yo, whaddup?

@winesap-apple-lover

21 she/her/they/them American (yikes) I quit dating apps after my "Hello there, Mr. One-Titanium-Bone-Man" opener didn't get a response on Bumble in my defense, he said he had one titanium bone.

A clip from the LA Riots of ‘92. The emotions of a black owner ran high when he discovered that his business was ruined.

different decade, same SHIT

It’s really not the best idea to share these things without context. Especially when white people sit here and try to use these things as evidence that black people and our movements are harmful. They said the same thing about marches on Selma and the like.

So for context, the “la riots” or more properly termed the La uprising was a result of the absolutely brutal and horrific beating and torture of Rodney King at the hands of LA PD and the subsequent acquittal of all the officers involved. So when you say “different decade, same shit” the “same shit” is the horrific systemic racism that leads to the death and torture of black people and the absolution of white racists and dismissal by white Americans which in turn spurns justified outrage.

It’s also important to note that the brunt of the damage occurred in Korea town because a few days after the brutality showed to Rodney King, a Korean shop owner shot a 14 year old black girl in the head because he falsely accused her of shop lifting. The shop owner was given a criminally light sentence which also sparked outrage.

The reason that there were black shop owners affected by these things is that in tandem with the shooting, gentrification saw Asian and Latino people overtaking black neighborhoods and displacing the local black communities in Los Angeles. So while these attacks were focused on members of the Korean community in Los Angeles, there were black shops that got caught in the crossfire.

It’s also important to know that almost all of the people injured and left dead were black people at the hands of a fiercely and swiftly militarized police force.

The aftermath of the LA uprising saw 2 of the officers brought up on federal charges of civil rights violations and found them guilty while the other 2 were again acquitted.

11,000 people, most of whom were black, were arrested and saw harsher punishment than the officers who beat Rodney king and the shop owner who fatally shot a 15 year old girl.

So the increasing burden of systemic racism, extreme poverty, displacement, and finally the public brutality shown to black people with absolutely no chance at justice reached a boiling point which resulted in the 1992 LA uprising.

So rather than hyper focusing on the unfortunate fact that some black business owners get caught in the cross fire as a way to pretend that you care about the material damages done to black people, how about we focus on the conditions that continue to result in these kinds of tragedies in the first place by addressing institutional white supremacy and its resulting cyclical poverty and oppression.

You cannot use one black man’s outage as a political weapon while ignoring the rest because that truth does not suit your racist agenda

Op…no offense but the fact that you posted this without ANY of the necessary context people who aren’t educated on this moment in black history don’t already know is very suspect. Even if it wasn’t your intention, you posted this without clarifying any of the actions and injustices that lead to this point, which is only intensifying nonblack people’s ignorance and apathy towards current black issues.

[ID: a cereal box that has been edited to read “Cap'n Crunch’s Oops! All Mourning Doves” Beneath is a bowl filled with pictures of mourning doves, and several more rise up the left side of the box. Cap'n Crunch has also been replaced with a picture of a mourning dove. /end ID]

pan people are good and I like them. if ur pan I’m mentally shaking ur hand and “nice.”

bi/pan solidarity is really good and easy actually. I walk up to my pan friend and ask “hey why do you id as pan?” and they say “because I feel it matches my internal perception of my orietation. why do you id as bi?” and I say “because I feel it matches my internal perception of my orietation. yknow, our lived experience of being attracted to multiple genders is almost identical, it would be really stupid if I were to treat you badly and spend large amounts of my time insulting you because of some weird idea that your identity means you inherently think you’re better than me and wish I’d stop existing, right? that would be fucked up and mind numbingly pointless, right?” and they say “yeah man, it would be” and then we make a cake :)

Me, a bisexual:

for personal reasons* i need to raise some money, so i’m doing a fundraiser goal that includes multiple rewards. i am also taking requests! current rewards include:

