Does anyone else think about how Russian Worf is? I mean this joke, it’s just so Russian, isn’t it? A lot of his interactions with his crewmates are dismissed as being weird and Klingon but we know Klingons don’t really get his humour either, so he’s actually being weird and Russian. It’s something I’m realising now that I’m getting to know real life Russians/Eastern Europeans and not relying on bad villains.

For a brief moment in time the desert and ocean met at the shoreline. Together they made desert lakes and steadfast islands, and all that came across the union felt its abundance. However, the ocean could not last forever and the eternal desert soon found that its companion was receding. As the last drops of water dried upon the desert floor, a deep valley remained that the desert’s winds never managed to fill up with sand again.

emotion-wise, he was a desert, barren and desolate, dry and sometimes blinding, fully stoic and still, sandstorms settling as soon as they appear

sentiment-wise, she was an ocean, roaring and full of life with waves that crash and foam and waltz with storms but settle down at sunset

yet, it is unwise to believe a desert is void of emotion. no, a desert simply feels too deeply and too much that it needs to control the sandstorms that roar much like an ocean, for if they are left to themselves, they pave the road to insanity.

it is also illogical to believe that an ocean is weak in its sentiment, for its road to madness comes in the absence of storms. an ocean thrives when its waves peacefully caress the shores of the desert, and after it finishes its stormy rage, it calms down and embraces wisdom, much like a desert.

neither are weak or inferior in their choice to express or not express emotion. they are two sides of the same coin, opposite yet so similar. and between what is needed to survive and what is destructive is a sweet spot, a sweet spot that they cherish daily, that grows bigger every day, as the desert learns to love the storms of the ocean & as the ocean learns to love the calm of the desert.

Every now and then I like to log on to tumblr and look at the notes of some of my old posts. This is so beautiful and such a joy to read. Keep putting beautiful things into world.
