something i love about carly rae jepsen - and i love so many things about carly rae jepsen, to be clear - is how she has simply eschewed the concept of the obligatory pop star "eras." ever since call me maybe and kiss, she has more or less delivered exactly the same thing every time she shows up. you know what you're getting with a carly album. she will drop 12-16 tracks of the most euphoric pop music you've ever heard, subtly tweaking her sound to reflect whatever trend everyone else is going to be riding 2-3 years from now, with lyrics that almost make sense but cut straight to your soul and capture the effervescent feeling of having a brand new crush and/or the kind of upbeat horny vibes of someone who has a lot of really good sex but doesn't have to brag about it. she usually looks the same. she usually sounds the same. she will release two albums per "era" because she writes 200+ songs per record. she is FOR the girls and the gays. she is the absolute best pure pop girl we have, but more importantly, she is CONSISTENTLY the best. how lucky we are!