  • I start a TIKTOK account
  • NEW CHAPTER OF THE GRINCH X TONY FANFIC! I’ve been struggling w/ executive dysfunction, but if we meet the goal I’ll sit down and stare at a goddamn wall until the next installment manifests itself into existence.
  • new childhood misadventures viz Don’t Touch The Pink Stuff (i suggest The Saga of Nancy the Hamster)
  • 100 new selections from Gaudy’s Grimoire
  • original video content. i’ll let ya’ll vote on the specifics. current ideas include Q&A sessions, sleep-deprived rantings on a topic of your choosing, and very serious conversations between me and the cat. but my favorite concept so far:
  • a video that is just one long vitriol-fueled compilation of me telling specific people to fuck off. “Fuck you andrew jackson, fuck you reagan and rot in hell, fuck yourself you orange fascist scum” etc. everyone who donates gets to add a name. i will absolutely curse out your shitty parent/manager/school bully if that would bring you joy! (though i recommend not using surnames)

anyway that what the current ko-fi / paypal goal gets you!

okey dokey, the reward content is percolating!

i’m having minor surgery tomorrow, but this weekend i will sit down and stare at a wall until either the brickwork crumples to dust, or the next Grinch x Tony the Tiger chapter materializes into existence!

Surgery went well! I will probably be a little dopey tomorrow, but will get back to work on Friday. For now please enjoy this picture of an Abalone sea snail with itty bitty eyes

the shell looks like this!

“I’ll probably be a little dopey tommorow” you mean more than you usually would?

well I’m about to take my pain meds so

LET’S FIND OUT

the overwhelming grief of losing an entire year to sickness, violence and pandemic fatigue is settling in so id like to remind everyone that: you are not a failure, yes there is still a happy future for you, and wearing a mask is very sexy

TMA entity that should exist: The Monotony… I feel like it’s a really primal part of brains to get that existential dread over the same thing happening over and over again, everyone’s mind hates the same thing happening over and over again and it makes you angry and annoys you. But there’s also the fear of what happens when you DO like it, when you’re stuck in routine, when things never change.  Water torture and loops and existential fear over a lack of change and cycles of abuse and songs that always seem to be playing…like the Fraiser theme song.

I worked at a comic shop when I was 16 and they had extended versions of all the disney afternoon themesongs on the store playlist and I promise you however long you THINK the extended version of the tailspin theme song is, it’s like… x3 as long as that, and feels even longer, and it was genuinely like. maddening.

When I was a kid I would try to eat mom’s unseasoned chicken and like it tasted awful but you felt guilty cause you know how hard she worked to make it and you didn’t want to sound like dad but it tasted bad and you were hungry and so you got frustrated with yourself and wanted to cry. Shit tastes awful you can’t even fucking chew it. it gets so dry and mashed up in your mouth and you can’t swallow. The Monotony is that feeling but your dad is talking about how this is the only thing he ate for dinner as a kid and is like kinda proud of it as you get the feeling she makes it to make him stop complaining and get a scope of how far y'all go to make him happy. Then you grow up and you’re in your 20s and you’re eating the same meal of beans and rice for three weeks because it’s all you can afford and you desperately want to eat anything else but you can’t afford to spend the money.

The monotony is responsible for corporate monopolies, the nullification of ideas, the same song on repeat.. the monotony created all 90s disaster movies, 80s action movies, 70s sex comedies, and all Disney movies of the past 10 years. Monotony is when you watch an mcu marathon with your friends but every movie is just kinda thor 2 and you look around and you’re like “is it just me or were they all thor 2?” but everyone is talking about how good black panther was. There is a triumph in creation and a joy in art because it fights off the monotony, who grows inbetween the cracks of the 15th season of a show you once loved but can’t stop watching.

  • a collage of every man who’s ever been The Bachelor

 shit like this.

Did a survey on dndbeyond and I laughed out loud when I got to this one. Wizards of the Coast is pretty strict about where their IP ends up, and have taken down more than one very useful site over the years that hosts dnd content. I don’t know if anyone else is gonna take this survey, but this is good to know for the future: protect non licensed sites from take downs by not being a snitch, purposefully or accidentally.

hedonism is good actually rich people just suck at it

i think not only do we have a moral obligation to preserve human life but also a moral obligation to maximize the pleasure of others and ourselves (provided it doesn’t hurt anyone)

people don’t just deserve to eat food, they deserve to eat good food that tastes good without worrying about nutritional content

people don’t just deserve clothes, they deserve nice clothes that are well made and fit their personal style

people don’t just deserve the bare minimum, they don’t just deserve to be alive, they deserve to live and have nice things for no other reason than making that particular person happy
