ICWA STANDS!

The court rejects all of the challenges to the Indian Child Welfare Act, "some on the merits and others for lack of standing," Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote in her majority opinion. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented. The law was challenged by Chad and Jennifer Brackeen, alongside other non-Native prospective adoptive couples. They argued the law violated the Constitution by discriminating on the basis of race and forcing the state to carry out federal mandates. The high court rejected these arguments, citing over a century of precedent that classifies Native Americans as a political, not racial, group. Thursday's decision is viewed as a win to Native American tribal leaders and advocates who argued the law safeguarded Native children and tribal communities.

hi! do you have a page from which you sell your art? I've tried the links link but it's not working for me

Look, this is probably going to end up as an unpopular post, because God knows the level of brainrot capitalism and fast consumption caused in people's brains, but I'd rather not get TV shows for a while if it means writers get their rights defended and recognized.

Entertainment can't come at the cost of fair pay, healthy work environment and ethical practices.

i’m so sorry but i’m very confused by your blog title 💀 what is the significance of “little girl, please (in the polite form)?”

also your art is so incredibly beautiful 😭

lads 2023 is the year i cave and change that 😭

its a (knowingly incorrect grammar) joke on the 2012 era phrase "girl, please", constructed in a high school hallway and kept for the nostalgia. also the bane of my existence the more that phrase becomes a relic of the past.

Also thank you though!

Here’s where you can donate to NICWA to help with the legal defenses, and of course, helping native families stay together and raise their kids:

your job can’t fire you for being trans, they can’t fire you or discriminate against you for being any gender. idk if you’re like out as trans or nonbinary or if you feel like getting top surgery would force you to be out if you’re not, but, regardless, getting top surgery shouldn’t factor in at all. we live in a binary society, but tbh you’re more an employee than male or female under American capitalism. you can remain a “woman” to your workplace with no tits too, breast reduction for all sorts of reasons is a thing. if you end up switching job, being flat chested will probably not really matter either.

I understand your concerns and they’re absolutely valid, I can’t tell you that there’s no way top surgery could possibly impact your work situation, but like if you want it and can do it I believe you’ll be able to work out whatever happens. the reasonable case scenario is that someone might think “huh that’s new” about it and that’s it.

you’re not too old to experiment and figure this out, your time to be weird about gender doesn’t end with teenagehood.

i appreciate the intent and i get that they can't fire me, technically--although a determined boss can and will find way to make someone's life hell if they choose. In this case specifically there is just a kind of antiquated division in the department that dictates who can do what task based on 'are they a boy or a girl'.

Also quite a few of my coworkers are pretty hardcore conservatives who don't even know ive been dating a woman for ten years. Some of them will inevitably be bad reactions, most will probably not say it to my face, and probably I won't have to leave simply because I'm stubborn.

Its just a lot of attention and scrutiny I don't want in my life. Everyday activities and normal life choices give me enough anxiety, people spectating a personal issue i can't hide behind a lack of info (like said ten year relationship) is uh. hoo boy.

sometimes as a 20 something trying to budget and tactically weigh gender and My Whole Gay Marriage vs kickback from jobs and family i get a little (probably wrongfully) jealous that its far more common now to get to openly think about that earlier

Like, finding out i was not straight almost ended with me dead in high school, from multiple factors. I certainly wouldn't have survived wondering about my gender too. But I wish I could have wondered when being a little cringey teen would have made it less embarrassing.

Now everything feels a lot more calculated and permanent. Do I trust my car to work for years and risk top surgery? Do I want it badly enough to risk my job limiting me because they no longer know how to quantify me into a system that has divisions based on binary genders? Am I worried about being wrong or am I worried about money?

And then the pervading if unintentional doubt of other people (even close people) who have only known a very well constructed image that lasted this long--why didn't the idea come sooner if its real? It did, just there was no name for it, no concept i could understand or relate to until by even other trans people's standards it was 'too late'
