Oh, fuck this. If you're a new user, don't forget to set your dashboard to Following and turn "Based on your likes" and "Best stuff first" off
going from the reddit star wars fandom to the tumblr star wars fandom is giving me insane whiplash. the upside is that people aren’t bitching about every single imperfect detail in the entire franchise, but the downside is that i’ve seen more fanart of obi wan and commander cody tenderly knowing each other than i have ever wanted to in my life in the last three hours and it has probably fundamentally altered the way i interact with the entire franchise
after the initial shock of being plunged into the icy cold lake of seeing my childhood action figures caressing each others sweaty chests in a gentle, hidden moment after a battle, i’ve been able to get my wits about me and realize that yeah, i’m kinda with it
Walter Peck is such a difficult character to watch once you've gained a slightly more in-depth look at how bureaucracy actually works, because on the one hand it's far more clear how deeply incompetent he is, and on the other hand you can tell how blatant of a Reaganite era "hysterical environmental man making up climate- I mean chemical hallucinations to oppress a business just because" stereotype he is and kinda want him to win anyway out of spite.
Reblog and put in the tags a fictional character you associate with whom you’re reblogging this from
oh gee discord should I try adding numbers? should I try that???? should I try adding numbers to the end of my username so that it's individualized and only mine???? should I try adding numbers??????????
Been thinking a lot about fiction-writing AI software. Been thinking about how people want to be writers but don't ever put a word down because they're scared of getting it wrong or doing it badly. Been thinking about how using bots to create the parts of a story you struggle with will stop you from learning that skill and will make you a fundamentally worse writer. Been thinking about how some writing communities get mean with new writers on wobbly baby horse writing legs who call unpolished or unpracticed work "cringe" or "bad" or "not worth salvaging" and don't give feedback in good faith. Been thinking about how people aren't allowed to be bad at things anymore. Been thinking A Lot about how writing communities are a large part--not the only part or biggest part, but still--of what's driving these new or wannabe writers to the AI platforms so they can avoid being shamed when they share their work.
Anyway. Be nice to each other. One way to push back against AI fiction and AI stories is to foster kind and encouraging writing communities where we all help each other up vs. tearing someone down so you feel taller. Don't let the bots win.
This is a lot to take in tbh but this is really helpful to refer to. I really appreciate all the help I've been getting from the Tumblr community. I love the sense of community this place has :))
For example there is a handful of media I hate and I vent about it on my blog. But I'm not about to tag it for other people to find to ruin their day. It's older established etiquette that's really helped make this site a safe space for all users!
dude.... these 🤨 sunglasses
"i cant wait to get home from work so i can do all that stuff i wanted to do"
when i get home from work:
do not keep putting those two unfunny autistic faggots on my dash
can he sit on your dash for a minute?? he'll be very polite :]
you have to start to scroll away and then come back and reblog this
[ID: a picture of Columbo (Peter Falk), a short white man with brown curly hair, wearing a brown suit and a beige trenchcoat. He's sitting down. The background is transparent. /end ID].
Anyway if you see this you have to reblog and tag with a delight from ur day -- even the littlest thing counts
things could be worse. you could have school tomorrow.
calling chatgpt “AI” feels exactly the same to me as calling those motorized skateboards “hoverboards”
