In honor of Steve’s birthday, let me tell you about the Irwins

I grew up watching the show and was very sad when I heard about Steve’s accident. I was six years old and had watched his show religiously.

But but almost twelve years later, I still see him everywhere.

Bindi was eight when he died, but she picked up his show even while she was still grieving. They didn’t cancel it, it was too important. So they stuck a third grader in front of the camera and she handled it.

Robert was barely potty trained, but old enough to know. Now he’s a regular guest with Jimmy Fallon and as handsome as his father. He loves animals, even though they took his dad from him.

Steve Irwin was an incredible father who has amazing, strong kids. Terri is a strong mother and stayed kind.

Not only was the performance done on 20 minutes notice, she had no rehearsal and simply heard Pavarotti’s rehearsal once on a goddamn tape player and just listened, nodded and said she could do it. the most famous opera song in the world, on one of the biggest nights for music in the world, no rehearsal, and she just went out and did it.
