Watching Kat Graham videos on YouTube and it makes so happy to see people finally discussing how terrible Kat and her character were treated on TVD. Julie Plec and Caroline Dries are horrible racists and couldn't stand the fact Bonnie AND Kat were so loved by the cast but also the fans. Kat dealt with such microaggressions from both those wretched women. Constantly killing Bonnie off, mistreating her, wanting to fire Kat(would've happened if not for Ian and also fans) They couldn't stand to see such a beautiful black woman in the spotlight and it shows. Their looks alone when Kat was talking*literally any time just shows the racism and misogynair Kat constantly dealt with. It's so validating to see so many people talking about what black fans of TVD have said for years. Kat Graham literally hates her character, doesn't want to talk about her time on the show because of how terrible her time on there was. Even the fact that Julie Plec opened her mouth to speak out on racism going on in these times is so hypocritically laughable to me. She has no self awareness at all. You can watch the videos on YouTube for yourself and see all the mistreatment Kat endured from both those women, the way they(Julie and Caroline) absolutely froth at the mouth anytime Kat dared to voice her opinions is just disgusting. Bonnie Bennett deserved better. Kat Graham deserved better. Bonnie Bennett carried that show period. And was a fan favorite despite all that racist bullshit Julie and Caroline pulled. Its honestly so gross it took this long for people to be mainstream talking about it but at least they're now talking about it.

Acknowledge bonnies pain

Acknowledging bonnies' pain breaks the illusion of the white supremacist fantasy world where black people serve them, willingly suffer for them, and adhere to racial hierarchies. They know that since the dawn of the oppression we have fought and will continue to fight for our freedom and human rights.

They wrote her in a way that would villainize her off the bat so people would hate her. Her defiance was seen as a threat, as bonnie complained and they tried to silence her.

we loved her

we love her

we see her

we see you bonnie

bonnie’s story arc in the entire series just irks me. like damn, we know you hate her, plec and dries, but at least try to be professional and work the offscreen drama elsewhere instead of killing her off every other episode. the way everyone only calls her when they need her help with magic just feels bad, and not only that she gets cheated on, gets her boyfriend’s heart ripped out in front of her, has her entire immediate family die, and still she has to swoop in to save the day at every inconvenient turn for the white characters. DAMON, fucking DAMON out of everyone got a happy ending with elena and he’s a fucking serial murderer, bonnie’s then subjected to “travelling the world?” in the interviews, every time kat brings up bamon the writers are clearly repulsed at the idea of their precious do no wrong white male lead getting together with a black character. her little funeral in season 5 pisses me off so much, and everything else after that. i wish we could’ve gotten to delve more into her relationships and her character instead of generally just her saving the day, but i guess plec & dries’ racist asses can’t do that. don’t even fucking get me started on legacies — in the musical, the only line she gets is “you can think about bonnie, she’s such a great friend.” her character wasn’t even INCLUDED because they thought she wasn’t important?! if bonnie hadn’t existed, all your favs’ asses would’ve crumbled to dust by now, plec, so the least you could’ve done was give her a fucking part there

I honestly dont get the argument of "not everything has to be gay" because like?? not everything has to be straight/cishet either??? obviously you'd like straight stuff more because you're straight? I'm gay, I like gay stuff. Trans people like trans content. Asexuals like asexual content. It's that simple. It's not our fault the majority of show runners and writers are either painfully straight white men/women or homophobic??? not to mention the only shows wlw ever get always get canceled without a reason. gay shows or shows with lgbtq+ representation get shitted on or fetishized, we constantly get queerbaited and some of the only well-written love interests always seem to be the gay romance option that's not even canon. then the moment we have a headcanon or have fun with a ship that we like they have a problem with people shipping two "obviously straight/taken characters", when they would never keep the same energy with other noncanon cishet ships. they only have a problem when the ship is gay. how does people having fun and shipping fictional characters unproblematically harm you in any way??? then they say they're not homophobic or that we always call people who disagree with them homophobic. maybe if so many people are calling you homophobic, that's a sign..??
