My Newest Poetry Book is Out!
It's pub day! Thank you to Kelsay Books for publishing my newest full-length poetry collection, If the Darkness is Lacking. This book comes 10 years after my first full-length book, and 8 years after my last!
This collection centers around my fascination with memory, true crime, nostalgia, my fear of mortality, and my experiences as a survivor who works in the domestic violence field.

its ok to grieve what once was + what could have been
Pretty rusty after some writer's block, but here's my first poem of 2024.

Congratulations on 6 months of recovery! I am almost at 4 months myself <3
That's fantastic! I am so proud of you! <3 Congratulations to you as well :)
I need your help with something - I thought I saw somewhere that Slippery Elm journal doesn't pay anyone who gets published via general submission, but now I can't find that on their website. Do you know if I am remembering correctly? I want to submit a poem on a personal topic that my mother doesn't know about (I live with her and am dependent on her due to disability, so I don't have my own bank account), and I don't want her to find out. So if they don't pay, I'd be able to submit without her finding out about it.
Hello! Thank you so much for asking and I'm really sorry you are in this position.
I went back into my email and re-read the permission form I signed after my poem was accepted to Slippery Elm, and it did not mention anything about payment. This is the standard permission form they send to all their authors, so unless something has changed in the past several months (my poem was accepted I believe summer of last year and published in November), it looks like they do not pay.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help with! :)
