These are two patterns from Wild Violet Cross Stitch that I made a little over a year ago! These were the second and third projects I ever made. They were so much fun and so fast to make (although the black on navy blue was a pain)!
Dark fabric makes things look so good though. They're great.
Silhouette stitched by artfulvince. Pattern from the Antique Pattern Library.
“I saw someone stitch a similar silhouette pattern with variegated thread a while ago, so I finally tried it myself. Pattern (with some modifications) from Antique Pattern Library.”

It was very hard to choose a favorite but this one I made for a dear friend who loves foxes! I added the pinwheels to the pattern as my first non-X embroidery stitching and I’m quite proud of them! I love these kinds of patterns with lots of blends and I’ll put up with doing complicated backstitch for the beautiful effect.
It's very cute. The flowers really make it pop.
Finally finished the other pocket of my denim jacket! The parrot flower came from an illustration from a book from 1871 called “Nonsense Botany” that served as a whimsical embroidery idea book for children and adults.
Found 4 last (mis)prints of the ufo design, so I stitched up another one for either a wall hanging or another patch. The light beams are fun for back stitching!
I redid the art for this design a little bit ago to make it bigger for the glow-in-the-dark sticker version and I also wanted to re-stock the embroidery design with a full color variation. The original hand print above was for 4-inch hoops, but I'm thinking of making the new one for a 6-inch hoop. Do you have a preference size-wise when stitching?
[ID: A very closeup snap shot of a embroidery art piece featuring a small silver ufo lifting up a silver and spotted cow on a black fabric background and surrounded by a moon and stars in matching silver. The light beam coming down from the bottom of the ship and surrounding the cow in a loose cone shape is completely filled in with vertical lines of embroidery thread that shifts across throughout the back stitching from light yellow to bright yellow to a bright green-yellow. The stitching continues where there are lights in the ship with little colonial knots along the disc's side. End.]
Listen I am not going to name anyone specifically, but pattern makers need to talk to one (1) fat person before they can post their patterns online.
I am so sick of finding a cute pattern, getting all the supplies, checking my gage, and starting to knit, only to find that my sleeves are a foot longer than a normal human because the pattern maker just multiplied all their numbers by 10 when they sized it up. I can't believe I have to say this but, just because my ass is fat does not mean my arms go down to my knees???
If you are a fat knitter, please check out Lydia Morrow on Ravelry!
Her design focus first and foremost on the fit and comfort of plus size people, most offering optional bust AND hip shaping. She’s a neuro divergent and disabled creator and really relies on the sales of her patterns, which very generously offer a sliding pay scale for people who can’t afford the full price. Her pattern sales have dipped these last few months which is a terrible shame because she is doing so much great work to make accessible patterns for all.

Well, the Library of Congress will only let you zoom in so much...

...but I'm pretty sure they're using Minerva yarn based on the stripes along both edges of the ball band and the figure in the circle for the brand logo:
(this is an ad from 1919 btw)
Buttonhole stitch is my new favourite! Embroidering for 10 years and I’ve only just tried it. Are there any stitches you’ve avoided then tried and loved? by niamhylil
So this cross stitch of a hand xray is what I've been working on in between episodes of quantum leap and enterprise for the last 3 months and now it's kind of fitting that today im finally finished with it and I have one episode left of each show 🥲 it's been real fun... On to the next!

Maryland Blue Crab stitched by Julie Lindstrom. Pattern designed by Ardith Designs.
“It’s a finish! Maryland Blue Crab by Ardith Designs I stitched it on a mystery fabric, with a waterlilies silk thread.”
Crab!
You will all be overjoyed to know that this was apparently a commercial pattern… in like 1993. If you can find the out of print booklet, this glorious specimen of fashion can be yours.

Cross stitched amiibo figure!
My sibling made me amiibo nfc stickers so I was drawing my own cards, but for 8bit Link I thought why not do a cross stitch!
How I made it: the original pixel art would have been easy enough but I edited my own pattern of link based on the first game to have more than 3 colors and with the triforce on the shield using a long half stitch. After finishing my stitches I cut out both sides with a one square border I didn’t stitch into yet (this will be the gold boarder), I stuck on the nfc stitcker to the back of the front piece, held the back and front stitched pieces in place, and did a blanket stitch around the edge and then a modified cross stitch which I was able to make wrap around the piece by using the blanket stitch as a stabilizer. It works great and it’s my new favorite cross stitch piece!

This Spirograph backstitch with rainbow thread.
I’ve done bigger and more complex things, but this one is my favorite to look at.
Creative and fun. It's hard to pick a favorite part of this.
I am almost crying - seeing all this creativity and beautiful art makes me smad - sad that I cannot do any creative things right now and super fucking mad at my brain for not letting me do the creative things.
I am working on it and just found a few things I did do (about 20 years ago so I have no idea who to credit the patterns to - they were from books I checked out from the library)
I understand, I really do. I haven't stitched in a long time because of depression over a family issue/adhd/2 jobs. But it's ok. I will get to stitch again one day, hopefully soon. In the mean time I will look at other peoples work.
The roses on that piece are beautiful.
insane how many people just have these incredible artists in their families who get no recognition outside of crocheting circles because this art form is devalued for its association with women
in my country, the word for crocheting, is used metaphorically, to compliment a surgeon’s work.
every AFAB person my mother’s age and older, had practiced this craft at one point on another.
My mom has made literal paintings, that decorate our house for years (I’ll come back with pictures when I visit next) you can only see that they are crocheting when you go very close.
as promised here’s my mom’s crocheting “paintings”
There is another one but it had been stored many years ago, (i remember it from my childhood) and sadly it is probably damaged by mold, it depicted wild horsed running in nature
