The ‘Kiss-gate’ likes:

On 4th December 2014, Taylor and Karlie attended The 1975’s concert at Terminal 5 in New York (accompanied by Lily Aldridge, Martha Hunt, the Haim sisters and, for a short while, Josh Kushner.) This evening, which plausibly was intended to establish a public frame of reference for Taylor’s subsequent relationship with Matt Healy — the groundwork for which was being laid throughout November (see: here and here) —  became notorious, when video was posted online purporting to show (an obviously inebriated) Taylor kissing Karlie.

Over the course of the same evening a total of 146 posts were liked by Taylor’s tumblr account. Notably, 26 of these concerned her relationship with Karlie, of which 13 were photos and/or gifs of their appearance together at VSFS on 2nd December. They are as follows below:

[NB: ‘likes’ generally related to Karlie are (in the process of being) collected here.]

Other posts of interest from the same evening include:

  • a further 13 posts about VSFS (x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x//x)
  • 3 posts about her publicist, Tree (x//x//x)
  • 1 post about her cover of Riptide (x)
  • 1 post about Wonderland (x)

The 102 likes which remain were distributed among fans’ selfies and expressions of devotion to Taylor (and to 1989.)

Only OG Swifties remember this. Once Upon a Prom. 2008. Dying at when Abigail said “You’re going in a group of 40 guys?” That man said “Happy?” and Taylor got flustered and sarcastically said “ecstatic”… she was so embarrassed 😂 Abigail knew what was up! I used to get embarrassed like that too knowing damn well I wasn’t interested in any guys! Full episode here.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

oh shit

I became a full fledged Swiftie around the time her 1989 album came out. If memory serves me, watching the video for I Knew You Were Trouble on the MTV countdown sparked my interest in her. I loved the emotion she portrayed, her style, and the rhythm difference of the chorus from the verses. I started listening to Taylor Swift a little more after that but not enough to have been called a fan. By the time 1989 was released, I had become a huge fan and had tried to get tickets to see her in concert. I didn't though. Sad, but I moved on hoping she would play in my city again soon but she hasn't. Might have to do with something that happened when she played here, at least according to my research and if so, I don't blame her. Fast foward to now, I am a huge Taylor Swift fangirl even though I get a lot of hate and criticism from my brother for my taste of music, he doesn't like Taylor Swift and always has something to say when I talk about her. (Luckily for me, he does happen to like one song which is Style which all things considered reduces some criticism). Anyways, I have recently decided to collect all of Taylor Swift's deluxe albums so that I can share them with future kids just like my mother did with me and my brother and her cassettes. But after hearing about her old record label which (which I don't even want to waste any effort in mentioning)I decided to buy them used and from 3rd party sellers so as to not give additional money for music she worked hard on to the record label. I am happy to say I now own Fearless Platnium and the deluxe version of Speak Now (my favorite album).

I was aware that building this collection would take time because I am a low income, first generation college student but what I was unaware of was how difficult it would be to get the deluxe version of her debut album. Because of its rarity, it is kinda expensive (again college student who makes little money) and when I do find it at a price I might be able to afford, it is gone within minutes. Taylor Swift has become my role model (second only to my mom of course), she is one of the kindest and most down to earth celebrities out there, she's humble, frequently interacts with her fans and I especially love how she has begun to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She doesn't take crap from anyone and stands up for herself. All of her songs are so full of emotion which I think makes us fans feel closer to her. Not to mention, she is incredibly funny, she's not afraid to make fun of herself and I love when she makes puns from her songs. (I love puns and enjoy making them even if my friends look at me with slight disappointment). These are just a few reasons why I admire her. And although I may not be able to see her in concert anytime soon, I'm happy just collecting her albums and being a supportive fan especially with all that's going on with her ex record label. I only wish I would've gotten into her music sooner, what was my younger self thinking?!

