Just in case people want source, here you go: humans are compelled to help each other in disaster situation, humans feel an innate urge to help others. We will help strangers too, not just family, and it has been tested.
Also we’ve always taken care of our elderly and disabled. When life was literally “hunt and gather every day to live”, we saw value in taking care of those with disabilities.

I always thought of the story of the little mermaid as an excellent metaphor for racism, xenophobia, and becoming “white” or coming to America.
I imagined the story, about a little Salvadoran girl giving up “her voice” (her language) to become white (to come to America) so that a white prince would love her to be “my version” of the story.
And once you become westernized, you can’t ever go back.
And in the true version of the story, the prince doesn’t return the mermaid’s affection. True to white supremacy, the prince doesn’t even realize the mermaid’s life is at stake. He doesn’t even understand that she used to have her own voice, that once upon a time she could speak, that she traded her entire race of people to come to his kingdom and crawl up the side of a dry rock, in hopes of meager white affection and the long-shot of gaining a soul (becoming a true human being).
…and once you’ve westernized, every step is like knives.

Solidarity is not a natural state of affairs. It does not emerge from thin air based on theoretical similarities. It emerges from the difficult work of building solidarity between groups despite their differences and conflicts. Of course oppressed peoples share commonalities in who their oppressors are and how their oppression functions. But this is not immediately obvious without political education and active participation in liberation struggles.
