While I’m on the subject of yelling about the Jedi Order, this issue has a great scene where the young Wookiee Krrsish has been struggling with thoughts of his Trandoshan friend because of the long history of conflict between their species and he’s been getting meaner about it over time, so when he says something mean to Gheyr about it, Yoda asks him to stay after class. The first thing Yoda says is how much progress he’s been making, a compliment to show that he’s still valued and wanted here.  Yoda talks to him about the anger and fear he senses in Krrsish, telling him that it was the Wookiees who found Gheyr and delivered her to Yoda to take to the Jedi Temple, that Krrsish doesn’t have to be friends with her if he doesn’t want to, but he does need to respect her as a Jedi. He senses fear and anger in Krrsish and reminds him where those lead–because it is absolutely 100% true, fear and anger are the dark side, that’s George Lucas worldbuilding 101–but never shames him for having those feelings, for struggling with them. Instead, Yoda leaves the decision of how to proceed in Krrsish’s hands, you don’t have to be friends, you just have to respect each other, is the only thing Yoda puts down as a boundary, and it’s Krrsish’s choice to approach his friend and apologize and hug her, while Yoda’s thoughts about how they must respect the paths their children choose, they can’t force them into things they’re not meant for, or they’ll never truly be able to grow up, they’ll be children forever. And like this is the Jedi Order!!  There’s no shaming for what you’re feeling, it’s all about teaching you what those things mean and giving you guidance and answering your questions and then letting you choose what you want to do about it!  Approaching a situation with compassion and kindness, not empty lectures, but a moment of care! Yes, the Jedi have certain rules, because the worldbuilding demands it of them, but everything about Yoda’s handling of this situation is showing the Jedi ways of compassion and being kind and caring about/respecting others, without saying anyone is “bad” here.  THIS is who the Jedi are!

I like this. I only ever hear the stuff about how the Jesi order became so fearful of the Dark Side and emotions that they just stunted their emotions and didn’t offer help to those who needed it (*coughAnakincough*). And no doubt some did have that problem. But this is a nice look at how some in the Jedi Order were doing it RIGHT.

one of those time travel AUs where Vader goes back into his body as Anakin before he fell to the dark side and fixes everything. Palpatine is dead, the Jedi are alive, and everyone's happy. He never found out who Luke's twin sister was, but that's fine because this time around he'll get to know both of them from birth. The twins are born and Padmé says she wants to name their daughter Leia! :) And Anakin thinks, Hmm. Looking back I can see that Princess Leia was a good person, and we were only enemies because I went and became a Sith. Okay we can name our daughter Leia :)

Years pass and Leia starts growing older. The Organas adopt a completely different girl. Anakin's looking at his daughter like no, it can't be. No way. Do NOT tell me that Princess Leia was Luke's twin all along, but time keeps passing and it becomes increasingly apparent that this is indeed the case, and now he's having a Crisis

apparently I'm physically incapable of posting an au and then not drawing something for it

happy earth day. don’t forget that someone else’s outdoor cat is your indoor cat

A few years ago I picked up a cat at an apartment across town because tenants said the owner had threatened to shoot her. They’d been feeding this cat for five or six months. She’d just shown up one day, friendly as can be, and never left. I asked if anybody had tried finding an owner - they said no, but that she did have a collar on when she first showed up. They just assumed she was some outdoor cat or abandoned. The first thing I did the next morning was take her to the shelter to scan for a microchip, which she had. Her owner was so happy when we contacted her. Her cat had escaped while moving and she’d looked for her for months before resigning herself to the reality that her cat was probably dead. If those tenants had seen a friendly cat show up and immediately taken her to the shelter, it would have saved this person months of heartache, and this poor cat months of fear, ear mites, ticks, and fleas.

This is why I hate outdoor cats. Yes, they cause environmental damage. Yes, they’re going to be killed by cars or coyotes or assholes. But on a completely selfish level, I know that because of people’s normalization of outdoor cats if my indoor, microchipped cats ever got out there’s a good chance I’d never see them again. People see a loose dog running around and they assume it’s lost. They try to catch it or call the dog warden. People see a cat running around and they ignore it. Maybe they feed it for months and never even think that that cat might have someone out there worried sick.

So yeah, if I see an outdoor cat I will catch it and make sure it’s not chipped, and, in accordance to my local laws (make sure you check yours), I will feed that cat for three days, making it my (soon to be indoor) cat.

It's finally done! The little sequence that turned into a fanfic is now illustrated as I wanted on the first place.

Every time I visualized this sequence in my head, I always pictured it with this music playing in the background, but only from 1:33 to 1:48, and if you slow it down to x 0.75, it'll sound the closest to how I imagined it.

Drawing this took me a ridiculous amount of time, mostly due to having so little time to work on it because of school, that and because I'm not really skilled when it comes to digital art. But it was an enjoyable experience despite everything (making the fire was so much fun! And experimenting with the brushes was a lot of fun as well.)

Now that I finished this, I can work on the next chapter of "You're What Gives Color To the World". I hope you like this little angsty comic 😈

The blue carpenter bee is found throughout Southeast Asia, India, and Southern China, and they’re known for being large and heavy bees that live solitary lives, and are generally non-aggressive.

While European honey bees (the most common species in Australia) grow to just 17mm (0.67in) long, blue carpenter bees can reach a whopping 28mm (1.10in), which makes them appear eerily hefty.

Can confirm that this works much of the time with kids up through about 2ish.

Sometimes things are a LOT for little ones and crying is just the best option they can come up with to try and deal with it. Making that into something that is distracting and new sounding can reroute the "cry" function into the "explore" function.

It doesn't always work, because sometimes the crying is things like "I hurt and funny noises aren't enough to distract me from that". But in my experience this is a great thing to try if you've got a fussy babu.

Also, if they are young enough, burping is the answer like 98% of the time. They might fart or poop instead, but the act of bouncing and patting the back helps all of that and cures a lot of cries.
