Whose familiar is this? or has someone “warg"ed into this crow? I thought we already agreed to use emails

“Temporary”? WTF. I hope this was only temporary because the crow was like, “my work is done here” and not that some dickhead was like NO CROWS ALLOWED.

So I read the article and it’s actually a bit emotional. It’s basically the bird version of Homeward Bound.

The crow was a rescued bird raised and taken care of by a family who loved him very much. He was “free” in that they didn’t keep him inside, but he was very much habituated to the family/their home and would come up to them and chat with them and knock on their windows in the morning saying “Mom wake up”.

He apparently liked to tease people who were afraid of him, and one day when the family were away for the holidays a neighbor caught him and sent him to an animal sanctuary. The sanctuary released him out into the wild and the crow, Cosmo, tried to find his way home.

He followed cars he thought belonged to his family, would sit outside of buildings calling out for them/talking to people, and made it to the elementary school because he recognized someone inside. He used to play with children at his family’s farm and so he enjoyed playing with the children at the school.

Meanwhile, his family WAS looking for him, putting up his picture and trying to track him down.

Eventually they were alerted to the talking crow at the school and successfully reunited with him and brought him back to their farm. Apparently Cosmo has not gone back to the neighbors’ place ever since.

I’m a bit emotional about it. This crow really loved this family, and they really loved him.

acts of service bitches when someone doesn't Need Something from them but wants them around anyways and they have to think about the fact that they could possibly be wanted for who they Are rather than what they can Do

everyone who rbed this you all deserve someone who will grab your little face and say to you "on purpose! i am going to care about you on purpose!"

Plastic surgeons hate her! Woman thinks her face looks fine like it is and appreciates her natural features and the balance and character they bring to her face

Having an abusive parent is kinda funny in retrospect like mommy why do you have beef with me im 4 i love you

Well you see the thing is that child abuse is inherently irrational

this is the men's vs women's outfits for the same 100m USATF competition. the men are wearing tight tank tops and shorts to the knee, the women are wearing pretty much bras and underwear. don't tell me this is about being aerodynamic. it's about sexualizing women. can you imagine if the men were wearing the women's outfits? they'd look stupid because we're so used to seeing women practically naked.

b-iibs-deactivated20210702

same sport. same year. same competition. look at the outfits.

tell me it's for moving easier.

same sport. same year. same competition. (also the women's one is also practically underwear with a see-through skirt that goes up all the time when skating)

If it really had advantages in performance male athletes would be fucking STRIPPING THESELVES!!!!! I want this unfair practice to stop

Some may not consider it a sport, but as someone who has been involved in the world of Competitive Irish dance for the last decade, it absolutely is- the training and athleticism needed is beyond intense, and the young people involved dedicate almost every hour they aren't in school to stretch/workout, classes, practices, performances, competitions.

One thing that's always irked me, especially because the youngest age categories in Irish dance accept kids as little as 4 years old, is the difference between how boys and girls, and men and women are required to dress in order to participate -

Here's a list of what women are required to do in order to not lose points for clothing/appearance at competition

  • Wear large, heavy bun wigs, often pinned to their heads so tightly with multiple bobby pins and clips that girls will lose hair and develop headaches and semi permanent bald spots.
  • Gel/hairspray back and dye any visible hair in their natural hair color
  • Wear concealer, foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and lipstick, which must be kept neat even in hot rooms and while participating in strenuous physical activity
  • Wear dresses which often cost in the range of $1000, but can be more than $2500, and if they are lucky, end at the mid thigh, but are often cut at the upper thigh
  • Spray tan, professionally tan, or bottle tan their legs multiple shades darker than their skin in order to emphasize their legs
  • Accessorize with things like tiaras, hair clips, and earrings
  • Smile, even when they are preforming strenuous physical feats

Here's a list of what men are required to do in order to not lose points for clothing/appearance at competition

  • Wear competition pants/dress pants in a material with give (typically required to be black, but this may vary based on competition)
  • Wear a dress style shirt (typically in black or white)
  • Wear a custom dance vest or blazer with embellishments, which I've seen for as little as $150, but typically fall around $300, and can even be customized from traditional vests
  • Brush their hair, possibly use a small amount of gel if it is long

Do these things seem anywhere near equal? In time, pain, effort, cost, how much it inhibits your ability to actually dance? How comfortable you are while competing?

