I got this right as I posted the last one, which had two Three Houses hot takes lol. I’ll give another one since you asked specifically about Three Houses though and I have a lot to complain about that game.

The way this game handles “replay value” with the alternate routes is abhorrent and makes me not want to play it at all. Since each route features a drastically different story, but only after the first half of the game, it’s so unappealing to even go through one route because you know there are two more you really should play to get the full story. Even worse that there’s actually a FOURTH route.

You would think it’s at least better than Fates because Fates made you buy three versions of the game while Three Houses has it all on one cartridge. Well buying the three Fates games is $20 more than Three Houses which isn’t great, but at least the game handles the different routes better by only making the first five chapters the same, which are all really short maps. And if you’re playing Special Edition it lets you skip the first five chapters if you already played them to go directly into another route.

It’s also hard to even want to stick with one of the houses because none of the leaders are appealing.

I have too many about this franchise because Fire Emblem fans can’t agree on anything and we all hate each other, so… under the cut.

Fans care way too much about trying to prop up their favorite game as having the best story in all of Fire Emblem and shitting on every other game’s story when Fire Emblem has always been more character-driven rather than story-driven. It was really liberating when I finally realized this (hence why I’m finally playing Fates now after not wanting to play it for years because “Ooooo story bad”). It’s also why, as a fan of Gaiden, it annoys me how other Gaiden fans love to shit on Shadows of Valentia and act like the game has a worse story than the original when, even if it did, it absolutely made the characters better except maybe Alm (gay Leon I love you).