You're so gorgeous I can't say anything to your face 'Cause look at your face

She says look up And your shoulders brush No proof, one touch You felt enough

And everybody's watching her..But she's looking at you

My baby's fit like a daydream Walking with his head down I'm the one she's walking to

I, I loved you in secret First sight, yeah, we love without reason

You two are dancing in a snow globe, go round and round

Our secret moments in a crowded room They've got no idea about me and you

Image

And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did

It was my season for battle wounds Battle scars, body bumped, bruised

Does anyone know why @taylorswift stopped doing the liner notes? I think its cool she's been making us play detective since her very first album and I always found it very fun to do, also helped me memorize the lyrics better. Did she just decide to change our difficulty from easy to hard by giving us harder easter eggs? Why has this not been addressed?

Let me show you the full clip! After ‘You are in love’ we chanted ‘Kaylor’ & ‘Taylor’. Then big screen showing ‘Kaylor’ sign, Tay said ‘I love you’ in Chinese! Enjoy it!

Shanghai, get up!!!

Aww she looked so happy to see that 😊

“KAYLOR! KAYLOR! KAYLOR!”

She said “I love you” in Chinese/mandarin. Someone correct me. She heard and saw the Kaylor chants.

In high school one of the common fund raisers was carnation flowers for a dollar during prom season and valentines and a couple other times of year. And you could “order” flowers to be delivered to kids during their homeroom times so it was always a big deal to get flowers and it was super fun

But one of these fundraisers I had a guy friend who commented he never got any because he was always single or his girlfriend always expected flowers but never gave him any

So my senior year valentines I decided I was going to buy all the guys in my homeroom (which he was in) a carnation and said they were from “Anonymous Girl in your homeroom”

So the day came and all the guys started getting flowers and they all realized they were from the same one girl and all got super excited and giddy and protective of their flowers and all day long I saw the guys in my homeroom wear flowers behind their ears or stuffed in their notebooks and they flaunted them around to other guys that didn’t get flowers. One guy tried to see if it would make his girlfriend jealous. A couple of them tried to play detective to figure it out who it was.

Then the next day apparently they all (or at least most of them) got together and bought all the girls in homeroom a carnation as a thank you to whoever it was so every girl in my homeroom got a bouquet of one from every guy (so it was a bouquet of about a dozen) and every single girl was smiling and happy and bouncy as the guys were the day before

And no one ever knew it was me but I was always super proud of that

Forgotten By History

Female firefighters at Pearl Harbor (1941).

Donna Tobias - the first woman to graduate from the US Navy’s Deep Sea Diving School in 1975.

Brave women of the Red Cross hitting the beach at Normandy.

Dottie Kamenshek was called the best player in women’s baseball and was once recruited to play for a men’s professional team.

Kate Warne - Private Detective. Born in New York City, almost nothing is known of her prior to 1856 when, as a young widow, she answered an employment advertisement placed by Alan Pinkerton. She was one of four new agents the Pinkerton Detective Agency hired that year and proved to be a natural, taking to undercover work easily. She had taken part in embezzlement and railroad security cases when in 1861 the Pinkertons developed the first lead about an anti-Lincoln conspiracy.

Catherine Leroy, female photographer in Vietnam.

The three women pictured in this incredible photograph from 1885 – Anandibai Joshi of India, Keiko Okami of Japan, and Sabat Islambouli of Syria – each became the first licensed female doctors in their respective countries. The three were students at the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania; one of the only places in the world at the time where women could study medicine.

Female Samurai Warrior - Onno-Bugeisha - Female warrior belonging to the Japanese upper class. Many women engaged in battle, commonly alongside samurai men. They were members of the bushi (samurai) class in feudal Japan and were trained in the use of weapons to protect their household, family, and honour in times of war.

One of the most feared of all London street gangs from the late 1880’s was a group of female toughs known as the Clockwork Oranges. They woulde later inspire Anthony burgess’ most notorious novel. Their main Rivals were the All-female “the Forty Elephants” gang.

Maureen Dunlop de Popp, Pioneering female pilot who flew Spitfires during Second World War. She joined the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) in 1942 and became one of a small group of female pilots who were trained to fly 38 types of aircraft.

