While every force available in the world is searching for the 5 people in the oceangate submersible, a boat filled with mostly Syrian and Pakistani refugees sank under still “unknown” circumstances off the coast of Peloponnisos, Greece (with the coast guard present). More than 600 people drowned but guess which of the two is making headlines

Now it’s something big.

Big enough that it made me log in to this long-unused account.

For the first time in 27 years of Pokemon history, Daisy Oak (aka Blue/Gary’s older sister), a character who has been with us since the beginning, got a TCG artwork. Illustrated by Tomomi Kaneko, it’s part of the most recent “Pokemon Card 151″ expansion - a TCG set that celebrates the first generation of Pokemon, with each one of the original 151 getting its own card (including the long-unseen Kadabra). What a perfect opportunity to give Daisy her long deserved artwork! It remains to be seen whether a Full-Art Secret Rare version of this card exists as well. It is the first official artwork of Daisy since 1996, when she was featured on a New Year postcard illustrated by Ken Sugimori (one of the most elusive artworks in existence and one of the first Pokemon arts in general). It is also the first ever artwork of her current game design, which originates from FR/LG. Before now, we only had the overworld (FRLG and HGSS) sprites and the Fame Checker sprite from FRLG. She didn’t appear in LGPE (so there’s no 3D model for her - maybe Masters could change that?) and was omitted from Origins (now I can forgive that…) and the designs found in her various manga appearances differ greatly. So, this definitely does her justice but I am waiting for more!
