Here's the thing about Jareth from Labyrinth right?
He's made up.
That's not necessarily the same thing as not REAL. But he, just like all her friends who show up in her room before her adventure as toys and figurines, exist in relation to her, in response to what she wanted and needed. She told the story and there he was, there he always had been. But she's a teenage girl who doesn't know what she wants yet, and Jareth kind of pays the price.
"but the king of the goblins had fallen in love with the girl, and had given her certain powers." He's an archetypal oxymoron. He's both the dastardly baby stealing villain and the royal love interest trying to relieve the heroine's suffering, Cinderella style. He's fucked either way by being both. She doesn't know if SHE wants to be the villain or the heroine until he shows up and then she decides on the heroine, so he has to sneer and menace and challenge but it's too late for him!! it's too late, The King Of The Goblins Had Fallen In Love With the Girl, he's Cinderella's prince too and he has to try, he gives her a poofy dress and takes her to fucking goblin prom, sweeps her around the room like a music box with perfect posture and room for Jesus.
But it doesn't work buddy, it can't work. You're just a story for a teen girl to grow up in, and as the villain you have to be defeated. He's so complex because his tropes contradict themselves, and he doesn't understand why he has to lose when he was only doing the job he was given. In his last scene he is pale as death with shadows under his eyes, backing away and begging for his happy ending with nonsense mishmash promises that belong to both halves of him.
"I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me." I'm sure you are, Jareth. No wonder.
@reddpenn Love it when you show us your new rocks :3
ROCKS!!!

Recently I've seen a lot of people in many different fandoms go after those who express interest in shipping characters who aren't together in canon, which is just...wild to me. Like these people cite a lot of different reasons why the ONLY right relationship people can ship is the canon one, and some of the takes are even valid, but the core argument is just nuts to me as a person who's been around in fandom for a long time. Idk. I have no solid theory or anything but it feels like this weird shift somehow corresponds with the end of Supernatural or events around that time. It was like Destiel became "canon" and the show ended and now fandom people today have forgotten how shippers were literally ready to burn down the CW to claw the most lukewarm canon acknowledgement of a non-canon ship out of the writers' hands.
Like buddy, do you know what shipping IS? Do you know the history of that term?? The literal definition (you can go google it right now if you don't believe me) is created from people's desire to put two characters together in a non-canonical relationship. The act of shipping has been NON-CANON by nature from the start. So for some (many young, some not) fandom people to say nowadays that you can ONLY ship things from canon?? It's...absolutely revealing a flaw in how we share and perpetuate fan history. Absolutely baffling that the very term created to refer to something could be weaponized against that very same thing. We need to do a better job educating people on how all the fandom staples like AO3 and ship culture came about lest we lose them to the very things they were created to combat.
newbie fic authors, shooting themselves in the foot: This fic is bad haha I suck at writing lol I am being mean to myself in the hopes that you will be nice to me but actually am dissuading anyone from even clicking on my fic because all I have done to advertise it is tell you why you shouldn't read it

Completed double knit fossil cowl. Pattern is the ‘Fossil Frenzy Cowl’ by HandHuntKnits that was adapted for double knitting technique.
This cowl was a year in the making, with lots and lots of help from a member in my fibre community who helped work out colour control for the twisted rib & created a stretchy twisted rib bind off for me. I dedicate this shawl to them, as without them this crazy idea to double knit this would never have happened.
I asked my friends on Discord if they used "psipsipsi" or "swswsw" when they are trying to call kitties, and I got a wide array of answers and it got me wondering--
How do you
Thank you to @space-glitter-gay, @frogs-under-logs, @justoneofthosebibliophiles, and Virginia for the blessing and the other options!
And to thank you for your answer, here's a photo of our adopted kitten:

I'm so here for this lmao
You've been lied to your entire life - VEGETABLES. DON'T. EXIST! (no, seriously, they don't)
So yesterday my friend Mary asks me “you wnat to do something kind of random with me?”
So of course we ended up committing some crimes, then going for a hike to see a waterfall.
The moss, mushrooms, and lichens were in fine form.
