Permanently Exhausted

@witchcraft8775

Those fingers in your hair. That sly come hither stare, that strips your conscious bare it's...the slow onslaught of existential dread on your delicate psyche.

Tuira Kayapó brandished her machete in the face of a government official who was trying to convince indigenous leaders to accept a mega-dam project in the Amazon, 1989

Electricity won’t give us food. We need the rivers to flow freely. Don’t talk to us about relieving our ‘poverty’ – we are the richest people in Brazil. We are Indians.”
  • part of kayapó’s speech during this event

also! she’s still alive! that sort of thing is always worth pointing out to show that we really aren’t too far removed from events like this! here’s a 2019 photo of her:

Person with a mullet wearing a muscle shirt in a garage: You might think these are some normal cowboy boots, they ain’t. These are boot scooters. [Takes wheels out of dusty boots and stomps them on the ground] If you ain’t bootin’…You ain’t scootin’. [wheels away and runs into a fridge]

It’s very important to know that when he runs into the fridge, the ceiling light turns on

it obviously makes sense, but one of my friend’s kids is going into swim class, and all the parents got an email today going, “when little ones are scared, they cling on to instructors. PLEASE trim their nails.”

i don’t know why that’s so funny to me, but just. the idea of this poor, scratched swim instructor having to make sure to email before each class as a reminder to please declaw the children SENT me.

When I taught swim lessons I remember trying to delicately ask parents not to cover their child in shea/coconut/olive oil before lessons.

“I understand your skincare regimen and wanting to protect their tender baby flesh from the pool chemicals, but COULD YOU NOT OIL YOUR CHILD LIKE A GREASED PIG before tossing them in the POOL? Thanks EVER so much!”

Happy writing!

Feel uncomfortable going to Cheesecake Factory when it’s so under the watch of the eye of Sauron

I made this post in 2016 and it got 3 notes, suddenly people are interacting with it. What is happening how did you even find it

How doe this post have less than 1,000 notes when “The Eye Of Sauron at the Cheesecake factory” has been living rent-free in my head for almost a decade?

Is this a common phenomena? I thought this was a Big Post; I remember seeing it a few times

anyone who acts like there's some kind of implicit understanding or sisterhood between all women is straight up lying

i made this post specifically about a friend of mine, so let me say this: if you want to be a girl, but feel like you can't because you would never be comfortable in The Club of Womanhood, don't worry! feeling like an alienated little weirdo who will never Get what other girls seem to pick up naturally is in fact an extremely Girl experience

I'd add "rich" and correct "white" to "majority race" because women like this exist regardless of country or culture.

Yoko Ono was the Japanese equivalent. She grew up with very rich parents and went to private schools. She also believed herself to be oppressed because she was a woman when in reality she was privileged and a horrible person overall.

India calls women like that "Lavanya from South Delhi." South Delhi is very insular and rich and its residents are known for trying desperately to ape Americans as depicted by Hollywood movies. They are also seen making very shallow "girlboss feminist" takes on social media.

The song Gangnam Style was a parody about rich, shallow Girlbosses. The Gangnam district of Seoul is a rich area populated almost entirely by plastic surgeons.

They’re about to break so many laws it’s not even funny, I can feel it in my bones

It’s about PayPal. This is all about fucking PayPal

He’s still pissed they fired him. He’s still pissed they didn’t like his idea of calling PayPal X

20 years and he has not learned a single thing. He’s still throwing a tantrum about people not liking his bad name suggestion decades ago

CAN EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN FOR A SECOND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

So there is a bill called the kosa bill (kids online protective act) which may sound good at first

But if you look into it deeper it’s basically a excuse to take away freedom of speech and privacy for everyone under the age of 17

It may also take down apps like wattpad tumblr (yep this app) ao3 etc

And as someone who writes a lot and has a lot of online friends this would be a literal nightmare if this became a law

This tried to become a law last year but failed and now it is going to be reviewed again in 4 days so it’s now or never to act

The main way to help is to spread awareness (like I’m doing) by reposting liking sharing and making your own posts

If you can pls sign the petition and call a law maker of your state

But to people who can’t do that (like me) pls just spread awareness

Let’s try to do all we can do in this short amount of time to stop this from becoming a law

That’s all <3

(Also I’m putting this under popular tags so more people see it)

No one asked but I think the secret to making the enemies-to-lovers trip work is respect. They can loath each other, but they have to loath each other as equals. Like “sorry but no one else is allowed to murder this man but me” + “it’s an honor and privilege to despise you.”
