[Drawing of a mouse writing next to crumpled up pieces of paper and a cup of coffee and a garbage can. Caption: “I thought people would look at me and say ‘She’s struggling so much. She’s clearly not good enough to do this.’ but mostly they said ‘She’s struggling so much, but she’s still doing this. That means it’s okay that it’s not always easy for me either.’ and it is. Success doesn’t have to be easy.”]
Here’s HSTHETE, the 24 hour comic I drew this year! Thanks to everybody who followed along on twitter this weekend as I posted these pages <3
not to get too deep on main but did anyone else have such deeply rooted issues with their self worth for so long that they thought as a kid/teen that their only redeeming feature was being “low maintenance” and now as an adult you give yourself guilt pangs asking for any more than the barest minimum in virtually any relationship because asking for things might negate your only good quality which is just “doesn’t ask for things”
“If the account given in Genesis is really true, ought we not, after all, to thank this serpent? He was the first schoolmaster, the first advocate of learning, the first enemy of ignorance, the first to whisper in human ears the sacred word liberty, the creator of ambition, the author of modesty, of inquiry, of doubt, of investigation, of progress and of civilization.”
~ Robert Green Ingersoll
“Do you have any idea,” Crowley said. “How much trouble I’d get into down there if anybody read this?”
Aziraphale pursed his lips. “I don’t think anyone in your part of the world reads Robert Green Ingersoll in this day and age. And besides…”
“The author of modesty. That’s me, that is. What were you going to say, angel?”
“Nothing,” said Aziraphale. “Nothing at all.”
So Neil’s really out here writing canon ficlet on tumblr now, huh.
Mr. GAIMAN. Besides? Besides, it’s true? Besides??
This jewel of the Great Lakes protects the wrecks of more than 100 vessels that have been claimed by fire, ice, collisions, and storms. The sanctuary serves as a museum of the Great Lakes’ maritime history. You can explore the many shipwrecks by diving, snorkeling, and paddling – and if you’d rather not get your feet wet, you can experience history at the many lighthouses that dot the sanctuary’s shores.

me: dress how you want!! gender is fake!!! nothing matters!!!!!!
trans person: i like gender tho

Good post OP
Denounce gender roles but respect gender identity.
‘There is no ethical consumption under capitalism’ actually there is but buying from local farmers smiths carpenters tanners hunters and craftsmen who make things organic and from scratch with ethical and sustainable sources is hard when you’re being paid jack shit
Like …. I’m pretty ok with buying wool socks from a knitter who spins her own yarn from the wool of the sheep of the farmer one town over but I don’t have $60 and my feet are cold NOW so fuck sweatshops owned by soulless homunculi it is then I fucking guess
Learning to spin yarn and knit socks and weave cloth and sew clothes has taught me a few things... to be frugal, to mend and reuse and not to waste during all parts of the lifespan of things; and that leisure time as we know it is truly a product of modern life, if I’m sitting around but not making something I’m wasting precious time. Even though this is a hobby and I can stop when it’s not convenient, it’s really changed my mindset.
This week we present more plates from the Dekorative Vorbilder, a decorative arts periodical published by Julius Hoffman in Stuttgart, Germany from 1890 until the late 1920s. These plates come from volume 20, 1909. The series featured work from a variety of artists, and it was described by the press as “a compilation of figurative representations, applied-art embellishments, plastic ornaments, decorative animal and plant studies, allegories, trophies, heraldic motifs, club insignias, coats of arms for guilds, festive ornaments, etc.” Other titles by Julius Hoffman include Der Moderne Stil, or “The Modern Style” a periodical printed from 1899-1905, and Die Kupferstiche des Meisters, “The Engravings of the Masters” published in 1911.
The Dekorative Vorbilder was issued in monthly installments. The images we are featuring this week are from Volume 20, published in 1909.

but like……….for real…………the biggest thing preventing white people from being successful allies in the struggle against white supremacy is the commitment to individualism.
“this one person did this one racism and then apologized. forgiveness of them is more important than reflecting on the systems of power that benefit them, and that continue to thrive independent of their apology.”
fuck outta here. the actions of one person do not supercede systemic power. if you fuck up and do a racism and apologize, great. fantastic. if you decide to take it upon yourself to educate other white people, even better. love it. natasha_rothwell_growth.gif
but like.
it is not incumbent upon the group you have harmed through your complicity in white supremacy to set aside the critique of systemic issues to center forgiveness of you as an individual. and if you think it is, then your apology doesn’t matter, because you set your feelings on a personal level above the harm done to whole communities by a system that, again, exists to privilege you and your feelings.
you can and should apologize and move forward and prioritize educating yourself and educating other white people. but you cannot dictate the weight that harmed communities give to that apology.
and if that thought alone is enough to make you think antiracist work is “not worth it,” then you were never in this with us to begin with.
yes white ppl you can reblog this
@thefingerfuckingfemalefury Are you reading Heathen? It's a currently ongoing comic about a lesbian viking warrior, cast out of her village after she was seen kissing a girl, now she's on a quest to overthrow Odin and his regime, and her first item on her gay agenda is to free the former queen of the valkyries, Brynnhilde, who was trapped by Odin inside a ring of fire, only the one worthy of marrying her can pass through the wall of flame, it's a task that gets our lesbian viking the attention of Freya, pansexual polyamorous goddess of love, and whose very presence leaves our heroine Too Gay To Function. I'm only a couple of issues in, but so far it's very gay and promising more.
So the comic is currently being adapted into a movie by Catherine Hardwicke, and the comics creator has already assured people on Twitter that the movie will be very gay. @chlove-art @thefingerfuckingfemalefury
OOOOOOOOOOOO
I’ve NOT read this comic before but from the plot description here it sounds like I need to catch up on it...I’ll have to look and see if I can find it in trade/back issue form and if it’s still ongoing then I will totally be adding it to my pull list to check out! :D
AND AW YASSSSSSS
I’m glad to hear it’s being made into a movie because we need more fantasy/adventure movies where the hero is a kick ass lesbian! :D
Oh fuckin shit yes

You guys I can’t with this show. The bad ass lady general gets forced into an arranged marriage and ignores her husband to dote on his concubines and treat them better than even he did. They like her more than the husband. He admits that she “stole” them from him, and they admit they never want her to leave because she spoils them rotten with “random jewelry, perfumes, makeup, silk gauze fabrics, and takes us out to afternoon tea”. She helps out their families and treats their families well too!
Sometimes a family is a bisexual lady general and her three super femme wives.
She explicitly tells them the first time she ever meets them that they need to dress up and wear fancy jewelry when they want to because they’re young and pretty.
I just.
Bless this show. The concubines are scheming to get the husband to fall in love with his wife so that she can keep spoiling them.
When you come home from work and your three femme wives are cheering on your butch wife as she practices her swordsmanship in the yard, and all four of them ignore you.
“They’re lesbians, Harold.”
Op where’s the link
It’s Oh My General/将军在上, and it’s fully subbed on Youtube!