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.” However, Switzer’s boyfriend and other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon. The photographs taken of the incident made world headlines, and Kathrine later won the NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29.

Women have always participated in fighting; whether that is in war or in breaking down barriers that have been set in front of us by society.

Take inspiration from our foremothers and continue breaking down barriers, wherever you are.

This is my friend TJ, wearing a costume she made for Halloween, 1977.  She was 16 at the time. Now, keep in mind: there was no internet to search for images.  She could not have rented and paused the movie, because it wasn’t released on video until 1982.  No, TJ just went to the movie a bunch of times, took notes with a flashlight, drew a bunch of sketches, and put this together. In 19-fucking-77.  So let’s bury this bullshit about how women didn’t grow up on Star Wars.

Hell yeah TJ

Reasons I believe my friend is secretly some kind of deity

1) First time we spoke was a week after the beggining of freshman year she summed up my entire character and most of the events of my life Sherlock style. I asked her how the hell she knew all that. She just shrugged and said she figured out our entire class already.

2) The one time we had religion class instead of ethics she listened to the teacher for a few minutes, laughed and told me:

“Humans have wished to be gods so much they’ve forgotten they have to ability to create them. Imagination has truly suffered from this ‘monotheism’ stuff.”

I was confused and asked her if she was an atheist. She rolled her eyes and said:

“Oh I believe in god alright. I just don’t think the bastard deserves to be worshipped.”

3) Out of nowhere she gave me this advice:

“The only truth a liar ever told was that lies weren’t going to save you. Don’t become the liar who has to pass that wisdom on, because they speak from experience.”

4) To this day, she has one of those old-timey phones with buttons she only uses to ocassionally call someone. When I asked her why she never got a smartphone she got pouty:

“I hate social media. On Facebook they talk a lot but never say anything. If I wanted to listen to people moan about their problems and ask for help they don’t expect I’d listen to their prayers.” (Notice the choice of words)

5) I noticed she was stiff and I offered her a massage since I’m really good at it but when i started kneading her back I swear to this day those were not muscles I felt. I asked her what she did to turn her muscles into rocks covered with a thin layer of skin and she kinda froze then shrugged and said she was just really, really stiff. My hands hurt after ten minutes when I can usually go for an hour. Next time I offered she seemed surprised and laughed. She still has rocks for muscles.

6) We were having a debate over the way neural pathways are formed (I study biology and she forensics) and I jokingly asked if I could have her brain for study when she dies. She laughed.

“Sure, if you find a way to kill me you can have it. I’m actually curious what you’re gonna find.”

7) One time she was tired and miserable and I tried to comfort her. We both have really dark sense of humor so I told her she could scare the dead out of their graves with that glare. She told me the dead can’t come back and I rolled my eyes and said ‘obviously’ but she continued:

“When you die you descend to the underworld with nothing to lose. To keep you, they give you something to lose. When you want to return, they will demand it back. That’s why nobody ever leaves. The only way out is to never enter.”

8) One day she just came up to me with a disappointed look on her face. When I asked her what was wrong she was quiet for a few seconds and then just told me:

“Betrayals committed in good intentions are still damning. Just… keep that in mind.” Then she left and didn’t speak to me for three days. I still don’t know what she meant but even three years later I haven’t forgotten it.

9) We were casually sitting on a bench when, out of nowhere, she asked me: “Is it just me or have humans gotten dumber? Or have they always been this stupid and I just haven’t been paying attention?”

10) She asked me if I ever wondered what it was like to die. I said no but told her I would tell her when I found out. I meant it as a ghost joke but she smiled at me and said:

“Great. I’ll wait for you to come back. Maybe you’ll even remember me.”

In conclusion, she is some kind of low-key god and she lost her faith in humanity even before we lost our faith in her but she’s stuck with us because immortality is a bitch.

P.S. I just remembered her name is a variation on ‘Eve’. Maybe I should reconsider my atheist status?!

She totally sounds like a goddess from one of Rick Riordan’s novels honestly. I kinda love her. If you have more stories, update us, cause I love this stuff.

Deadass, I’m number 2
