⭐What To Do When You Can't Regress 🦕
Someday's it's hard to feel small. Or some weeks..and even some months. This is nothing to feel ashamed of, of course. It's normal to have periods where no matter what you do it feel like you can't be small. I hope that this post can help you, even if just a bit.
🍒Take it slow. Nothing was ever and will ever be solved by panicking, stressing, and rushing yourself when you aren't ready yet. Sometimes a break can be a good thing, so that when you get back into it you feel ready and refreshed.
🍒The next time you have a day off, set aside as much time as you can for: Hanging out with a cg, sibby, little friend, or anyone you trust in your regressed state. Even being alone is fine. What are some things little you loves? Spend the day trying to focus on those things (but don't push it if you can't)
🍒Going to a favorite little spot. Maybe this is the park, buildabear, a toy shop, or a restaurant with really good Mac and cheese. Spend time there and try to let any negative thoughts go. If you don't feel regressed? Try faking it and pretending you do. Sometimes this can trick yourself into eventually feeling smaller for real.
🍒The little things count! (See what I did there? Lol) So don't be afraid to treat yourself with something new, even if it's small. Going to the dollar tree for a new bubble blower, or bath toy. Playing pretend (like you're a princess/prince going to the great stuffie ball, or a tea party or dance party. You're a fish in your bubble bath!) Getting some chalk and drawing your favorite stuffie out on the sidewalk (don't forget to show them your work!) Even if you don't feel like it, that small thing could make a difference.
🍒Making your room feel smaller. Recently I got new bedsheets, they have unicorns and rainbows on them. I feel much smaller in these sheets, and they have so many other kinds. Even just a small blanket, a poster, sticking your finished coloring sheets on the walls, or a corner of the room dedicated to your stuffies and play things.
🍒Don't neglect yourself. Make sure to set up chores and things you need to do for yourself if you don't have a cg to do this for you. A clean room can help to make a cleaner mind, as silly as it may sound. Your room is your safe space, so treat it like one and pick up. Don't forget to clean your teeth, your face and body. And of course, make yourself a nourishing meal you love with lots of water. A reset to your area might be what you need.
🍒Check to make sure you're taking your meds and getting all your vitamins. Did you know vitamin deficiencies can cause you to feel sad and tired all the time? I found out when going to the doctor I was feeling icky and upset because I had a bad vitamin D deficiency. And now I feel better! Consider a multivitamin, (yes you can take the kids ones!) and spending extra time in the sun (with sunscreen, of course!)
🍒Do things you think are fun and exciting! It's tempting to lay around all day and scroll through social media, but this can be bad for you if you overdo it! Take some time away from the tech and think. What is stopping you from doing what you reallllyyy wish you could be doing right now? Chances are, there is at least one thing that interests you that you could be doing. Don't drag yourself away from your interests if you're feeling bad. I've been there, and it doesn't help you feel any better. I know I said not to force things earlier, but a tiny tiny push into something you like is different.
Over all, don't do anything you aren't truly ready for. But definitely take necessary steps that you know will help. Take care of big you first, and little you is sure to pop back out for some fun.
