WINDS IN THE EAST

@windsintheeast / windsintheeast.tumblr.com

Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin' is brewin', about to begin. Can't put my finger on what lies in store, but I fear what's to happen all happened before. I like fandoms. Most of them. Okay, some of them. I post them a lot. And things....

One thing I’m noticing in all of this discourse are the people rolling their eyes at Taylor, saying she should just ignore it when someone belittles her music by falsely claiming she doesn’t write her own songs. She spoke up so she’s playing victim. Of course, she’s making it about HER. She ought to just shut up and take it.

Because it’s 2022 and women still aren’t allowed to use a public (or private) platform to stand up for themselves without being ridiculed and criticized. Because women need to just silently fume or hurt rather than speak their truth or correct an incorrect assumption. People are allowed their opinions. People are allowed to not like her music. But making a false claim about her songwriting isn’t opinion… and she’s allowed to point that out. So tired of people (especially other women) giving another woman sh*t for using her voice and having every right to do it.

hey don't let the media tell you this election is already decided. it's exactly what they said in 2016 and we all remember how THAT worked out. 2020 could be a knife's edge election, and 18-24 year olds could easily be the deciding voice. please register to vote. think about the people that might not survive another four years of this.

that time Andy Samberg explained that Holt being gay isn’t a joke

I’m really glad this post has gotten a lot of notes.

I am so in love with how fucking annoyed Andy looks when he makes himself laugh

There are plenty of jokes about him being gay. They just aren’t ridicule. Every time he has to pretend to he attracted to women, he can only think of “heavy breasts” as an attractive trait. His husbands parents “think I turned him gay with my magic genitalia.” We can’t forget “are you really pulling the gay card right now?” *deadpan* “yas queen”

This interviewer doesn’t think those are jokes, because what he really wants to see is homophobia

Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.

Fuck me thats clever, actually worth reblogging

Matthew Rushin, a young black man with Autism and ADHD, was sentenced to 50 years in prison after being in a car accident, after which he was manipulated into pleading guilty for attempted suicide and murder with the promise he could return home to his mother who was battling cancer at the time. 40 years of the 50 were suspended, but he still has to serve 10 years.

There were serious injuries during the accident, but no one died. Matthew has never been in trouble before.

In the words of his mother, “Matthew has been my rock through my battle with cancer and understands what life is all about.Matthew exemplifies what it means to be a productive member our community, he is a loving, caring, compassionate about life and everything that surrounds it, student at ODU, worked at Panera and volunteered throughout our community.”

Here is the full story from his mother

His case is not getting nearly the amount of attention it deserves. Please sign the petition and reblog this. Here is the official Facebook, and Instagram page is @ justice4matthewrushin

35 YEARS FOR A NON VIOLENT DRUG OFFENSE

Fuck you, America’s criminal justice system

This is heartbreaking 💔

his name is Matthew Charles

This is awful.

hey guys, it already worked.

Wow it’s rare to see posts like this with a happy ending.

I just realized that this is like, the last time that we’re all gonna be here, like this. Soon I won’t be able to just come in here and say, ‘Hey’. I remember there was like a whole year that we didn’t even see each other… I’m just saying, a part of me feels like, I’m almost glad that we lost the money. I love you very much.

Love is a word you hear a lot here, not in the casual, hyperbolic, verbal air-kissing Hollywood sense, but the real emotion, the spiritual state, the intentional action. “No one ever talked to me about how this show was going to be written from love and about love,” says Catherine O’Hara. “It never came off as any kind of agenda. It’s just the world that Daniel would love to live in.”

SCHITT’S CREEK (2015 – 2020) where everyone fits in

This is such a beautiful show.

We do exist in this society where women in entertainment are discarded in an elephant graveyard by the time they’re 35. Everyone’s a shiny, new toy, for like, two years. The female artists that I know of have reinvented themselves 20 times more than the male artists. They have to… Or else you’re out of a job. Constantly having to reinvent, constantly finding new facets of yourself that people find to be shiny. Be new to us, be young to us, but only in a new way and only in the way we want. And reinvent yourself, but only in a way that we find to be equally comforting but also a challenge for you. Live out a narrative that we find to be interesting enough to entertain us, but not so crazy that it makes us uncomfortable. TAYLOR SWIFT: MISS AMERICANA (2020) dir. Lana Wilson
