Spoken like a woman who’s never used garlic blossom in a stirfry, had an elderflower fritter or used Calendula and Nasturtium in a salad.

garlic blossoms (allium) balls of tiny flowers, may be white to deep purple. literally just the flowering head of the garlic you use in food. it tastes like garlic. but colorful.

elderflower, the blossom of the elderberry bush. can be battered and fried. excellent with elderberry syrup or honey. tastes fruity with a tiny hint of anise. also good in teas and sweets.

Calendula, also known as pot marigold. (please, verify you’re using pot marigold, not regular marigold. calendula is actually a daisy.) tastes similarish to bell pepper, sans crunch. leaves are also edible. should be grown with broadleaf plantain:

as a poultices of calendula and plantain can be used to rapidly heal small cuts and scrapes, and are also helpful for other dermatitis. don’t use it on deep wounds though, as it can and will cause the surface skin to heal before the underlying tissues. all of broadleaf plantain is also edible. if bitter.

Nasturtium ranges in color from bright yellow to deep red. it’s peppery and very slightly spicy.

Personally I love squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta and fried in a pan. Not ideal if you also want to harvest squash, though.

Roses are edible, as @cannibalcoalition likes to prove by biting the blossoms off in front of shady customers.  You should hit them up for more edible flower options, since they’re a florist.

Don’t forget hibiscus! Edible straight off the bush, or you can dry it and make a sweet-tart, slightly peppery tea out of it. The deep read tea makes a lovely sorbet with lemon, ginger and honey. The dried blossoms are often sold as jamaica (ha-MY-ca) in Mexican and Latinex mercados.

Violet (regular, not African) is a classic blossom to candy or make syrup out of. To candy, dip the fresh blossom in simple syrup and sprinkle with coarse sugar crystals. Rose petals are the other classic blossom to candy.

I just learned that there’s a lovely 3-petal purple flower known as Spider wort that can also be candied.

You can also cook with ginger blossoms, if you can find them, for a light ginger note. Orange blossoms can be made into syrup, too.

Hey, how about dandelions? Leaves, yes, nice green in salad, but…

Zucchini blossoms can be eaten like @glumshoe mentions eating squash blossoms. I bought a pack once which had baby zucchini with the flowers still intact.

As well as battering and frying elderflower, you can make a cordial of it, which basically means cooking it up with sugar and water like you would a sugar syrup, then straining the flowers out afterwards.

Rose petal jelly is delicious. This is the conserve, not the gelatine dessert, by the way. Again, cook it up with sugar, and other ingredients like lemon juice and pectin to get a good set. I personally lean towards jelly, which means you strain the petals out, but this jam version looks reasonable. I used to like having it on scones with cream. (I say ‘used to’ because I don’t have any and haven’t had any for awhile.)

I’ve also used lavender in cooking. I saw one herbes de Provence recipe that included lavender in the mix, and since I used to attend a lavender festival yearly, my friends have had lavender icecream and other delicacies. (I’m vegan, and there usually isn’t a vegan option or I’d’ve tried them too.)

You can apparently cook with geraniums, too. In fact, this website has a list of edible flowers. It’s quite long. :)

Okay so I just got off the phone with them. I talked to a trans girl named Aurora & she was super helpful! She gave me a few doctors to talk to & encouraged me to seek therapy instead of just rushing to get my pills. She literally found a trans friendly therapist in my town & I would definitely recommend giving them a call!

GUYS COME SEE THIS!!!!!! I didn’t know about this, come look!!!!!!

Okay so we have this rusty old thing in our one flower bed that would make an awful noise when you turned it and Buck Buck absolutely hated the sound of it, freaking out every time, wanting to somehow fight it??? Anyway I haven’t turned the Sphere of Rage for several years now and figured I’d see if it can still work its great and terrible magic.
