- In the April issue of Animedia, Director Araki and Director Koizuka stated, “I guess you could say that Levi is the main character of season 3.” What does Nakatake-san think about this? Nakatake: I think that’s absolutely correct - he’s pretty much at protagonist level. In terms of the story especially, he’s at the center of all the characters. We can also recognize once more how nimble his mind works. If a company has a boss like this, I think the results/output would be quite good. Even if the staff members might suffer hardships (Laughs).

- If you have new details on Mikasa that can be revealed for the first time, please tell us as well. Nakatake: Mikasa…I’m aware of the fact that she likes Eren. - Please also let us know some new details on Armin. Nakatake: Of course, I hope everyone cares about how he will grow as a strategist. But at the same time, I have to recommend one scene. It’s the one where he’s being pressured by an older man. - How do the two of you plan on capturing Levi’s appeal? Araki: It’s about the difference between his unfriendly, unapproachable appearance and what’s actually a warm, considerate heart within. To be honest, I feel like I could say this - Levi’s appeal was already expressed thoroughly in his debut scene.
- So the sequence in season 1, episode 9. Araki: His ability to counter Titans is #1, but he is also disgusted by the blood splatter and cleans it with a handkerchief - that showcases his germapobia and other personality traits. Immediately after, when he rescues his subordinate, he grasps the soldier’s bloody hand without hesitation. That “without hesitation” aspect was incredibly important in the anime. After that, I thought it would be impossible to not like Levi. Koizuka: In season 3, we’ll witness the “human” side of Levi that he has yet to display. For example, even if it’s hard to tell on the surface, perhaps he also possesses a “considerate” side.
