there seems to be confusion in the notes so i thought i'd explain. the symbol floating around the two is of the nazar meant to protect against the evil eye. the evil eye is the belief one can be cursed by the malevolent glare of someone else and when the nazar breaks that is perceived as both that its done its job protecting you and as a warning. the many broken ones around toriel are meant to symbolize the children she first gave sanctuary to and the ones she blames herself for not saving. to frisk she is giving a hamsa instead of a nazar, which is also a symbol of protection used against the evil eye
