oh god ok uh

so my main headcanon is that he's gay, because 1) I think more characters should be gay (especially in this series that didn't even mention the possibility until like halfway through book 3 lmao), 2) makes the curse that much worse since it specifies a human woman, and 3) once I looked at him from that angle everything made way too much sense.

he's the type who'd have been a traveling minstrel in another life. he writes dirty poetry with his fellow warriors, if you get my meaning. he's, shall we say, out of practice with women. you know?

I have a lot of thoughts about his family dynamics with that in mind. nobody wanted him to be the heir, least of all him. It Is Known that his dad sucked, of course, but it wasn't just his dad. also I named his parents (fergus and fenella) and brothers (roderick and torcall) bc you can only mention unnamed characters so many times before you need to call them something, yknow.

he had a crush on rhysand back in the day and that went really so incredibly badly in so many ways. rip

he did genuinely care about feyre, though he felt horrible about having to involve her in the curse and not loving her the way she thought he did/the way he thought he should, and that also went really badly. rip again

miscellaneous, some of which I've explored in fic and some of which are hard to put into words: a couple thoughts about what shapeshifting is like, the bogge fight which I was so mad wasn't on the page in the actual book, the general concept of his weirdass friendship with lucien which I rotate in my mind often, he's honestly better with people than he thinks he is but he's just So Tired Always, he has very faint scars in the outline of a mask after it finally comes off, and probably other stuff I'm forgetting to mention