No

But of course, people will constantly justify every additional step women are asked to take. The girls are asked to smile because they aren't just dancing, they are preforming (Are the boys not?). They wear makeup because the stage lights wash them out, and so blush, mascara, and lipstick are necessary in order to see their features (But the boys features being seen is not relevant). They wear short dresses so the judges can see the muscles moving in their legs (A factor which apparently becomes unnecessary when the boys are preforming, as their legs are fully covered). They tan to emphasize the leg muscles, and so their legs stand out against the stage better (the boys are allowed to simply wear dark pants). They wear wigs because the movement of the curls emphasizes the jumps (The boys jumps need no additional emphasis). On and on and on.

Clearly from both the description and the photos you can tell that an aspect of the clothing is rooted in tradition, and in looking formal for the sake of performance, but the extent that girls are pushed to is simply for the sake of pageantry, often at a detriment to their comfort while preforming.

And for any who may try to claim this is simply a part of the tradition and culture, not an argument I like to begin with, here are some more traditional-leaning Irish Dance Costumes (1950's-70's), which are, surprisingly for the time, closer to the same for boys and girls/men and women than the ones made in 2022

dont forget (american) football!

one sex wears barely anything at all and the other sex wears clothes.

the actual act of rebellion against our increasingly conservative culture to be like yeah im a woman yes i dont wear makeup yes i dont shave my body hair nor wax my face yes i dont bother with my hair for ten hours yes i dont lose sleep over a feminine performance yes my clothes are comfortable and utilitarian yes im happy and love freely

no im not a man for any of the above.

gods-girdle

So women are literally only their wombs? Cool, stop being mad that you and conservatives agree on everything.

way to parse through my blog for something to be mad at after i liked a mutuals reblogs roasting your ass just to be so goddamn wrong about what this post says

gods-girdle

Roasting? Oh, you must be a child. Hope you get some rights in your country soon!

it literally says my age in my bio so you're comeback is worthless, but sure. love that you resorted to commenting on the usage of one word bc you have no argument about how you completely misinterpreted the og post and don't want to bring attention to it. hope you gain reading comprehension soon!

Ah yes, because if women are not makeup, shaving, waxing, high-maintenance hair, feminine performance, and uncomfortable clothes than clearly all that is left is a womb. It is totally reasonable and progressive to equate being a women with conforming to stereotypes and being female with being a walking womb! /s

For everyone complaining about how these two can get arrested and it won’t affect their careers, you’re right. It most likely won’t hurt their careers. That’s why they keep going out and doing it. They’re using their platform to their advantage. They’re both white, of an older generation, and famous enough to be recognized. They’re holding their generation accountable and making an effort to show up and enforce change. This isn’t them advertising a TV show or some bs, they’re there to help

This is a very good way to use your privilege.

Jane Fonda has been involved in protest since the America Vietnam war

Jane Fonda’s activism did, in fact, hurt her career, and she’s out there risking it all again. She wasn’t just involved in protest since the Vietnam war (tho that is what did her career the most damage, some lawmakers were actually calling for her to be tried for treason over it)

She was already under government surveillance before that for her support of the Black Panthers and her show of solidarity with two separate first nations re-occupations (Fort Lawton and Alcatraz).

She’s not being silly or doing a bit or pulling a PR stunt. She’s just not letting the cops scare her. Because this is far from her first rodeo.

Jane Fonda’s mugshot from Nov. 3, 1970.

She was arrested on trumped-up drug smuggling charges, which an officer later admitted was their only way of booking her because god damn Nixon wanted her arrested for her anti-Vietnam War activism. The FBI and the CIA, and the NSA had been surveilling her for months without her knowledge.

If there is any celebrity whose activism is not empty lip service, it’s Jane fucking Fonda.

My ex fiancé hated her because his father hated her for her activism during Vietnam

Reblog to show respect for someone who used her privileges for others. Or just reblog to piss off my ex
