Well my cosplay is finally coming together. I finally got my contacts and and didn't kill my eyes. I gotta say I really like having purple eyes.

It’s hard (and by that I mean moderately irritating) being a feminist and a lover of Labyrinth fanfiction. I can only take Sarah saying “You do have power over me,” so many times.

Fanfiction writers, y u no explore progressive relationship dynamic?

Like, the Goblin King’s attracted to her, she’s attracted to him. I get that. But I [personally] like fanfictions where he is attracted to her strength and her ability/willingness to defeat him.

Why are so many of these fics having her go back on and/or denying that previous strength?

I’m tired of reading fics where Sarah admits that she was wrong. Just no. I want a story where he learns he was wrong and learns the lesson.

Or maybe an OC where an entirely new relationship can be explored and built upon without needing to ignore the original metaphors in the movie.

And why are there no Sarah/OCs? I want a Sarah/OC! With a happy ending!

Oh well, you want to read something you can’t find, you write it yourself.

I hear you. As much as I love Sarah and Jareth (when they are older), Sarah made the right choice at the end of Labyrinth by returning and saying the words. Jareth, I feel, usually needs more growth for them to work. I love it when Sarah's qualities like her strength and drive are the main source for the attraction.

As as suggestion, if you're looking for some feminist approved Labyrinth awesomeness, I highly recommend the web comic "Girls Next Door." It deals with a lot of the mistakes that both Sarah and Jareth have to overcome to work as a couple, all while maintaining a good balance of humor and drama.

If you end up creating Sarah and Jareth fic, please let me know!
