shoutout to all the fellow lonely people whether you love someone you can’t have or just don’t like anyone at the moment or have had your heartbroken or are going through a friendless time or don’t know what you want yet, etc. hope you feel a little less lonely knowing other people feel that too.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this life of dive bars and bottle service and shitty weekend trips and fancy hotels, it’s happiness is completely and totally all about the people you’re with.
“She was not an easy or untroubled person, and as she grew older her troubles grew with her, but she had an enormous artistic imagination and soul. She also could break your heart and then provoke your temper beyond any reasonable level of endurance.”

Kay Redfield Jamison, from “An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness,

“Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as weaklings or damaged goods. To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of the truly alive and compassionate. It is not the empath who is broken, it is society that has become dysfunctional and emotionally disabled. There is no shame in expressing your authentic feelings. Those who are at times described as being a ‘hot mess’ or having ‘too many issues’ are the very fabric of what keeps the dream alive for a more caring, humane world. Never be ashamed to let your tears shine a light in this world.”

Don’t live for the weekends. Don’t write off things you’re unsure of. Don’t mistake comfort for love. Don’t mistake attention for love. And most importantly, don’t believe anyone who says they don’t have time to see you, because there’s no such thing as being too busy for something you care about.
