“Growing up in a family with emotionally immature parents is a lonely experience. These parents may look and act perfectly normal, caring for their child’s physical health and providing meals and safety. However, if they don’t make a solid emotional connection with their child, the child will have a gaping hole where true security might have been. The loneliness of feeling unseen by others is as fundamental a pain as physical injury, but it doesn’t show on the outside. Emotional loneliness is a vague and private experience, not easy to see or describe. You might call it a feeling of emptiness or being alone in the world. Some people have called this feeling existential loneliness, but there’s nothing existential about it. If you feel it, it came from your family.”

If you can’t hand your gf your phone at any given time to go through you aren’t doin shit right

i want you all to know that this is shit relationship advice and that if your partner can’t respect your privacy then you need to get the fuck away from them. there is nothing wrong with not wanting to share every single little detail of your life with your partner.

y'know those horror stories you hear about emotional abuse and overbearing partners (controlling who you hang out with, reading your text messages, makes you give them the passwords to your social media accounts, tracks your phone, etc.)? yeah. OP’s mindset/attitude is how shit like that starts. big red flag.

me: *deletes fucking everything off my phone*
phone: your storage is almost full

When you delete things off of a mobile device (like a phone or digital camera), the file goes to your phone’s recycle bin (just like on a desktop computer or laptop), typically an invisible folder named .trashes or .trash. There, it continues to take up the same amount of memory storage as it did before you ‘deleted’ it. To empty your mobile device’s recycling bin, plug your phone into your desktop or laptop via USB as a memory device, right click on your desktop/laptop’s recycling bin/trash, and tell it to empty your recycling bin/empty trash. Your computer will empty all .trash/.trashes folders, including the one on your phone, actually deleting the files permanently this time, freeing up your phone/camera’s memory space. Reblog to save a life.

(I know this works on MAC with my Andriod, it’s not too far a stretch to do the same on Windows and/or with other phones as well. In fact, it should be easier to do on Windows since Windows Explorer is more conducive to finding hidden folders.)

REBLOG TO SAVE A LIFE

College Admissions

Hi friends! I just finished 17 college applications and I’m fresh with advice for you all so here it is:

STANDARDIZED TESTING:

  • get this shit done ASAP; I started taking practice tests my freshman year and by the end of my sophomore year I had the score I wanted
  • it literally does not matter if you take the ACT or SAT, colleges don’t fucking care just pick one and do well on it
  • if you can, take 2 SAT subject tests; many colleges require them and so do special BA/MD programs so its best to have them prepared
  • “how do you get a good score??”: PRACTICE TESTS! literally take as many as you can and make sure you correct the mistakes you make on each of them so you’re actually learning

COMMON APPLICATION:

  • opens august 1; you do not have to submit anything then
  • you only get 10 slots for extracurricular activities so choose wisely; also you don’t necessarily need to fill all 10 slots; quality over quantity always
  • you can submit the common app to a school before you submit the writing supplement! get that shit submitted so you don’t have to worry about it later on
  • don’t type your essays on the common app; type them on a google doc and then transfer them later on so you can avoid it from crashing and not saving your work

COLLEGE LIST:

  • don’t fucking apply to all 8 Ivies
  • make sure you have safeties (easy to get into/affordable), matches (most likely will get in) along with your reaches (no fucking clue if you’ll get in)
  • be realistic about how many applications you can fill out
  • try to finalize by 1st semester senior year

COLLEGE ESSAYS:

  • genuinely spend time on these
  • don’t reuse your why X college essays
  • when answering the why X college prompt: DO YOUR RESEARCH! specifics are key; they want students that will actually matriculate
  • you can usually reuse your why X major essay so be sure to write a really good one
  • don’t be someone you’re not; just be natural and let your personality shine
  • they aren’t as bad as they seem I swear you just have to really work with
  • if you’re really having trouble with a prompt, google it and there’s bound to be admissions blogs that have written tips about answering it

i hope youre all lying and hyping your cv/resume’s up

i have never gotten an interview and not been offered a job position after it

I mean lets be honest if everyone else is gassing theirs up like no tomorrow and you’re being as honest as you can who th are the recruitment team going to be more interested in

