i am in fact NOT being very brave about it and will whine and complain until i die. As is my right

you know, the conversations around how destiel should have been handled always kind of gives me pause because, to me, it feels like there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of dean and cas’ relationship and what a queer relationship should look like. the inherent need to love out loud and be visible in living queerly is important and good but not all encompassing. queer love is allowed to be quiet and private and small, it doesn’t have to be pride flags and shouting from roof tops and i’m saying this as a proud queer person in an openly queer relationship. seeing cas’ confession scene in the context of 2020 and the type of representation that we were getting and the kind of representation we still needed to fight for puts cas and deans relationship in a weird place if needing to be loud and upfront even if that doesn’t make sense for the characters. even now a lot of queer rep feels extremely loud and emphasizes coming out and visibility. it’s slowly getting better with shows like ofmd where it’s just queer, there’s no special conventions in the writing queer people just exist and fall in love with minimal question. i feel like cas and dean should have be transformative in that regard for the type of queer rep we were getting back then but instead it was just a vague nothing, which made people feel the need to fight for it to have been louder than it needed to be to be seen at all.

any and all of my romantic relationships are open secrets for lack of a better phrasing, and that’s how my partners and i like our relationships. it’s simply no one’s business if we’re queer or not so we don’t feel the need to preface our relationship or compensate for anything, but we also have zero need to hide our relationship and in that way we are openly queer in the same way anyone who’s straight is openly straight. that to me is something that feels very true of cas and dean, they wouldn’t necessarily have loud declarations of queerness or love cause they don’t do that with any of their relationships. they love quietly and reverently in all of their relationships so it feels stilted to have them express that to each other in any other way (even if the art and fan content is really cute u guys are doing great). the only thing i want of their post canon relationship is to 1) have one and 2) for it to be a place they can heal and rely on each other and love at their own pace without the pressures that come from queer relationships in media.

but i’m also new here so feel free to let me know what y’all think of all this and how their relationships was portrayed. with regards to or in-spite of how it was(n’t) handled in the finale.

does anyone know how to sleep, seems preposterous to me. what do you mean you close your eyes and dream little dreams? ridiculous

do you ever think that maybe dean’s promiscuity wasnt just some kind of heteronormative performance but rather the only way that he could figure out to get someone to be close to him? because he lived a hunters life even as a child he pretty much had to keep everyone at arms length. but like that boy just wanted to be touched. he wanted it to feel like someone loved him. and maybe that was the only way he knew how to meet those needs?????

and that in later seasons when he had his family that he built he was just,,, far less promiscuous. like yes there was a lot going on and you could make the argument that he just didn’t have the time or energy or whatever which would be a totally fair argument. but he went from almost hyper sexual and flirty when he felt alone and like he could never have even a passing relationship with anyone outside his family to being casually flirty and interested in hooking up on occasion when he had the family he made for himself.

can i just say, i love literally every single character misha collins plays on supernatural. i know that a lot of them are just different versions of cas, but misha playing lucifer, the empty, playing apocalypse world cas???? chefs kiss, amazing. a lot of the reason i started watching to begin with was cas, and sometimes it was a little frustrating cause i just wanted regular cas around all of the time but i really, really appreciate all of the different performances given by misha collins.

sorry but i'm just obsessed with the fact that according to the production draft AND the pink draft, unborn jack would've shown cas a vision in which he was shirtless + dean was happy & thanking him and immediately cas was like "yep this child needs to be born actually idk about the rest of you but imma go take some doula classes see you later"

i’m sorry WHAT

thinking about dean accidentally praying to cas. not even something sexy, just something along the lines of “omg cas would love this bee sweater, i wish he was here.”

and maybe sometimes he’ll just be kinda sad and out of it and desperate for any kind of relief but he’s not allowed to ask, he’s not allowed to lean on anyone. so instead he just quietly thinks of cas to try make himself smile a little bit cause cas tends to do that to him but instead he accidentally prays that cas was there with him to make him smile. and cas is just completely taken aback because dean just doesn’t let anyone help him ever but he can hear the plea for comfort so deeply that he’s already on his way to do exactly what deans subconscious prayer is absolutely begging for.

castiel is a bee!! castiel identified himself as a bee!! he seems himself as a bee!! it's why he loves bees so much because HE!!!! IS!!!! A!!!! BEE!!!!!!

you know how bees just have one task? and they're good at that one task? and they complete that one task? and they dont question their one task? and they work, they work day and night completing their one task- their one true purpose. and they work so so so hard, and they do it day in day out and they don't question the task. why would they question the task? questioning the task is wrong. there's no need to question the task. bees do what they're supposed to, they do what they have to. they work for an illusive queen, a queen that doesn't speak to them and they do their little task like a good little bee and they dont question their task. they never. question. their. task.

PREV YOU UNDERSTAND. YOU GET It.

from time to time i like to think about all the "normal" people sam and dean met over the years (especially sam's friends and acquaintances from standford) that inevitably saw them in the news for all of their murdering and assorted crimes. like rhonda hurley for sure thinks that guy she slept with a few times way back when turned out to be a serial killer. jess' parents have definitely been asked to be on a podcast about how their deceased daughter's boyfriend and their has been speculation that it wasn't just an accidental fire, you know?
