Heyy, here are some storyboard pages from the A.T. finale, labeled background drawings for BMO's cave. I had a lot of fun going through all the Adventure Time props, I went nuts on this.

Annnnd here are some drawings I did while working on the finale.

I tried to put a lot of answers in the finale’s intro and I wanted to include a new fire elemental and slime elemental to give closure on Flame Princess and Slime Princess (The other elementals are accounted for in the intro.)

Also seen here is a new Lumpy Space Princess, and possum named Clover that I came up with for a pitch that eventually turned into “The Moe You Know / The More You Moe”, the original drawings of BMO as the King of Ooo, the finale-era Ice Thing and Turtle Princess that I drew on a plane, and some Shermy and Beth notes (I changed Shermy's sword design so it could fold up and fit in his little bag)

Going to do a bit of an Adventure Time dump!

-Sketch Dump PART 1-

I did these drawings/notes before the Graybles 1000+ outline was written, so I’m guessing …. early 2014, late 2013? I got obsessed with my (at the time) headcanon for the future lore of AT.

-This version of the ice king/ice thing didn’t last too long, but I still like its crystal-spike eyeballs.

-Shermy is a cat because of the line in Mortal Recoil when Finn says “I’m a cat, I’m an agile cat!” (which is followed by one of my favourite jokes in the show where Finn says something between “Now, Ice King” and “Meow, Ice King”)

-Wintergreen was meant to be a replacement for Peppermint Butler, (originally I thought the 1000+ stuff should be alpine-ish, hence his outfit)

-ALSO that Gunter Ice King was before I knew anything about Orgalorg, I thought at the time “wouldn’t it be funny if Gunter was a major villain”, I had no idea that that was already being worked on. You can see the early versions of the pup soldiers and space shuttle from Graybles 1000+.

Hey, remember Gibbon? I have Gibbon thoughts. Honestly I had/have a real mania re: the pups and the 1000+ Adventure Time universe. I’m glad some of it made it into the show, and the stuff that didn’t is fine too. That’s life, “none of us are getting out of here alive” haha.

But man, I can’t wait for the finale to air (Tonight at 6!) I love it a lot. It’s very beautiful and funny, and very A.T.

I still miss working on Adventure Time, the work was nourishing in a way that I might not find again. It was an honest honour to work with the artists on the show. I’d list names but I’d have to list everyone, everyone was a unique creator. I love a lot of people from A.T, I think I loved every artist I knew well.

Another Pup. I loved working on Adventure Time, I still think about the show a LOT. I don’t want to speak for other board artists but I feel like a lot of us got caught into different manias in the show? Me at least, I obsessed about the pups, the 1000+ universe, and the future of the pups in the 1000+ universe. I always liked the idea of them being too powerful. I love the idea of characters who are like walking nukes. Sweet P. is this too. My favorites.

PUPS, the A.T. finale is airing on monday sept. 3rd, and I love it. I drew a bunch of pups to commerorate. I love pups. With the speed that pups age I figure Ooo will be lousey with pups in a 1000 years. I have a lot of thoughts on this.

Hourlie comics from yesterday, 1/2

My all-time favourite song probably.

I've never participated in Evan Dahm's goblin week but it coincides so much with my new love, Games Workshop's Blood Bowl.

I’m really looking forward to hanging out at Jack's on Queen on the 22nd. It’s a great shop in Elmvale run by wonderful people. It’s a nice hub! If anyone can swing by the shop next saturday, you should. I’ll be there signing books,and giving away Cat Rackham Gets Depression posters with each book purchase, but also it’s a long period so I’ll be drawing and talking and afterwards hopefully we can get a game of something in. I’ll have Cosmic Encounter in the car.

These are the brownies Leslie made us, after she poured a bottle of wine in me, after Adam called to tell me that Adventure Time was ending. AT was the best job I’ve ever had, I am in love the show and this is for sure a difficult goodbye. November 2011 Leslie and I got engaged and I emailed Pen and said like “you know the boarding job I turned down a while back, can I do that.” because I was going to be a husband and I needed a career. So this job has been very exactly our entire marriage, (I even think that we started dating about the time when I started doing revision work on Adventure Time.) What a tough goodbye! Thank you to everyone I’ve worked with, (I can’t think of anyone I’ve worked closely with who I didn’t love), but especially thank you to Adam and Pen. I feel very lucky. BUT while production is packing up, 2018 is a long ways away and I’m in love the episodes that are coming. Some really hot stuff.
