Hey there! It doesn’t matter who I am, I’m just here to tell you something!
Otherkinity, fictionkinity, and therianthropy aren’t coping mechanisms or games. There’s no “kinning for fun” in fact, there’s no “kinning”! It’s not something you do, it’s not even a choice. It’s an identity. If you do find yourself identifying as something other than human for coping, then look into copinglinks.
Definition of a copinglink: An identity that would otherwise be under the fictionkin/otherkin/therian umbrella that you choose to use for means of coping.
What makes an otherkin or therian... an otherkin or therian? Well, a therian is someone who identifies as an earthly animal on a non-physical level. This could be coming from spiritual, psychological, or neurological origins! It varies by beliefs and individuals. If you are a therian, you don’t choose it, and you can’t become a therian. An otherkin or fictionkin is the same, but instead of earthly, it’s mythical or fictional!
Proper terminology:
Kins? Nope! Kintypes/theriotypes
Kinnie? Nope! Otherkin/therian/fictionkin
Kinning? Nope! It’s not an action, perhaps you mean “Awakening” or “Discovering”?
How many kintypes can I have? Well, there’s no set amount. Although, I hate to burst your bubble and I’m not trying to hurt anyone, but if you have over 10 kintypes.. then you probably need to do some more reflection. Have you always experienced these traits? Do you truly feel like you are all those kintypes?
It hurts true otherkin/therians/fictionkin to call yourself one of us because you strongly relate to a character or other being. We experience hard struggles and to have others claim it’s mostly about memories, aesthetics, and wanting to be in a certain universe? It really does hurt. If you find you just identify “with” as opposed to “as” a being or beings, then look into kithtypes. That’s the definition.
Also “factkin” isn’t real, it’s borderline identity theft and it’s certainly not okay.
Please feel free to ask questions, but refrain from being aggressive. Despite what you might think, I’m not trying to invalidate or harm anyone.
