, it’s neat seeing Nebula and how far she’s come, and how it’s almost a role reversal with her and Gamora now

perfect end to the Guardians saga

Hey y'all. With the Writer's Guild of America on strike, you might be hearing a lot more about something called "residuals," which are payments that the writers get for the studios continuing to air their work on reruns and such. Already I'm seeing people trying to frame the union trying to bargain for better residuals as greedy and unreasonable, so I just wanted to give you guys a peek into my dad's full, 100% real residual payments for writing some of the most watched episodes of American late night television.

Yeah lol. If u hear anyone trying to frame the conversation around residuals as writers being greedy, please do me a favor and punch them straight in the face ❤️🙃🙃

The last time I saw any real money from residuals in film and TV was in 2008, when I got a substantial cheque from the WGA (who administer residuals and such) for my share as cowriter of the Beowulf film on DVD. And then DVDs were over and done and became a niche market.

These days residuals are... well, something you can take a friend to dinner with. Not something you could pay a monthly mortgage or the rent with.

(And I'm fine. My TV work over the last 5 years has been subsidised by my book and comics work.)

But I just got one even smaller than the one cent residuals...