There’s people working in my banks head office with me WITH MUCH MORE EXPERIENCE than me BUT ARE GETTING PAID LESS

we’re doing the exact same job role

the point I’m trying to make here is if you’ve handled finances for a company you’re now what i would call a treasurer my g, if you’ve done admin work you are now a secretary (or as I’ve put Management secretary)

you help some kid with his homework? you’re a private tutor.

keep your bullets points for the job role as concise and important sounding as possible AND ALWAYS EMPHASIS THAT YOURE A TEAM PLAYER IF YOURE GOING TO WORK IN A TEAM.

go into that interview room and get your story straight the night before and remember that interviews are two way conversatons yes they might be grilling you but at the end of it make sure to grill them BACK. do you have any hesitations about my qualifications? my suitability for the job? any feedback on my cv? how long have you been working at this company? do you like it here? whats the work environment like?

I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS GET THE SAME FEEDBACK WHEN THEY GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH ME

“ive never been asked those questions before” / “you were one of the strongest candidates”

throughout the interview emphasise that youre about progression, that you want more responsibilities than you did at your previous job, tell them the hours here are more suitable for me than my last ones were, AND WHEN IT COMES TO SALARY NEGOTIATION its all about continuity. tell them again that it boils down to progression. make up a reasonable figure for how much you were paid in your last role (do your research for how much the industry youre applying to or the role youre applying for pays, base it on that) tell them you expect more than you were previously paid. do not give them a figure. progression is your primary focus, tell them if youre progressing youre happy. leave it at that.

LIE THROUGH YOUR TEETH AND GET THAT MONEY

I had an interview yesterday, at the place I’ve been temping, where I busted out the “is there anything about my skills or background that makes you concerned about my fit for this job” question for the first time.

Neither of my supervisors had never gotten it before either. They had to think for a while, and then it turned into them telling me how great I am and what they love about me.

This stuff is real. I would also say: none of it is lying. This is taking experience that you normally downplay and write off, and putting it in accurate words they’ll understand.

It’s hacking the capitalist system. Why ISN’T helping a kid with homework “tutoring”, when the only thing missing is a paycheck?

It’s especially important for anyone who isn’t a cis white man, because many of us are so thoroughly trained to feel like we are not good enough.

Privilege tells people they can fake it, and that they’re good enough just as people and can learn the skills on the job. Abuse and oppression tell people they aren’t good enough as people and that even their high skills are probably below average, and that unless they had the specific job title or were using certain skills officially, nobody will think it counts.

The goal is to at least fake the confidence of a privileged person, to give the employer a chance at seeing the skills that you’ve been trained to undervalue.

LETS GET HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!grades

Things They Don't Teach You in School

•Lincoln believed white people were the superior race •Gandhi hated black people •The CIA brought illegal drugs into the country •Ronald Reagan was the devil •White people mutated from the Dravidian Albinos and would be nothing without POC

•9/11 was coordinated by the Bush administration •The laws written 15 years ago where pushed and backed by the kkk •Black people explored the world before white people where civilized and whitewashed history

•Christopher Columbus ain’t shit.

*The father of modern gynecology experimented and tortured black women during slavery for his findings. *The government was successfully sued for the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr. *The CIA introduced crack/cocaine into inner-cities across the US *The US had been sterilizing many WoC *In the Tuskegee experiments, the US gave STDs and other diseases, including syphilis to unknowing black men. *Japan was already in line to surrender when we bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima *The US created the Taliban

Tea sipping shit. I re logged this earlier. But this list got longer

Jesus…

• Native Americans had to register to become American • Black Panthers once watched over the police to prevent unjust arrests and beatings • Native American children were massively murdered when schools got too full • Black people were in zoos • There were Asian concentration camps during WW2

I have finally reached the age of most young adult protagonists yet my life is still uneventful??? where is my cool story??? my cool talents??? @ universe I’m pissed
