"Stop that now, you horny simpletons!"

British transphobes have graduated to claiming that bisexual women are tainted by our association with men and thus change the “vibe” of women-only spaces. It’s true, every time I walk into the room, I’m also bringing the spirit of every man who’s been inside my vagina. They live up there like lil ghosts.

This people are genuinely the goofiest dumbest bigots.

Considering the fact that some lesbians have previously had relationships or children with men, this kind of thing is especially gross. Like, this is also punishing some lesbians for having lived through internalized homophobia/lived in very hostile and unsafe environments.

the powers that terfs give men are just insane. they act like being a man makes you a fucking chaos magician bending reality to your whim.

This is literally not changed at all from the 1970s political lesbian shit that birthed TERFery, that’s the fucking wild thing. Like, there have been no advancements in this discussion at all in the past fifty fucking years. They are still saying the exact same shit.

This is part of the reason, by the way, that I’m so adamant that you can’t use anything that comes from that entire swath of transphobic 2nd-wave feminism. You can’t use the term “compulsory heterosexuality” without reckoning with the fact that its coiner thanked Janice Fucking Raymond in the foreword of the writing which established the term. You can’t use definitions of lesbianism which center men or define lesbianism by its exclusion of men without reckoning with the fact that this centering of men comes directly from wanting to exclude trans women.

The only way to stop drinking that tainted water is to drink from another well.

Aye, the idea that this is some “new thing British Transphobes have invented” is like…this view literally predates TERFs. This is just Political Lesbians, y'know, the precursors to TERF bullshit who excluded bi women from the lesbian umbrella in the first place. They haven’t graduated to anything, they’re just feeling emboldened enough to bring out the old hits.

honestly the degree to which I get so much more okay with people saying things in fandom when it’s stated as a preference rather than incontrovertible fact is kind of mind-blowing even to me

per that last post about headcanons it’s like. establishing your first principle that “yes this contradicts canon but I’ve decided to ignore that” is going to make me feel so much less inclined to get bitchy about something that feels like a willful misreading of the text

like, yes! this can be sort of frustrating and feel like you’re diluting yourself but honestly I think it goes a long way sometimes to just acknowledge that you’re having a specific type of conversation/approach rather than posing something as a universal truth presumed to be accepted without question

it’s also so much more refreshing and also important in creating a healthy fandom environment when people don’t pretend they are “fixing” the source material by coming up with reasons why their headcanons are superior to the canon either on a storytelling or a political level. headcanons don’t need to justify their existence by being either canon-compliant or better than canon, there is value in just being fun to the people coming up with them.

Fandom is so different now and it’s becoming un-fun with how quickly shit moves.

I just want to enjoy things. I don’t want to have to play a game of Artist-Race that seems to be afoot lately.

Ya’ll eat up fandoms, leave artists and writers bone dry and then move on so fucking quickly then fucking wonder where all the Good Fandom Stuff is.

Idk Maybe cherish some things for longer. Reblog stuff. Interact with people. Comment and share.

Fandom is Capitalism now and I’m not being nuanced.

last BS i heard over discourse on Twitter was, and I kid you not, "blocking is harassment" and "chainblocking is racist and harassment".

The logic beyond the latter is that like tends to follow and interact with like (reasonable; that's why "black twitter" or "white twitter" or "book twitter" are things) and thus chainblocking one person which will in turn block the people who liked their comment/followers/etc will result in disproportionately blocking members of one community (here: demographic). which, okay, reasonable assumption.

except THEN the rest of the reasoning takes a turn for the absurd: which means that community is disproportionately being silenced. And blocking a member of that minority was racist, because of that silencing.

Again we are talking about someone curating their timeline by blocking.

So here we have some arguing that attention is in fact owed to them.

Which is so ludicrously entitled I'm wondering if these aren't plants or trolls or something.

But EVEN if that were true - even if - "blocking someone you don't know and have never interacted with on Twitter" doesn't fit any definition of harassment. Someone being ~unfair~ at you and refusing you their presence online isn't harassment. No-one is entitled to that.

No need for plants when users are brainwashed.

Welcome twitter users fleeing the absolute cesspool that twitter is going to become as Musk gets his way with his awful ideas! Things are better here, and hey, if you're an old user coming back, they've actually improved shit!

Here's a list of important notes for tumblr usage:

  • Don't censor words, particularly trigger warnings. Tumblr has a very functional blacklist (found in your settings) that can filter by post content and/or tags. But the word needs to actually be present for the filter to work. Censoring words like r*pe is actively harmful to people attempting to avoid those topics.
  • Use tags liberally, you have as many as you want, but don't tag unrelated shit. You'll get reported for spam really fast if you do.
  • Set an avatar and reblog things, otherwise you look like a bot.
  • You are not obligated to have your real name anywhere in your blog/bio/etc. Most people here use handles.
  • You can turn your ask box & anons on or off if you are experiencing any kind of harassment. You can also turn off replies on your posts, and turn off reblogs if you need to.
  • Tumblr has keyboard shortcuts on desktop. You can find them listed under the blog/account menu. Go learn them, they make life so much easier.
  • Reblog things. Seriously. Also set your dash in chronological order. You can maintain several blogs if need be, but reblogging things is normal, expected, and how you pass along stuff you enjoy.
  • The majority of people aren't reading your card/dni/blog bio before they reblog stuff. Posts get passed around and the OP often isn't the focal point of the post. Learn to live with it.
  • Fic writers: you have unlimited words, do not post fics as images.
  • Reblogs with comments/tags are encouraged. It's not like twitter's QRTs. The OP will see everything there. Know that before you comment.
  • You have a queue. This means you can set posts up ahead of time to run while you're busy. You can also completely ignore this and just spam your follows whenever you're online. Both are very commonplace
  • It's not weird to go through someone's blog and reblog old posts. That's actually very normal. If you add /chrono to the end of a tumblr page then you can view all the posts in chronological order to make this easier.
  • "Spam" liking and reblogging isn't a thing that is a problem. This is invented by people I do not understand. If someone claims this is a problem, they can learn how to turn off or manage their notifications.
  • The only form of promotional posts that tumblr has is "blaze". There is no ad targeting or any kind of invasions of privacy with blaze. You just get subjected to w/e someone wants to show you. If you want to give tumblr some money to help the company keep going and providing an alternative to twitter, it's not a bad way to do it. You can make people look at cat photos.
  • Also, we have fun colors here. Plus actual formatting ability. Use it!
  • People lie on here for fun. Don't accept everything you see at face value, check the reblogs/replies or google something if you're skeptical! Critical thinking is good!
  • Above all else, be chill, use your block button if you need to, and have fun.

it’s always “your redemption is something you have to work towards for the rest of your life” and never “how was the unhinged spiral into evil? the unhinged spiral into evil looked fun”

it is absolutely anti-intellectualism to speak with authority on something you blatantly do not understand while simultaneously refusing to learn any more about it. that’s like a hallmark of anti-intellectualism. it doesn’t matter if you’re talking about horror or climate change lmao it’s a fox news ass approach to discussing ANYTHING

as an animal you have been gifted the ability to be momentarily but greatly affected by something and then stop caring immediately after. other human functions can get in the way of this but never forget that many times you can just say “Okay” and amble off
