I discovered this podcast at the beginning of high school, and let me tell you, it rewired my synapses.

Not only was it my first experience with positive LGBT representation, it was the show I clung to when everything else went to shit. Whatever was going on in my life, I knew I had this show in my corner, making me laugh, making me cry, making me feel okay about my place in the universe.

I owe the creators of this podcast more than I could express.

I see some writers saying sniper is “wearing his glasses at a weird time of day” because they assume they’re sunglasses..but they’re not, they’re called shooting glasses and are used especially in low light or hazy conditions. they block out blue wavelength light and give the wearer better contrasted vision. This is Sniper’s right thumb I’ve seen in various sfm photos. Did he hurt his thumb or something? His thumbnail is all black but the rest of his fingers/nails are fine looking.

Please explain?

His sniper rifle has a manually operated bolt action on the right-hand side. The bruise (a subungual haematoma) is caused by trying to reload too fast (too many people wanting him dead on the battlefield?) and getting his thumb caught in the sliding mechanism.

I wanna talk about Scout (unsurprisingly) real quick.

I rewatched the SFMs produced by Valve for a little more insight on him and, of course, I got to expiration. Everyone knows about Scout’s artistic abilities seen from here

He has an obvious grasp on perspective and anatomy, is able to draw cars and guns pretty freaking well. He’s been drawing for a long time, no doubt. The thing that caught my eye was the shading. Of course he is drawing in pen so shading is relatively limited with one colour but it reminded me of the way many comic books are shaded. I’m reaching a bit here but hear me out.

The comic book shading brought this into mind:

Bonk boy.

With the name, caption, and appearance, it’s not hard to tell that Bonk Boy is supposed to be a super hero-esque mask modeled after the Flash.

The beta hat, which was removed for fear of copyright, is the head of Flash’s suit.

Now, the Flash was made in the 1940s, while tf2 takes place in the 1970s. Scout is only 23, so he would have been born in the late 1940s/early 1950s. By the 1950s, Flash would already have the majority of his modern appearance down.

Both Scout and the Flash are known for their speed. Scout trained himself to run to beat his brothers to fights, and seeing as he most likely would have grown up with Flash in comic book form, he may have saw himself as him.

From all this I truly believe that at some point Scout made a superhero from himself and Flash and learned to draw to make comics out of his very own superhero.

tldr; scouts a comic book nerd.
